For those who want parking recording but don't want to mess with all the wires, there are OBD to USB-C cables if you don't mind the OBD port getting occupied. I bought the Vantrue one and it's been working great with N4P. Other brands have similar products as well.
@@fisephalnoxt From their website it looks like mini USB and only requires 5V 1A, then pretty much any of the OBD to mini USB cables on Amazon should work.
Phew, based on your previous Dash Cam video I bought my wife the Vantrue N4 Pro for Christmas and it just arrived yesterday. Thankfully it's still at the top of the list.
I find it fascinating that established brands selling thousands of units designed to record the events of a collision or vandalism didn't think to test their products' impact resistance; a rather ridiculous oversight. Thanks to THU for adding these tests as it may spur improvements in the next generation.
The Viofo dashcams are falling only on side impact. Of course you will tell me that there are also accidents from the side. OK, but no dashcam from this test is recording on the side. Also it's not important the aftermath, but the accident. What do you want to see from the aftermath?
This impact test doesn't seem valid! The question should not be, do they fall off the mount, it should be, do they record the accident. It is not essential to record after the impact, but it is essential to keep all the video up to the impact, and keep it secure. It is possible that by falling off the mount, they protect themselves from high enough g-forces to prevent the last bit of video being saved. What g-force can a microSD card withstand? You can pull them out of their slots fairly easily without pressing, if you can get a grip on them, so maybe a side impact, where the camera stays put means the SD card slides out instead, and then the last bit of video is lost?
I have been working with and pulling apart dashcams for over 25 years, before they even existed and I had to make my own. 95% of dashcam failures is caused by inside car heat damaging the internal battery. Now a key factor for me, in buying new ones is battery size and ease of access and replacement of the battery.
A810 was in last year's video. The biggest issue with the A810 vs something like the Wolfbox or N4 Pro is that it's still using a lithium battery instead of a super capacitor, so it doesn't do super well in hot conditions.
I bought the a810 about a year ago and 2 have died. First one lasted about 9 months then the replacement lasted about 2. So here I am looking at dash cams again.
I replaced my car just over a year ago and wanted a new camera for the new car. I looked at the dual camera units and they were all a pain in the arse to run the wires back, so in the end I bought 2x A119 Mini2 cameras and had them installed by the dealer. They work great and I have the bluetooth button to record the rear one if there is an incident. Been very pleased with the footage that I have pulled from them.
That was actually an impresive rundown. very thorough and to the point.. - even relating to the cameraspecs and it came across as neutral and objective with good valid arguments.. Well done channelholder.

This is a great video. As someone in the market for a dash cam, the timing is perfect and the testing methods and attention to detail is exceptional. Thanks for making it!
RE: Impact Testing. THANK YOU. Thank you also for that 3d file, will be printing this up ASAP. I think more companies need to consider this, and getting greater number of eyeballs on this concern, we'll get this addressed sooner rather than later. This is a purchasing requirement for me going forward.
This is funny, I was just looking throug my dashcam notes from last year where I notably had marked your last year's video and just went to look if by any chance you made another one. Excellent as always, especially the parking mode power draw is mega useful. Thanks!
Just got the Viofo A229 Plus (with included back cam) for $150 off amazon during black friday.. I could not splurge for more, perhaps it's best value at this price? I also can now watch footage from home assistant when at home :) One thing the A329 does better than the A229 Pro is it heats up less thanks to better vents. May be another metric to add to your tests as some may fail in high temperature areas
I've been using two Viofo A119 (not the newer A119 Mini) cameras for eight years. I thought these were some cheap brand that would conk out in a few years, but they keep on going!
My A129 did 5 years, then I dropped it on the driveway and the image became blurry. Totally my fault. I bought a 229 to replace it. I’m a big fan of the brand.
Worth pointing out which one has super capacitor instead of regular battery. I’ve been using dashcam for over 10 years now, found battery ones only last a few years. When battery die due to heat, turning off power (don’t need parking mode) will result in corrupt files. Super capacitor ones shutdown consistently without problem and can survive many heat cycles.
Its great to see that the sony sensor is able to capture decent quality of a moving vehicle's license plate. That is so important for accidents. For awhile dashcameras seemed to lack the bitrate to effectively get a still image of a car that allowed a user to make out the license plate #, so I recommend anyone looking for one to pick up one of these cameras that have the sony sensor. I hope we see some competition that allows for it to trickle down into lower price points though.
