Victoria Monét and D’Mile on the Importance of Keeping Music in Schools | Amazon Music

“Music to me is like a separate emotion." Grammy Best New Artist Victoria Monét and Grammy award-winning songwriter/producer D’Mile team up with Amazon Music and Save The Music Foundation to empower students at Transit Tech High School in Brooklyn, New York. The partners provided musical equipment and a music production masterclass for students led by D’Mile, through the J Dilla Music Technology Grant.
The documentary showcases the importance of music education and creativity for young people, explores how music making - from beatmaking to songwriting - can, and should be thought of as viable career pathways for young people, and connects the storylines of today’s award-winning musicians with those of the next generation.
To soundtrack the documentary, Victoria and D’Mile crafted an acoustic, re-imaged version of their song “Hollywood”, featuring behind the scenes footage in the studio.
