  • Ania si Rosas Pandan
    Gikan pa intawon sa kabukiran
    Kaninyo makiguban-uban
    Sa gisaulog nga kalingawan
    Balitaw day akong puhunan
    Maoy kabilin sa akong ginikanan
    Awit nga labing kara-an
    Nga garbo ning atong kabungturan
Dika ding dika ding dika ding
    Ayay sa atong balitaw
    Manindot pa ug sayaw
    Daw yamog ang kabugnaw
Dika dong dika dong dika dong
    Ayay usab si Dodong
    Nagtan-aw kang Inday
    Nagtabisay ang laway
    Ayayay ayayay ayayay
    Aya-ay sa akong balitaw
    Kanindot ba mosayaw
    Daw yamog ang kabugnaw
    Tigadong tigadong tigadong
    Ayay usab si Dodong
    Nagtan-aw kang Inday
    Nagtabisay ang laway
    Balitaw day akong puhunan
    Maoy kabilin sa akong ginikanan
    Awit nga labing kara-an
    Nga garbo ning atong kabungturan

George Hernandez's arrangement did wonders for this otherwise obscure Cebuano song and turned it into an excellent choir piece appreciated internationally.

I beg to defer. The original version of Rosas Pandan has long been a popular folk song in the Cebuano and the Bisaya speaking provinces. He picked the song and arranged it because it is a musical piece that would click in the global arena. It's the hilarious lyric "nag tabisay ang laway" - the drooling saliva that made the song funny. Choirs like to sing funny and melodious songs.

    • @mitch2192
      @mitch2192 7 месяцев назад

Heard it sung solo by the likes of Pilita Corrales and others and it's hohum mediocre. Turn it into a choir piece with its rhythmic crescendo and finissimo arrangement and it becomes magnifico.

    • @dartfather
      @dartfather 3 месяца назад

@@NurseTalkingThe lyrics has nothing to do with its popularity worldwide. It is the melody and the beat which are so ideally suited for choir.

Question: Why this SONG had been such a number one choice in the repertoirre of singing chorale? Was the classical tempo that we heard and watched are that unique in setting the Adrenaline on its peak? Or is it the character played by chorale that we're get hooked on? This manifestation of encouraging wits played by the group of talented choir has an overwhelmed impact on both the chorale, conductor and audiences alike which are evidently seen when it performed in several key cities in Europe, Asia and Americas. This Rosas Pandan hype has given me absolute entertainment from start to finish whenever I've watching it, it transcends me into "IMMORTALITY".

    Rough Translation (my native language):
    Here is Rosas Pandan
    Coming sadly from the farm
    With you she joins company
    For your much-celebrated fun.
    A serenade is my earnest
    My heirloom from my parents
    A song so ancient
That is the pride of our hills.
    (Dika ding, dika ding,dika ding!)
Oh, so much of our serenade
    Is wonderful to dance
And as cool as the morning dew.
(Dika dong, dika dong, dika dong!)
    Oh, look again at Dodong
    He’s glancing at Inday
    And drooling with saliva.
    (Ayayay, ayayay, ayayay!)
    Oh to my serenade
    It looks good for dancing
As cool as the morning dew.
(Tiga dong, tiga dong, tiga dong!)
    Oh look again at Dodong
    He’s staring at Inday
    And drooling with saliva.

Really perfect and total quality performance!
As a Filipino, I take pride in our Filipino music especially our folksongs! I am a bit wondering that more foreign countries are choosing our musical pieces for their concert activities. There must be something in our folk music that makes it stands out!
Thank you anyway for choosing our folksongs! Good luck and more power to your future performances in competitions...