Yes, nice to see the tests, but what were the results? Which dashcams recorded the impact and lead up to the impact? Recording after the impact is not essential, and in an impact heavy enough to knock the dashcam off its mount, it is likely the electrical power will have been cut anyway, to avoid the possibility of fuel fires. I assume they all recorded and safely saved everything up to and including the impact?
I’m still going to watch the video however I purchased the Dashcam yesterday late at night after watching your video, LTT‘s video, and ChrisFix’s video. I went with the Viofo A229 pro two channel combo that included the wiring kit for $280.15.
I’m a little on the fence if I cancel the order and go with the Vantrue N4 Pro since the price is comparable and the performance is better. The only downside was the parking test which is really what steered me towards the Viofo. Please let me know your thoughts. The order hasn’t shipped yet so I can still cancel.
I would be interested in your assessment of dual (or more) channel cams where the rear camera is connected wirelessly. Supplying power to a rear cam is relatively easy, but wiring it to the front cam is a nightmare.
Just buy a front dashcam and stick it in the back window, it'll probably be better quality and you'll have a second backup sound recording should anything go wrong with the front one.
Good stuff, as usual. This info gives me the confidence to switch my N4 Pro into motion, rather than impact. Impact is basically useless if it isn't getting the pre-roll.
@ I did not. I’ll have to try to update. Thanks! But ultimately, you’re showing the draw, at its worst, isn’t terrible. I’ve got an electric car that tops off the 12V battery, so I’m not so worried about it draining. Though, I’d need to be careful for vacations when I’m not driving it.
You need to add a test for tape or adhesive strips. Whenever people get their windshields replaced or they get a new vehicle and want to keep the same dashcam, they need to remount it. Also, people may not have the time to contact the company for some more adhesives or a new mounting plate. It would be very beneficial if they could quickly buy replacement adhesive strips and tape from the nearest store. Not all tape is good. Some like most of the Gorilla Tape I've ever used when I had to mount a dashcam in my vehicles have been horrible. I bought a roll of Duck Tape double sided clear mounting tape. Removing that tape was a miserable experience when I went to remove a dashcam with that tape on it a year later.
I have two VIOFO and both died about ~18 months after purchased A129 Plus Duo and A139 Pro in the Texas heat. I'll explore other options. It was great while they work but then both just boot loop suddenly and none work ever again. I hope you can do more environmental test like letting the dashcam run in extreme high/low cabin temp continuously for months and see which one fail.
@@TheHookUp Unfortunately, should and will are different. Kinda concerning when I started hearing a bunch of startup noises continuously for both. Sadly both were out of warranty. I might go back to VIOFO product but get their cheapest model since they are just consumable at this point and have them replaced every 1.5 year. I did bring them indoor and use a laptop power brick but the problem still occurr so looks like it's permanent damage.
@@TheHookUp Yup and they are all endurance Samsung. Even if I don't insert an SD card I do hear the voice alert to insert SD Card but after 5 seconds it boot loops so bad SD card isn't the issue.
I've had this exact experience in lesser Ontario summer heat. Both enter a crashing boot loop. I've been through pretty detailed troubleshooting short of opening them up. They have a flaw but their support always blames the SD card.
Please add a “no frills” Patreon tier of $2/month. I support many content creators and it gets increasingly difficult to support more if the content may only be relevant a few times a year. That said, yours is of high quality and thorough-I may sign up for a couple months a year then. All the best!
After that video from LTT basically confirming all dashcameras are identical and generic, I was hoping someone would prove that wrong. I’m glad his highlights real differences. A229 Plus is what I have and use daily though, which isn’t covered here. 2k camera but a better reputation than the cheaper 4k cameras you showed. It was the most used model that I could afford in my budget and this doesn’t really cover as much as I would have liked.
Great, thorough review as always Rob! I'm still in the market for something, but I'd like something that either a) does not have a screen or b) has a screen that can be turned off based on a setting. Why? Driving a smaller car with a smaller windshield , I find the screens distracting, especially at night. Unfortunately, it's hard to figure out which dashcams have the ability to turn off their screens without diving into their user manuals. And even that doesn't answer the question many times. But I guess I'm an outlier for that requirement.
