I always thought Lady Anne the ripest of all Sharpe's women, and from a perspective of storytelling, believed she'd have been his best and final wife.

Sadly sharpe didn't have the money for her life style, the difference was anne was honest about her intentions whilst jane was not
to be fair, i don't think jane intended to betray Sharpe at all. certainly not based on her depiction in the movie series. she started off as a naïve damsel that sharpe rescued, and fell in love with him, before being exposed to the brutal practicalities of being wed to a solider. but even up to the point that she ended up betraying him she didn't seem to bear him any ill will. she never really got over being naive however. she was easily manipulated by the woman that convinced her to steal all of shapre's things (who really did it for her own benefit). But all of that largely only happened because they were able to convince her that sharpe was dead.
this isn't to excuse her actions, she did 100% betray him. I just think its unfair to ascribe malicious intent from the start @@lord_duckian9521

A lady of high social station will not go out of her way to "inform" a lower officer of danger without announcing her intentions. She felt Sharpe had potential. She could've polished him up, and he could've stood by her side. She could've steered him to the highest levels of society.
I love how Lady Camoynes only lets her guard down with Sharpe. I wish something happened there.

i wonder how shapre may have faired overall if he'd ended up with lady camoynes. i've not read the books so idk how she is overall in them. but as a member of high society she at least doesn't seem to look down too much on sharpe. might have been interesting to see what her skill with politics might lead to.
I get that high politics doesn't really match shapre's character, im not suggesting as he is now, more like...an alternate universe where sharpe is slightly more ambitious. not too much...just a bit.
