That's an amazing accomplishment. It only took me 5 years to build my scratch-built Sonex. LOL I will always consider that one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Congrats to Sonex, LLC.
How much would it cost to pay for the full assembly?
4:48 Haha! That's hilarious! Mike Patey from Best Tugs saying "I don't know how to do it!"
Great coverage throughout the week brother Bryan. Great job by both EAA and Experimental aircraft channel for the daily coverage.
Bryan, you should be the offical channel that covers the EAA one week wonder projects each and every year! Great job brother, great job!
Thanks so much for covering this build Bryan! Lot of fun following along, and also EAA livestream.👍🏽👍🏽
I participated in the RV-12 OWW in 2018. I couldn't make it this year, but I'm already planning for next year!
Thanks for the great coverage and documentation of our efforts. You spent about as much time in the pavilion as our full-time volunteers!
Lol I thought they were building an RV this whole week. That's a sharp-looking plane.
Yup, I thought the first 5 episodes they were building one of them-thare T@B little aluminum trailers.
Didn't know you were an airplane guy too! Awesome to see some overlap between my hobbies
@@devinmathison2183 👍 If’n this T@B be rockin’, don’t be comin’ knockin’.
Thanks Bryan!!! Great Job bringing Oshkosh too the USA!!! Soo glad you were there, You have created a Great Avaition RUclips Channel!!! Let your Light Continue too Shine!!!
Nice coverage Bryan. Great finally meeting in person too.
Great EAA kit build program. Loved the congestion and stress for the one week duration project. Opposite to the home builders.
🌏🇦🇺
Great update and big congratulations to the effort; beautiful day for a "taxi" ~ !
Thank You. Yes... everyone involved did an amazing job on getting the work done. So many interesting people there!
Wow long walk, but worth it after hearing the Rotax start up. Great to see a real aircraft engine in a Sonex. GAME CHANGER!
It was fun to stop by a few times each day to see the progress. After hanging around the booth for a while, it became obvious that there were almost always 'too many helpers' . They were literally bumping into each other. Truly an amazing amount of work done in seven days time. I can only imagine how much faster it would have been built with a team of six that worked from start to finish. I can't wait to see what they will build next year!
Excellent stuff bro
Thanks! I was quite ab experience to watch for sure!
Spectácular work!! Congratulations!! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏💪🎉🎊🥇
That was *EPIC!*
Congrats to all involved! Was fun to watch it come together on the live stream and Bryan's updates. Man, that B model has quite a bit more room in it than my legacy model.
Unfortunately... I didn't catch ANY of the live feeds. I saw the cameras on the tent poles and that's about it. It was a great experience seeing it all come together so quickly.
Great coverage! We saw it Monday at the start.
My first choice would be a V-tail Bonanza, but the Sonex is affordable and fun, so definitely on my list!
An easy build in comparison I am sure!
OW and 30 minute W! Outstanding, everyone!
It was fun watching it go down on the live stream.
I SAT here in my home town in India and WALKED the whole length with you guys 👍👍🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
COOL ........ 🤗
Wow!
Right?! :-)
One of those signatures is mine!
Thanks for covering it Bryan. The big question is, when do we get to see its first flight?
That’s just awesomeness. It’s so cool that my Rubber-Lined GripLockTies are on it. I appreciate the mention.
They were! They totally were! And the OTHER employee built one sitting outside as well. It was one of the first things I noticed when the cowling was off! :-) Good products!
Awesome! I’m in the market to purchase this aircraft built by all these “engineers”.
My dear old Mother-In-Law said she always wanted to learn to fly… but never said anything aboot landing.
As we all know, if even one rivet is loose, or if we have a bucket-full of bolts/screws/connectors, it must be experimental. I shared a bottle or two of fine red wine with Mother-In-Law, and she will maiden it early tomorrow morning. After a few samosas, and coffee/kaloua.
I’m pumped!
Our chapter has a Sonex Zenos kit for sale less than half price of current kit
When I was a kid I built scale models of many kinds of planes. From single-engine prop planes to huge multiengine planes, both prop-driven, and jets. I just wonder if the kitplane builders got their start with models?
That rotax sounds surprisingly mean
You lost a lot of weight congrats!
👍
How many man hours was the build!
I dropped by a couple of times Friday. I voted on the winning patriotic paint scheme!
How many man/hours did it take?
did it fly in the 7 days ???
Wait! In one week? Are you kidding me?!
Actually about six days and 7-8 hours! A group of people, most of whom hadn't met until we opened the boxes Monday morning, made it happen. I'm stull not sure how!
Pretty cool. The rake on that windscreen has to effect visibility though... yikes!
If it's blown properly, there's no distortion.
@@DblIre I would think you'd get a lot of reflection off of it given the incidence angle, reducing incoming light and getting glare.
All well and good but where is the taxi test? You never showed that part. All build up and no ending.
The "ending" was this started (and properly) and was able to taxi out under its own power. It was quite rushed at the very end. The guys doing the wiring on the panel and ultimately terminating the engine ECU wiring literally worked up until it was pushed out of the tent. There was no time allowance to mount cameras and audio in the cockpit. Sorry to disappoint...we shared all we could with what was permitted to us. Still an amazing feat all in OneWeek I would say! :-)
You forgot to paint it!
I never got an answer to my question, WHO GETS THIS AIRPLANE??
It's owned by EAA. It will go on a national tour later this year to chapters and events. After that it will be part of the EAA employee flying club and will continue to be used for flying Young Eagles, chapter events, etc. , like the two previous OWWs before it.
No take off? Pretty weak way to cap it off.
How many people is "they". How dead would I be if I tried to do this solo?
Vee tailed killer...no one learned from beechcraft?
No way… I built one and flew it over 350 hours. Fantastic flyer and very safe…
When someone heard an aviation factoid with no real context or information and loves to show off their “knowledge” at every opportunity 🤦♂️
@@gpaull2 so.....what nickname did the beech 35 have? How many other aircraft had killer in their nicknames?
Ahh geez.. the person that didn’t learn just made an ignorant commented.
@@creightonking8436 if they are sooo wonderful why did they quit manufacturing them?...Hmmm...
So.... no flying? Impressive feat of building to be sure, but it seems like they didn't make an airplane in 7 days, they made a really cool propeller powered car in 7 days. They could have had the same results with just the fuselage, engine, gear and such.
The process of working through the government bureaucracy to actually fly it takes much longer than a week…
You can't finish a plane and then fly it five minutes later.
