  • Hey guys! I hope you enjoy my reaction to Child's Play (1988). I did not expect to laugh as much as I did. I am sure if I had seen this as a child, it would not have been a laughing matter.

31:51 the way Brad Dourif delivers this line has always stuck with me lol

    Don't f*ck with the Chuck! 🤣🤣🤣
Brad Dourif crushes it as the voice of Chucky. His maniacal laugh is top notch and I just love every time he starts swearing.
Brad pops up in a bunch of non-Child's Play horror, and is always fantastic even (or maybe especially) when hamming it up.
Look for him in Exorcist 3, Urban Legend, and crime thrillers like Final Judgement, Sworn to Justice, and Fatal Beauty.

    "Ooh yes! Deliver your line!"
Alex Vincent drops that line so hard! Very few kids in horror are as endearing, heartbreaking, and ruthless as Andy.
Alex returns for 2, and appears in some of the more recent 'Chuckies'

The first four films are legit good. Seed of Chucky is very much a guilty pleasure for me, the last two films are..okay, and the TV show has been great fun so far.

Director Tom Holland (not the Spiderman one) is also responsible for the 80s vampire classic Fright Night 85, which also has Chris Sarandon (the main cop here). Both of these iconic movies have mediocre remakes 😅

    "How are the other films?"
The first 3 are a solid horror comedy trilogy and 4 (Bride of Chucky) is a jumpstart to the insanity that follows.
I suggest watching the first 4 and see how you feel about the new tone before going further. But I suspect you will enjoy the fifth as well.
All in all, Childs Play/Chucky is a great franchise that has shown incredible longevity among horror fans. The tv show just got shut down recently, but 1988-2024 is a run most horror series would 🔪 for. I suspect this is not the end, as Chucky always finds a way to come back... 😉

I'd say it's worth watching them all. The best thing about the franchise is that it never falls into a rut of doing the same thing over and over again. There's good, there's bad, but it's always something a little different (or wildly different). Even the bad ones are 'so bad it's good' rather than being boring.

The cops in this movie are dumb, not because they don't believe Andy's story. They are making mistakes real cops wouldn't make and you don't have to be one to know. Some of thee dumbest movie cops, ever!