Huge thanks and also kudos for not having a begging nag upfront. Sad to see they rename their stuff in other countries. Australia is at the tail end of getting overpriced junk.
It would be good to evaluate mounting options. My current dashcams are able to be mounted to the support for the rear-view mirror. It works very well and puts them mostly out of view of the driver. My previous dash cam had a suction cup, which was terrible. New cameras seem to use an adhesive, which sounds problematic in varying weather conditions.
@@BillyBobDingledorf That range is no problem for the correct 3M sticky pads, not sure if all these dashcams use 3M, Viofo do, but even the 3M copies seem to work pretty well. You do need to clean the glass properly before sticking them on, with grease and wax free glass, it is pretty difficult to remove them again.
An unmentioned advantage of recording to an external ssd if you can route the cable to a hidden location so if your car is broken into (or stolen) and the criminals remove/steal the dash cam to protect their identities, there's no chance they're gonna go looking for the drive, they'll assume it's just internal and just rip the cables out the device.
@@TheHookUpof course it's the biggest selling point but you forgot to mention it because Vantrue must win. I can make side by side videos with N4 Pro and A329 and in all videos N4 Pro will lose against A329. How is this possible if both have the same IMX678 sensor and image should be the same? Because in some frames N4 Pro will win and on others A329 will win. If you want to offer correct tests for your watchers you should offer also the original videos download link.
@@TheHookUp your license plates comparison can lead to mistakes when they are not done in the proper way, but I don't want to blame you because 99.99% of the RUclipsrs are making the same mistake when comparing dashcams. At least for license plate legibility comparisons it is WRONG to use the same position for all cameras. When you will analize the same license plate on 4 dashcams, on EACH dashcam you need to go frame by frame until you will find the BEST legibility. Save the best frame from each dashcam video and then put them into the comparison. So if you stopped the frame where there is an advantage for the Wolfbox he can be declared the winner because all other 3 have poor legibility in that position but better than Wolfbox in other position of the cars. In real life people have one dashcam. If they will want legibility they will analize frame by frame until they will find the best. And now you understand why I wrote that I can make my own comparison but with different results. As an unbiased influencer the best is to offer fragments of original videos and in this way they can check if your results are correct. You can cut without reencoding and also removing the sound with LosslessCut. It is a few minutes job ather hours spent on such editing like this video. The Wolfbox mention was just an example, it is normal Wolfbox to be better than Mini 2 because Wolfbox have a bigger size CMOS. As we saw later, the Wolfbox is poor when compared to other dashcams with the same CMOS. About my SSD claim, I am sorry. I explained what was happening to me at the other message. But I still consider that you should put it on the A329 Pros
@@HD2You "When you will analize the same license plate on 4 dashcams, on EACH dashcam you need to go frame by frame until you will find the BEST legibility." That's exactly what I do. I pick a position, mark it in premiere then use the best capture from 3 frames on either side of the mark, then enlarge the plate to show on screen. So again, another incorrect assumption on your part.
You forgot to mention that Viofo A329 can record to a portable SSD and this dashcam is the first in the world with SSD storage. The main reason Viofo released this A329 model was the external storage support and you even didn't mentioned it. And is the most important for this dashcam. Without SSD support people can buy for lower price the Viofo A229 Pro which has almost the same video quality as A329. And also you forget to mention that Viofo A329 has the best WiFi transfer from all your tested dashcams and maybe the highest wifi speed from all dashcams in the world. But this is not so important as the SSD support.
Specifically mentioned at 6:41, then again at 15:48, so I wouldn't say I "forgot to mention it". I even said "These are the differences between the A229 and A329"
@TheHookUp OK, sorry I observed now. I am watching videos at 2X and sometimes I miss some parts. But if you wrote the SSD support on the screen at the Pros list for sure I would see it. If people don't want SSD recording there is no need to pay extra on A329 compared to A229 and more than that, people from the USA with their small license plates can buy A229 Pro or A229 Plus and the RTC300 telephoto camera and in this way they can have the best dashcam for reading license plates. On A329 you can not add telephoto camera. USA drivers should buy only dashcams which are including also telephoto cameras. Even the IMX678 is the biggest CMOS used in a dashcam, the telephoto 2K combined with HDR is the best possiblity right now, much better than IMX678.
