Very detailed tutorial. I am not sure about 2015 version but I can see offset option within material settings and photoshop is not required at all. Infact C4D offset stroke feature can provide variation giving a natural manual error look.
Thank you So much eyedesyn! When I applied the Sketch and toon effect in the render view all the intersections (edges) appear as an irregular stroke, I mean the points were visible, so I applied a Subdivision Surface then the problem was fixed. I don´t know if is the best way to create a regular stroke but it worked for me.
Is there a reason why the Sketch and Toon render setting slows my project down immensely? Using only the cel shading luminance on materials for my big cartoon farm, it renders is all in like 4 seconds, but when I apply a sketch and toon render it takes f o r e v e r to render...? Am I doing something wrong? :o
@@eyedesyn nevermind! I just applied the shader but removed every detail, including strokes and creases and background colour, and I just used the shader material it generates automatically, so that only the characters have outlines and everything else is not outlined, just as I wanted it! learning cinema 4d is so tough..... thanks for the quick response! :)
This works on simple geometric shapes but when I try it on complex models I get lots of gaps in the lines.. and so far I have tried all the settings in the stroke and the lines tab.. With them I made all the lines disappear but couldn't get rid of the gaps. Also how do you get such smooth lines mine look so jagged and ugly?
Hi, this response is kind of late! lol. But I've been exploring this issue. I think it's a matter of scale - if you have complex objects in too small of a scale, it wont render out properly. Cheers!
Thanks so much for your awesome Tutorials! A Question, Can the outlines not be baked ? I want to upload a model to sketchfab that I've made and textured using sketch & toon, and I have baked the textures and they come out fine but the outlines don't show.
very useful tutorial thanks for sharing! I have a question... i just noticed, when you move closer or forward your camera all the lines increase or decrease his size... is there an option to activate and avoid this and just have one size for all your lines?
Good question. In the Sketch Material "Thickness" panel there is an option for modifying distance and position. However, both options work exactly the opposite of what I would expect. As I move closer to an object with the camera, the lines get thinner, and when I move farther away the lines get thicker.
EJ, I'm curtious about one thing. Is is possible to use Sketch n Toon with Arnold? Do you know? I tried using this with Arnold, but without success. I don't know if it is incompatible or if I'm missing something. Also, I'm a huge fan of your work. So much inspiration. Thanks for everythin :)
Omg this is AWESOME i love your tutorials you explain everything so easily. just one more question is it possible to make anime styles animations in cinema 4D such as rwby but with a much better toon shading looked ?
Hi ! very cool lessons. do you know how to animate textures (face expressions) like on characters on lego move? i mean face expressions on the textures? but not just switch from one pose to another. more realistic, in lego we cant see that switches, textures moved without any switches . can you do the lesson maybe how to do that animations? thank you very much
I'm over an year late but you can make those different face expressions in a software like Photoshop, apply them to the character, and then keyframe them to change. You can also use Xpresso tag to make a slider so you don't have to keyframe each one of them. (Incase there's a lot of talking and dialogues).
Love your work! I've been getting into Cinema for the past couple of days, these get me so pumped up :) Anyways, is it possible the change the color of the outline? Let's say I've got a green object, and would like to outline to be a darker green, would that be possible to achieve? Thanks!
**so stylish** **such 2D** **very clear** **much wow**
you're mah man, thx for this stuff
Such thanks, many heart emojis, much thumbs up!

Fantastic tutorial, thank You! Many tips & tricks clearly explained 🥰
I also would love to see a tutorial how you model that vinyl player :D
I plan on doing some modeling live streams in the future!
such a good video, thanks!!
Glad you liked it! Thanks for watching!

Awesome tutorials!
Thanks!!!
your tutorials help so much 😊 thank you
Is there a way to bake sketch and toon shader into the texture maps?

if you have lines or strokes enabled, they can be very render intensive...do you have strokes active?

Can you make 2d looking characters after sculpting them in 3d? And how well will be resemble hand draw animation?
you can apply sketch and toon effect to any 3d object!
thx ^^
Thanks for watching!
HI! How to make this quick pre-render, this black frame..?
Thanks so much for your awesome Tutorials! A Question, Can the outlines not be baked ? I want to upload a model to sketchfab that I've made and textured using sketch & toon, and I have baked the textures and they come out fine but the outlines don't show.
outlines are a post effect so no they cannot be baked
What do you recommend to start understanding sketch and toon ? I've watched two of your videos about the argument but I'm still very confused :(
very useful tutorial thanks for sharing!

COÑÑOOOO EMPIEZA DESDE CEROO NO DONDE YA EMPEZASTE A HACER TODO, QUIERO VER COMO PONES CADA MATERIAL
jajajaja
Can I adjust the thickness of the lines?
Yep! In the strokes options under Size

how do i get rid of shadows like him?
+ALiiENmedia it looks like he has no lights and all his materials are only luminescence

Master You can do a tutorial on how to create materials
I've done a bunch on creating cel shader materials as well as my most recent tutorials on plastic materials, so check them out!
You have something that explains to me from scratch how to create a material with ton shader please
?
Got an entire playlist on toon shading! ruclips.net/p/PLhuhkssBjYqdAF3qPSuK8Dp2z_APm5uQj
Why I don't see my changes in real time? (
+Alina Ugozna Do you have interactive render region turned on?
Cant get the lines to show
Checking on Sketch & Toon render doesn't add lines?
i know that its 2019, but im still learning and i just wanted to say one like till 1000 (lol)
hahah thanks yo!

Thanks!
And if it's hard to understand how, you should add layer to multi-pass - [Material color] from [Milti-Pass...] menu below

Thanks for your kind comments! Glad you enjoyed the tuts!
Que bueno el video, para el próximo podrías colocarle subtítulos? Obtienes mas subscriptores
Hi man, great tutorial btw! Can you tell how do you active the Render View permanently?
Keep up the good work! Cheers ;)
you can activate the interactive render region!
