This video helped my decision to buy the Mini 2. Very glad I did. It works far better than my previous dash cam. Super smart. Love that the .mp4 files are all 1min long. That makes sense. Video and audio is just great. Thankful I came across this video. Owned for a while now and put it through the paces. Does the job!
This was an excellent video for me as I'm shopping for a replacement for my dash cam that makes files that are sometimes not readable. I like the features and compact size. You have to have a dash cam these days! Thank you.
I do not recommend. I have two garmin dash cams mini 2 and they both have the same problems. slow and crashing application. the quality of the recordings is very average, in poor lighting you will not be able to read plate numbers. the biggest mistake is the parking mode - despite the correct connection to the car's installation in the fuse box, the camera has power (lights up) but there is no chance that it will detect a parking crash... maybe if your parked car rolls over or a tank crashes into it. No motion detection, only G sensor which is not working well. the camera in the parking mode records only when you hit the camera directly with your hand. you can hit the car from all sides, swing the car and nothing will be saved. From customer service you can't get help, after 3 months they told me that all cameras are like this, they were unable to make the parking mode work. Product is not working as it is described on the manufacturer's website. the only solution is to return it and get your money back. Only advantage is its size but it's not worth problems you get with it.
@@martel4435 in my second car i have viofo. Great quality also in the rain or in the night. Parking mode works great, there is also motion detection, it records every car or person who gets close to your car. or you can choose timelapse or low bitrate. Unfortunately it's bigger and more expensive but works properly - not like Garmin. I haven't found a small camera that meets my expectations, especially parking mode, so after returning Garmin, I will buy a viofo
Here's my setup: * Turn on the car * Garmin turns on * Car connects to my phone BT - mainphone(samsung nr1) * By a routine activated coz the car is connected through BT to the phone, the phone automatically creates a wifi HotSpot * My other Samsung device(nr 2) mounted as a navigationsphone goes from superpowersave to normal, also here as routine: if the phone is charging, disable superpowersave * my Samsung (nr2) connects to my the Wifi, so does Mini2 And therefore I can easily download and manage photos/videos instantly in the car.

I got this through the company safety program where I work. They had the next base dash cam before so I got that to install in my wifes car it works good only downside is the weight of it. End of summer the stickiness wears off and It sags and I end up having to replace the sticky pad. They took off the next base and now have the garmin. No it can't, soonest you go further away from camera from bluetooth radius then you loose connection with it and that's it, unles you sleep in your car 😂
I have a similar rotating ballpoint connection in my camera but I can also screw it down too so that it will get super steady, in this garmin is it steady enough? it looks like if you'd go a bit offroad it could easily loose the picture frame position.
Yes it does upload the videos automatically. You can access videos up to 24 hours with the free plan. But if you want to store more than that, you'll need a premium subscription.
Do any of these dash cameras use SD memory cards that can be used in a home computer for playback and retrieval? I don't want to pay regular monthly subscriptions 🤑for Wi-Fi or applications and need to be hooked up to a smartphone.
It needs to be powered all the time to work. It does not include internal battery. The moment you turn off the engine (power) the camera will turn off. A workaround for parking besides purchasing another accessorie to be connected to the internal power source. (Is to use an external powerbank) plug it to the usb port.
I have a problem with the image. My Garmin dash cam mini 2 is recording but the image comes in black and purple background. I never had a issues till now
Installed the mini 2 front and rear. After 2 years both stopped working just a few days past the 2 year warranty. I had a near miss so I checked the recorded videos, all were grainy and has either greenish/pink image. I've read a discussion having similar issue, they suggested to pry it open and tighten the T5 screws that fastens the camera lens. So I did and to my surprise it was working for a short while but when I installed it back to my car the problem reoccured. It has a small footprint but not having a screen means you can't have a quick look if it's still properly recording. The Garmin Drive app is rubbish when you try to connect it with your phone and generally doesn't work when Apple Carplay is connected. 2 mini's and 2 years later, dead.
Sir, I live in a village. I need a camera which can be installed inside the vehicle and can record 24 hours so that no one can damage the vehicle. Which can record even in complete darkness. Please tell me about such a camera.
It was a cool designed product, sadly the night image sucks and the fact that when you had the Mini 2 combined with the W66 together the Garmin app will crash on the iOS version while trying to download the video back and front together... I got tired of Garmin not fixing that issue so I bought a chinese cheap camera that had 4K video quality and great night video resolution for less than half of the price of what garmin offers. Some times the brand is the price, not the quality. I don't recommended for the price.

Sure. You may either go for the hardwire installation, or else, you can get a cigarette lighter adapter.
It's my understanding that if you have the "Garmin Drive" app running while you're driving, GPS information is kept.