VIOFO is king❤ Sony Starvis 2 censor is elite at catching plates. Came in handy to help a stranger that was a victim of hit a run damage that happen parked waiting at a red light. Reckless drivers are no match when it comes to this cam. Just say “lock the video” and call the boys in Blue! 🚨🚔🎯
My wife and I are retired and considered a dash cam we could move between cars, since we don’t usually drive at the same time. Is there a product that runs on batteries? I don’t want power cable hanging all over especially to a rear camera? BTW, your presentations are top shelf, thank you.
Best solution is to get someone to run the cable along the top of the screen, down the front pillar and under the dash to the lighter socket. It's not a difficult job but it will also be cheap for your mechanic to do for you if you just want the quiet life (that's what I did). And just buy a pair of the 119 Mini 2 cameras, they often go on sale and end up even cheaper.
2 questions please? 😊 1) If I already have In existing rear mount aftermarket camera, can use the existing wire on thses cams? 2) I wonder how these compared to the latest model 3 & Cybertruck cams? (1st question most important ha)
For these cameras, the existing rear cable will probably not work, these have digital video, and digital control of the rear camera, making the different brands not interchangeable. Cheaper cameras use analog video, with no control, and they often are interchangeable, often the same rebranded rear camera. All these cameras are significantly better than the Tesla cams, it is not unusual for people to use them in Teslas. The Viofo A119 is quite popular due to the small size, and a rear camera not being essential given that you also have the standard cameras. It's ability to read plates at night using HDR is desirable.
Actually in the market for a dashcam with LTE module to upload videos to my cloud directly with ability to connect wirelessly and view the footage. Had a lot of dashcam stolen
In addition to the S1 Pro, E360 and 70mai Omni in this video that can have cellular connections, I also made a whole video on LTE dashcams: ruclips.net/video/hhnsOQ3Xmnk/видео.html
I just got the Viofo A229 and hate it. The screen time out, the terrible live view, you do anything in the app and the camera stops recording, you have to re-enable the wireless and reconnect every single time. I can't figure out how to view the files on my phone. I am really missing my Nexar at this point...
Normally we don't recommend keeping the screen on and wifi on. If you want to keep the wifi always on, you can contact VIOFO to get customized firmware, we have a customized version that enables WiFi automatically.
I'm new to this whole concept of having a dashcam, but I've seen endless clips where people use them and I'm trying to understand how they're being used and not becoming a target for thieves. Are all of you setting them up and taking them down every time you drive? Otherwise, how do you stop a thief from breaking your window and stealing it?
Most thieves will not attempt to steal a security camera, because it might record them, and some will put the recording safely in the cloud where the thief can't steal it. Any thief taking a close enough look at the camera to work out if it is a cloud connected one is likely to get caught sooner rather than later, so basically all dashcams are pretty safe, we don't hear of them being stolen. Of course it depends a little on where you live. The Viofo A119 can easily be removed, it slides off its mount in a second, as demonstrated in the impact test, and goes back on just as easily, so you can take it with you if you like.
Do any dashcams have an auto upload feature? It would be nice to be able to turn my phones hotspot on and have the data saved somewhere, preferably somewhere of my choosing. This would prevent the footage from getting "lost" if the car was impounded by police.
Some of the cloud connected cameras have that feature. I did a cloud connected camera review back in February: ruclips.net/video/hhnsOQ3Xmnk/видео.html
Awesome video! Really helped with getting ready to choose. I have a question, how "bad" is rear tinting for rear cameras? Mines only 60% so not crazy like limo at 20%. But would this ruin any chance of night recording? Would day time suffer too?
Rear cameras should adjust to the tint level, a 60% tint will be close to unnoticeable except in very dark conditions, when the image may get a bit more noisy. It may increase the motion blur on passing vehicles, but you don't often need to read the plates of passing vehicles at the rear, and the plate of the car behind you is normally easy to read anyway, at least on all but the cheapest camera in this test.
No mention of size of files? Also how do the lower resolutions (to lower file size) impact recorded quality? Is 4K double the actual clarity over 1080?
4K is quadruple the pixels of 1080, 4x the detail. The quality of a good 4K is not much different to a good 1080, you just have 4x more detail and can see 2x further. If you are recording European size plates then 2K is normally sufficient, for USA plates 4K is highly desirable. A bad camera is a bad camera whatever the resolution, and there are a lot of cameras that claim to be 4K but use 2K sensors, so stick to the recommended cameras if you are going for 4K.
