Only Me (Alie) and ma Dug (dog) Cooper. These are just short clips of a couple of places I've been over the last few months.
    Darns Walk...
The Darn Road is an historic byway linking the two towns of Bridge of Allan and Dunblane, now mostly just a scenic path. It is reputed to date back to Roman times. Author Robert Louis Stevenson used to frequent the route as a child, and a small cave halfway along is claimed to be his inspiration for Ben Gunn’s cave in Treasure Island.
    Highland Mary's Monument...
Mary Campbell was born in Dunoon and became famous because of Robert burns poetry. While she was working in Ayrshire, she met Robert burns where they handfasted and planned to emigrate to Jamaica, but sadly Mary died at the age of 23. Burns had an affair with her whilst married to Jean Armour and is thought to have asked Mary to leave Scotland to go to Jamaica with him until Jean fell pregnant.
    Peden's Cove...
It is said that the steps were cut into the sandstone by covenanters so that Alexander Peden could preach to his congregation gathered on the opposite bank in the 17th century.
    Knight's Tower..
This tower dates from between 1748 and 1751.
From the top there's views across Midlothian and there's an unusual, three-storey interior featuring narrow passageways and a first floor doocot with well over 1,000 nesting holes.
    Thanks for Watching
    Take Care,
    Alie. 🐾🚶‍♀️
