Time for a stint into War Thunder. Blast of the past. The last stint into War Thunder was 2021 if you believe it I thought its about time to "spade" (e. g. unlock all upgrades) in the Ta 152 H-1 In the first sortie I still miss the most important engine upgrades (Injection etc) My plane is horribly slow. It was a little better in the second one. The Ta 152 has to potentially fight fierce opposition So in the first sorties I limited myself to play the objective and knock down these recon planes etc And try to only fight players which try to hinder me. As it turns out the opposition here wasn't too fierce. As a side note I tried VR on and off, and played without VR for a while. Because the cockpits in War Thunder are at maximum half functional. But I went back to VR because the situational awareness is much better. So if I continue to bring WT to the channel again, the footage will be in VR again.
I can't play WT after IL because of some kind of ping between joystick and game. And also awful ballistics, which doesn't match sight rings. I tried different distance settings, nothing helped :(
Man I often think to myself I need to get back to flying. Game actually seems to have improved a bit since way back when. Especially audio seems to be way more immersive. Unfortunately textures are still horribly muddy and I imagine the matchups are still fantasy and completely unfair
my table was vibrating to the rumble of the engines and guns, I don't understand why I can't get that kind of sound out of IL2 (and to a lesser extent even DCS)
War Thunder sounds are so hit and miss. The engine rumbles here yes, but I dont find it particularly great. And wait until you hear a yak engine. it sounds so wimpy you start laughing.
The graphical differences in detail between DCS/IL2 and WT make one feel like it's not about going back to Warthunder but to Warbirds... if anyone can still remember that title :D
Ah, Confirmed Kill turned Warbirds. Best of it's time, but in the end time passed it by after ICI sold it. The old story. Thousands of hours in that one.
Nice combat! Quick question, I do notice that the aircraft barely buffets, a little of vibration but the wings doesn't stall at all especially with such of wing design which is with tin profile for better airspeed. Do you have FFB stick and that is how you avoid the stall or the game is not modeling the wing stall when the aircraft is flew at high AoA or at minimum turning speed?
I just fly by feel, you can feel the buffet approaching by listening to the aircraft. Also there are vortices building up on the wing tips. You can stall easily in war thunder. The stalls are way more violent than lets say in IL-2.
I would say it's the best multiplayer air sim experience. People who complain about realism mostly don't understand what they're talking about, flight model is on par with "true" sims most of the time. Big downside is that you have to grind a lot to get to modern planes
@@michaelc9155 I disagree that its the best air sim and the fight models are surely not on par having flown them all. But it most things dont "ok" for what it is. But if we compare IL-2s Combat Box Server with the average match of Enduring Confrontation its no question which gameplay is better and which one is better thought through.
@@SheriffsSimShack EC mode has been neglected and poorly managed for a long time, it is true. But it still has much more active players and much more planes variety. It is also built into game, not a custom server, not to mention ground sim, which is also great for ground attack planes (no other game has PvP with planes, tanks and AA). As for flight model quality, I haven't seen any videos comparing WT/il-2 /dcs, would be very interested in some concrete numerical comparisons of engine/airframe performance, stalls, flutter etc. From my limited experience planes in il-2 feel too stable compared to wt/dcs, I also heard other people complain that planes fly "on rails"
@@michaelc9155 Nah IL-2 is certainly not on rails. ILs FMs suffer from too high controllabilty at too low speeds. But War Thunders FMs are so damn in consistent. Some are acutally not that bad (I think that the 109 FMs arent half bad) but then you have some clown machines. Like the 110 or back then the N1Ks. Dunno what the main culprits are these days. Also IL-2 handles damage much much better. The drag caused by damage or missing parts is way more convincing. Weight is also more perceivable.
It all depends highly on what you are looking for. Do you want to play an easy entry into flight sim with a great variety of planes? You dont care about historical match ups? You can look beyond questionable flight models and gameplay design decisions? You dont mind progression systems? or paying in Free to play games? Then War Thunder is something for you. But do you want the opposite? Good flightmodels, historical matchups and grinding planes and upgrades disgusts you? then IL-2 it is. I migrated from war thunder to IL-2 for these reasons. But that doesnt mean that I dont enjoy the occasional stint into War Thunder. There is stupid fun to be had.
@@Kawoski I wouldn't see it as eliteist. Different people look for different things in their games. And that is fine. There is also a bleed over effect. One game benefits from the other
@@SheriffsSimShack I just got myself into IL2 and im really loving it. Im finding it far superior to everything that i've seen so far regarding this genre. Bought an old Microsoft FFB2 and i need to get a VR now for the best experience. Its so good to be a newbie sometimes and experience things for the first time haha. All the excitment
It goes away with time. To help it 1. Increase VR time gradually 2. Don't play more than 1 h in the first few days 3. Don't play when tired. Especially initially 4. Make the experience as smooth as possible. High fps and hz
After reading those comments, here’s my opinion: I’d rather play warthunder sim then the other sim games, just because im addicted to a reward system and player feedback. Give me full immersion and realism. I like it. But I want a reward for flying 20 min just to eventually kill one guy
How do you feel about WT compared to IL-2 and DCS? To be fair a comparison video might be a good shout, that’s if you’ve not already done one I haven’t checked.
I personally think that War Thunder is pretty much the best thing that could happen to IL-2 or DCS. It brings in some crowd from RB to SIM and then as soon as people spread their wings they end up in IL-2 or DCS. So its overall a net win for everyone. And I noticed how War Thunder sim is way way bigger today than it was in 2021 or 2016.
This game is trash, check this 0:42 inside a diving with wathermethanol + overboost and only 730 km/h... 730 km/h is what Ta152H could perform in STRAIGHT line... This game is trash, best to do with it is unninstall it.
No that is not what the ta 152 could achieve in a straight line. Not at that altitude. The speed you see is also the indicated air speed. Which is much lower than the true air speed.