@@TheHookUp I understand the terms.. I have a Rove 4k Dual. after playing around with it a little, and trying 4k captures, I still frequently still not able to clearly read license plates numbers. The camera also has options for changing bitrate and also choosing between h264/265 encoding as well as HDR. 1080 also has options of 60 or 120 frames per second. File sizes can range between 41MB/minute and 163MB/Minute. I personally, saw very little difference in the clarity of the different resolutions. Something to keep in mind for sizing a memory card, and how long one may want to keep the file before it being overwritten. The Rove also has an app to download videos to my phone, and a player that shows map location as it plays. I had the Rove, and recently looked for a second dashcam for another vehicle.
i just want one that will fit on my windshield and not block the view. my car has a huge plastic assembly in front of my mirror that makes it impossible to not block my view

@@TheHookUp Yes I've seen that video. I have the V1P dual cam myself, and I agree but the main selling point for me was the super capacitors inside that makes this model very reliable in extreme temps. I purchased many other cams and they all failed eventually. The V1P has not failed me for over 5yrs now. Does any of the models you tested have super capacitors. I was looking at the wolfbox x5 for a gift for my mother but no documentation on whether super capacitors are used. I may just get another V1P for the reliability alone for her cus if it doesn't work it is useless. It is not as advanced or feature rich as the ones you have tested but it works reliably. Not sure what climate you are in but for me hot summers and cold winters really test the durability of dash cams.
Hey Rob, sorry if I missed it in the video. Are there any dash cam you tested with usb-c to usb-c for charging off the Tesla usb-c built in chargers? Not looking for usb-c to usb-a or dongles. I tried one cam this year that purported to be usb-c but would only charge with usb-c to usb-b. Thanks for the videos! Since you have a Tesla I thought you might know.
Some of them, require the correct charging cable, or a USB-C to USB-A converter, and then the standard cable. The Viofo A329 will work OK on USB-C to USB-C, it even comes with a USB-C lighter socket charger.
Great comparison. I’d love to see a dashcam that encrypts the video files as it saves them. I would like assurance that if someone steals the dash cam, they cannot access/play the videos saved on it.
I have an old samsung Galaxy S3 with an app called torque as a dash cam. The camera is crystal clear at night and day no haze no blur you can pause video playback zoom in on a bumper stickers and read the fine print along with any plate on the road. All from phone made in 2012. Dash cams are a joke they use crap cameras intentionally. Your old smart phone is 10x better with the torque app as a dash cam
Why didn't you test any truly budget dashcams? Walmart has some for like $20-$30. For someone who just wants to be able to tell if the thing that hit me was a car, do those work well enough? If not, you should have included them anyway to show why people should Not use them. $69 is still a lot of money for a lot of people and that's why they don't have a dashcam at all. Isn't even a bad dashcam better than no dashcam? onn 1080p for $25, onn dual 1080p for $40, Scosche Dual for $60, etc.
The very cheap ones do work, but not very well and are more trouble than they are worth. The cheap ones generally contain a lithium battery that cant cope with summer heat, so they generally die in their second summer, or soon after. The Viofo A119 and most but not all more expensive dashcams, does not have a lithium battery, it has a super capacitor instead, so is likely to last 10+ years, so is likely to be the cheapest in the long run.
The viofo a119 mini 2 does not allow you to download recordings with a mobile phone, you have to have a computer which can be a real PITA if you are in an accident and want to get the footage at that time.
I have the app on my phone for taking off the footage, rarely use it though as it seems much faster to just plug the card into a PC and pull off everything I need in one go, rather than one by one slowly.

This is funny, I was just looking throug my dashcam notes from last year where I notably had marked your last year's video and just went to look if by any chance you made another one. Excellent as always, especially the parking mode power draw is mega useful. Thanks!
Man! I really needed this a week ago but this is still extremely helpful! Thank you! Also thank you for the STL for the mount lock!
Just got the Viofo A229 Plus (with included back cam) for $150 off amazon during black friday.. I could not splurge for more, perhaps it's best value at this price? I also can now watch footage from home assistant when at home :)
One thing the A329 does better than the A229 Pro is it heats up less thanks to better vents. May be another metric to add to your tests as some may fail in high temperature areas
Can You give more info on HA connection?
