In everyday life, veneer means either 1. when it comes to furniture, a thin layer of more expensive wood laid over a less expensive wood or 2. when it comes to houses, a thin layer of decorative brick on the outside of the house. When it comes to polymer clay, it means a thin layer of various patterns made with various techniques (mokume gane, mica shift, cane slices, etc) placed on top of scrap (mud) clay bases.
