Food and Land Justice through a Public Health Lens (2022 NOFA Summer Conference)

Growing and distributing healthy foods to community members experiencing food insecurity is just one part of how we take care of one another and work towards building a just local food system. Meeting immediate healthy food needs is the first step along a public health continuum of care. Providing access to sustainably-managed land, and the tools, resources, and education to grow food, particularly to those who have been marginalized and harmed by the conventional food system, ensures the long-term public health outcomes that constitute a just local food system.