I think the 229 Plus uses the same sensor as the 119 Mini 2, correct?
@@Shadoweee I'm also interested in the HA connection
I guess it might be using Github project steve192/dashcam-transporter?
@@TheHookUp I'm not sure. It does 2k60 (with HDR off) and is using a starvis 2 sensor.
I've been using two Viofo A119 (not the newer A119 Mini) cameras for eight years. I thought these were some cheap brand that would conk out in a few years, but they keep on going!
Same, I managed to scoop a refurb unit from Amazon for dirt cheap. It's incredible.
My A129 did 5 years, then I dropped it on the driveway and the image became blurry. Totally my fault. I bought a 229 to replace it. I’m a big fan of the brand.
HECK YEAH BEEN WAITING FOR THIS VID!!! Thank you for helping all of us!!!!
Amazing video, GREAT JOB. Love your content so much, literally nobody compares to you with these comparrisons.
All of them except the 70mai A500s are using super capacitors.
I’m not even in the market for a dash cam I just love this channel so much!

I really needed this a month ago, but I held off anyway at that time, so this will still be useful. Thanks.
I was about to suggest that project farm review dash cams and then found your channel! New subscriber here! Just ordered the wolf
Thanks Rob. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and your family. 🎄🎄🎅🏻🎅🏻
You too Ron.
Nice to see impact tests!
Still love my Vantrue 3ch dash cam!!
Amazing video as always! Amazing collision testing, that was eye opening since I have the same Viofo camera!
Just what I needed as my oldest is aboit tonstart driving!

Viofo definitely has better parking modes, but I think the N4 Pro is better all around due to the cabin camera.
@@gordon861 Good thinking
Good stuff, as usual. This info gives me the confidence to switch my N4 Pro into motion, rather than impact. Impact is basically useless if it isn't getting the pre-roll.
Did you see the firmware update that lets it do "fast wake up"?
@ I did not. I’ll have to try to update. Thanks! But ultimately, you’re showing the draw, at its worst, isn’t terrible. I’ve got an electric car that tops off the 12V battery, so I’m not so worried about it draining. Though, I’d need to be careful for vacations when I’m not driving it.
Great job, man!
🙌🏾 Been waiting. Let's goooo.
You can buy dashcam tape on Amazon for dirt cheap, works just like the factory stuff.
Good review! Thank you for saying niche properly!
Both of those dashcams should be able to deal with heat without issue since they use supercaps instead of batteries.
Did you try swapping SD cards?
The 229 Plus has the IMX675 sensor, so the same one as the A119 Mini 2 and the Vantrue S1 Pro. Definitely not bad.
All of the cams with screens have an option to have them go to sleep after a short configurable amount of time.
My Viofo A229 plus turns off the screen automatically out of the box. I guess other Viofo models too.
@@TheHookUp Thanks Rob!
In my experience the adhesives are extremely strong.
@@TheHookUp I'm still not comfortable when the temperature in the car can vary from -40F to 120F.
Yep, that's definitely the biggest selling point.
@@HD2Youwhy would I lie? I spend hours pouring over the footage before making conclusions. Also, I specifically mentioned the SSD recording twice.
@@HD2You "When you will analize the same license plate on 4 dashcams, on EACH dashcam you need to go frame by frame until you will find the BEST legibility."
That's exactly what I do. I pick a position, mark it in premiere then use the best capture from 3 frames on either side of the mark, then enlarge the plate to show on screen.
So again, another incorrect assumption on your part.
This is the reviews I didn't know I needed. Thanks a lot!
Dash cam King!
Awesome video review and testing.
VIOFO is king❤
Sony Starvis 2 censor is elite at catching plates. Came in handy to help a stranger that was a victim of hit a run damage that happen parked waiting at a red light.
Reckless drivers are no match when it comes to this cam. Just say “lock the video” and call the boys in Blue! 🚨🚔🎯
I'm curious how you mounted the 4 cams at the same time but nearly identical POVs.
You need a section where you look at the app. Almost all of the apps suck.
My wife and I are retired and considered a dash cam we could move between cars, since we don’t usually drive at the same time. Is there a product that runs on batteries? I don’t want power cable hanging all over especially to a rear camera? BTW, your presentations are top shelf, thank you.
