+@dianabalto we thought that was so interesting! We were at another spot a few miles up the road that was much steeper and they were trying to pull a small boat up by hand except the waves kept washing over the boat filling it with water. Also very interesting to watch! They finally pulled it up with a truck😃

Ive been an avid viewer of your videos for about 2 years now. This series has by far been the best. I retire from teaching in 21 months from an upstate NY district and my plan is to drive west across Canada and into Alaska. Your videos will be invaluable in regards to the places to visit byt also where to stop to spend the night boondocking. Thx for this great series!

Every one of your Alaska videos has shown us something so very special. This one was starkly beautiful - what a huge, incredible beach, and all of those Eagles in one place. I would have sat on that beach for hours just watching them with you Carrie. Dave, that boat launching was fascinating to see - what an amazing process because those aren't little boats. The orange wildflower you asked about is Fox and Cubs - Pilosella. It grows in alpine regions & Alaska, and is considered to be invasive there. I also saw what looked like Wild Geranium & Lupines in the wildflower area, and Wild Yarrow when you were walking back to camp. Such an interesting video - thanks for sharing with all of us, and hope you both recovered quickly from your colds.

I loved this video!! From the "so cool" boat launching to the wild flowers and coal gathering to the EAGLES!! Dave, you did Carrie proud!! And I loved, loved hearing all the bird calls. It was amazing to see so many eagles peaceably eating alongside the gulls and ravens. And your camp site was just beautiful. The yellow tent looked so cozy snuggled into the pines. I could just envision being there. Carrie, I'm so sorry you had to endure a yucky cold, and Dave too if he caught it. I'm confident you're both feeling better by now and back along your journey 👍. Oh, and the eagles in flight shots at the end were absolutely GORGEOUS!! Thanks SO MUCH for sharing it all. I smiled all the way thru 😊.
Take care and see you next time.
    🥰🌿♥️
P.S. Roodle's coat length looks really nice right now. Kind of a perfect in-between. 😁♥️😍

Y'all take care and get well soon. Carrie is extremely talented Dave but your awesome as well. That drone footage of the tractor was incredible. I wonder if they can only launch when the waves are calm? The eagle footage is so spectacular and the volcanoes -WOW. Is that why they call it "Cook" Island? Thank you both so much for this great adventure. Sendin Grandmama love ❌⭕, Iris and Little One 👋🐾. Hugs to Roodle 😘

    Morning Dave and Carrie.
On the topic of bald eagles, look up Land between the Lakes National Recreation Area in Kentucky. Hundreds of eagles hang out there in the winter. Lots of other things to see and do as well. As an added bonus, you can swing by Cincinnati and visit with us. Great video this week as always. Thank you.

More to come on that soon!

So interesting! I have never heard of a tractor launch. I thought it would take all kinds of maneuvering to get back on the trailer, but they zoomed right on! They must have lots of experience. I think those were ravens. Ravens are much bigger than crows and have a larger, thicker beak. The last time I was at Yellowstone, I was walking around Old Faithful and heard a weird bird that sounded a little like a turkey gobbling. I looked up in a tree and saw a raven doing his best turkey gobble imitation. Each time he gobbled, he hunched his shoulders up and he just kept gobbling and gobbling. I laughed a long time over that one! Feel better soon.

It's awesome you got to see the tractor launch. Great drone footage.
It's so much fun to see and do
It's because it's the huge tidal changes. You'd have to make and maintain a huge launch.
I like how much you're showing Alaska's beauty unlike many RV channels that solely complain. It's not Disney and the beauty of the state isn't going to be served in platter right at your doorstep. You have to talk with locals and put in a bit of effort.
You've talked about coal and the tractor launch which aren't normal tourist highlights.
    Awesome video!

There is a very interesting setup at Port Orford, Oregon. It’s called a “dolly dock”, and it is one of only two in the US, and six in the world. The boats are hauled in and out of the water by cranes and loaded on dollies or trailers. Really fun to watch. Not sure of the reason that the boats can’t be stored in the water; too shallow maybe, or too exposed to the open ocean.

Why not just build a boat ramp? It seems like it would need to be a long one but would probably be much more efficient if it were possible. Thank you so much for your amazing videos and I hope Carrie got better quickly! 🩷
