I am 32 and a single mother myself and still tear up when i see fathers like him. His face how he glows up and smiles... i see my father once in 2 years maybe and even if i know he loves and care for me i cant see it or feel it. For a person of his age life at the Soviet era was quite good, at least better than in South Korea at the same time. I can tell as an Asian from Russia, there were no such things like racism and crime level was very low, and it’s a false stereotype that people back than were oppressed by Soviet regime. Yes of course the was no real freedom to express your thoughts but it’s worse now under Putin’s rule.

My last words to him were, "Good night, see ya later this morning." He died in his sleep a few hours later... We were close. Different cultures (I grew up around Filipino people and food in southern California, my father was from the American Midwest). I still miss him. If you are close to your parents, talk to them. You never know how much time you have left with the ones you love
