Amazon Alexa Announcement + Ring, Arlo, Blink, Wyze WiFi Security Camera Setup

- Today will be a tutorial video on setting up Amazon Alexa to make customized announcements when your WiFi security cameras ( Ring, Blink, Arlo ) detect motion. Wyze cameras will also work using their Wyze sense motion sensor. You can use an echo dot (3rd gen. preferably) and place it or stick it near a window so that the announcement can be heard by the people inside the house as well as person or persons outside.
This setup uses Amazon Alexa's routines and setting up your Ring, Arlo and Blink cameras and also wyze sensors to trigger the annoucement that you customize. Now, it will only work with WiFi security cameras that are full integrated with Amazon Alexa... Ring cameras and sensors, Arlo and Blink cameras will work with this setup. Wyze and Eufy cameras unfortunately are not fully integrated and will not work unless you use Wyze motion/contact sensors.

If you wanted to you could also use a Bluetooth speaker outside connected to the echo. The speaker could also play music outside.

You would need to keep the speaker charged or plugged in to a power source though. Just plugging in a weatherproof speaker into the 3.5mm input on the Amazon Echo would rectify that. 😊

Could we talk about the fact that ring announced an official motion announcement for their outdoor cameras years ago but hasn’t bothered to follow through. All of this could be done from the built in speaker on ring outdoor cams

LifeHackster I did this setup with Alexa the first day I installed my Ring Floodlight. I really enjoyed the choices of notification sounds that the Maximus Floodlight has, and the fact that it made people look up to the camera and deterred them when it detected motion. However the motion sensor wasn’t reliable and I changed out to Ring.

But the wyze motion sensor on the roof of the porch, or on the eves pointing down and you'll deal with the weather issue, make it less conspicuous, and it should reduce any false alerts.

Outstanding idea!
I just tested it with Alexa and it will speak whatever you write.. so it can speak spanish too but you have to play around with spelling so as to pronounce the words properly..
LifeHackster that’s awesome! Now I wonder how effective Google translate would be to create phrases. I use it for my contacts in Mexico. It’s not perfect but close enough. If you are fluent and can supply a couple cut and pastes that’d be cool.

Make sure your camera is integrated with Alexa first... Ring, Arlo and Blink works and wyze sensors and eufy doorbell.. I'll be testing some more brands in the future..

If there is a power cut, will the dot mute itself when it turns on again? Should be a system setting to always use it on mute, but amazon wouldn’t want that!
Lol... and yes, if power is out and when the echo dot restarts, it will still be on mute..

If there's a power outage and when the power comes back on Alexa will not be not be muted so yeah just just telling you guys

I'm not sure.. I did check and test this with my Blink XT2 and it worked..

Yes, you can or use the same echo dot.. it will announce it one after the other...

Is there a way to have a new Blink doorbell camera send all Alexa Echo Dots a Announcement that someone is at the front door when the doorbell button is pressed?
The speakers are one the bottom and the mics are in the top on 2nd and 3rd gen

Best thing to do is just get the security cams that play Pre recorded messages when they detect motion...

When setting up a WYZE Motion sensor do I also have to create a Rule on my WYZE app?
Nope.. you don't have to.. the wyze itself will also detect and record the motion. But the heat sensing of the motion sensor will have more accurate detection to trigger Alexa..
Nice but the echo dot on full volume could scare somebody inside or get annoying. Maybe you could use the headphones port on the Echo to put a speaker outside?

You can.. it is ok in our front room area and what I like on this setup is that the people inside will be notified too and when placed outside, you have to play and tone down the volume because it can be loud and probably annoy your neighbors...

Thought i saw a teardown video that showed 3rd gen speakers are pointed up. The fabric is cosmetic and is hard plastic underneath???
There are no holes on top though except for the mics (4 of them)

That way my aunt could ask whoever is at the door what do they want, while watching the cam feed on her echo show .
Unfortunately not at this time...it would be nice if eventually they will have full integration just like the Ring's..

Great video. I see you have your eufy battery doorbell listed in your amazon devices. What skill have you used as the eufy security skill is not finding the doorbell. I do not have the wires connected to it so unsure if that is a problem. definitely want to try this

I'm trying to find a way for my Show 5 and 8 to display video from my Wyze cam when motion is detected. The closest thing I've been able to do so far is be told when the detection sensor detects motion but not what i was wanting. If anyone knows how to get this to work, if its even possible?! please post and let me know as it will be greatly appreciated. Great video per usual.
Small Correction, The speakers on the 1st and 2nd gen echo dot have the speaker on the bottom and the microphones are on the top

connect your echo dot to a wall speaker via aux and you can have it outside

I think u can create a second routine(copy it from the 1st one) to announce on the other echo dot.