Battery powered dashcams are generally not great with heat.
Thanks for the reply
Best solution is to get someone to run the cable along the top of the screen, down the front pillar and under the dash to the lighter socket. It's not a difficult job but it will also be cheap for your mechanic to do for you if you just want the quiet life (that's what I did). And just buy a pair of the 119 Mini 2 cameras, they often go on sale and end up even cheaper.
2 questions please? 😊
1) If I already have In existing rear mount aftermarket camera, can use the existing wire on thses cams?
It's ability to read plates at night using HDR is desirable.
can you do a comparison for the rearview camera dashcam as well??
Actually in the market for a dashcam with LTE module to upload videos to my cloud directly with ability to connect wirelessly and view the footage. Had a lot of dashcam stolen
In addition to the S1 Pro, E360 and 70mai Omni in this video that can have cellular connections, I also made a whole video on LTE dashcams: ruclips.net/video/hhnsOQ3Xmnk/видео.html
I'm surprised that you did not include any Blackvue dashcams in your testing.
I've reviewed all of the current Blackvue lineup in previous videos.
Since they lack HDR, they would not do well in the image quality comparisons!
I just got the Viofo A229 and hate it. The screen time out, the terrible live view, you do anything in the app and the camera stops recording, you have to re-enable the wireless and reconnect every single time. I can't figure out how to view the files on my phone. I am really missing my Nexar at this point...
Nexar? The Nexar that I tested was hands down the worst dashcam I've ever used. Which model did you have?
Do they all use heat-resistant capacitors or batteries?
All the cameras in this video except the 70mai A500s have Super Caps.
What's the difference between the Vantrue N4 pro vs Vantrue N5. I'm not seeing any video comparison of those
Both were in last years video:
ruclips.net/video/lzdxCOvPq5Q/видео.html
N5 uses the 1440p IMX675 image sensor.
I have a blackvue 590w. 2-ch.
Should I upgrade? It seems to eat memory cards.
No mention of size of files? Also how do the lower resolutions (to lower file size) impact recorded quality? Is 4K double the actual clarity over 1080?
The higher the resolution and bitrate the better the video quality and the higher the file size.
The issue is that the Rove 4K Dual only has a 1440p sensor, so even if it outputs 4K video it's just doubling the size in software.
What happened to Street Guardian? Used to have best dash cams but now no longer even get a mention in most videos like these
Looks like Street Guardian founder died, rip
Don't tell me there a better one already! I just got mine in August

@@TheHookUp might have been under my nose the whole time 😅 i thought maybe it was so popular they jacked up the price. Why no Rexing dash cams?
I reviewed the V1 in 2022, and it was pretty terrible: ruclips.net/video/loI05wPoLrU/видео.html
They haven't upgraded to Starvis or Starvis2 sensors.
@@gregs3342 All of the cams in this video except the 70mai a500s have super caps.
Most are USB-A to USB-C 5V.
Who has experience of good dash cams for use in hot climates? My 🤳 likes to complain and shutdown here in the Australian tropics with high humidity
Your x5 link is $299 and not under $200??
As with all Amazon links/prices you need to click available coupons/promos. The current price is $299 with a $100 coupon box.
A $400 investment’s can save you thousands in court fees!!
I'm confused.
Why not testing newer models like the A510? All over the place this comparison video.
Too bad no blackvue was compared.
👍🏻
Thanks for sharing. Like 475!
This video is only 2 days old and the price for the x5 is off by $80
You have to click the coupon box on Amazon. It’s still $199.
Well the wolfbox is now $299 instead of $199!!!
No, you just need to click the $100 off coupon box.
You should test Fitcamx too 🤞
A dashcam that falls off when you get hit... Jeez talk about poor designing. None of them are worth buying.
The viofo a119 mini 2 does not allow you to download recordings with a mobile phone, you have to have a computer which can be a real PITA if you are in an accident and want to get the footage at that time.
The A119 Mini 2 supports 5GHz WiFi, and the WiFi transfer speed is faster than most of other dashcams.
Cap! I have that camera and it DOES let you download either via 2.4 or 5ghz wifi.
I have the app on my phone for taking off the footage, rarely use it though as it seems much faster to just plug the card into a PC and pull off everything I need in one go, rather than one by one slowly.
All the license plate captures are still really bad.
