Dalis are 10 times more refined😬 wasnt expecting that big of a difference
Hi, I've got the 230s, paid £145 of Gumtree, mint condition boxed. They are a Fantastic speakers. I live in a back to back and listen at lower volumes, and they still sound full and enjoy everything I play on them comedy or music, I love them. I will be keeping these for a long time. I'm sure the other speakers are great though 👍
Both are really good speakers but it depends from your taste.
I prefer the Dali cause the sound is more open and the details are more clear. Mid and high are brighter too incl a good deep bass.
Thank you for putting this together. While they are both great, to my ears it seems Dali sounds better. I would love to hear both playing some jazz, that would make things clear. Again, great work!
Both are good. Dali punch is great
The Dalis should be compared with similarly priced speakers to make any reasoned judgments, not a cheap budget pair of Wharfedales.
When they were first released, the Wharfedale's were over £500. It's only over the last few years they've reduced in price.
@@UTILITARIANTVUK That is still £250 less than the Dalis
@@fuckinellitsraymo the q acoustics 3050i's are around £500 and I would say they are comparable quality wise.
@@UTILITARIANTVUK I had both and the Q accoustics need a big room and space around them to work but the Dalis will work better in small/ mediums rooms as long as you lift that speaker up a couple of inches by placing them spiked onto granite slabs.
The 3050s are handicapped by a dull treble, a trait of all Q accoustics speakers and need to be played at high volume to come alive.
Dali is better for me.
Depends on room size with the Wharfedales great speakers.
Of course they’re both great, but personally I prefer Wharedale because it has a more open sound - like surround, while Dali sounds more standard to me. Whatedale has that echo I like.
Both set of speakers are good in their own way. It all depends on individual preference.
I’ve listened to both in person. I much preferred Wharfedale 230. They balance better with a neutral sounding audiolab amp that can fill the midrange better than a Yamaha or marantz.
In the market for the Wharfedale’s
I had a Zensor 1 and compared it with a wharfedale 10.1.
I don't understand many positive reviews on dali as if it is a sound miracle. The sound is fairly balanced but certainly not detailed and the bass corresponds to the size of the speaker, so I don't understand the review.
Wharfedale has a bigger sound stage, it sounds darker but it is still more detailed, stronger bass. . WHARFEDALE also has a quality crossover, which unfortunately cannot be said for Zensor/Oberon. the crossover is the heart of the sound. I cannot recommend Dalí.
The Dali Oberon has almost the same sound as the Dali Zensor
The Wharfedales sound great! 👍
Very interesting - no way the Dali's are worth + £500 more than the Wharfedales - those Diamond 230's are an absolute steal! You could almost buy 3 pairs of Diamond 230's for the same price as a single pair of the Oberon 5's. Great comparison.
Where I live these Dali's are 500 pounds for couple.
@@JoJanDiezel Still twice the price of the Diamond 220's, but twice as good? Don't sound like it. Those Diamond 220's are a bargain.
and a fluffy carpet on that floor for 2x better sound on both speakers.
Dali ❤️
Dali sounds tight.
Wharfedale sounds smooth.
For a long listen i choose Wharfedale.
I was having both. Diamond is great.
La wharfedale me semble plus ouverte et le grave plus propre sur la Dali le grave manque parfois d'ouverture et d'aération
The Dali speakers have a fuller more warmer sound. I would choose the Dali speakers.
Dali has a cleaner and more open sound.
Wharfedale is a bit dull and artificial sounding base on it. It will cause fatigue over prolonged listening.
The Wharfedale sound muffled with the grilles, that's why. The Dalis are way more fatiguing anyway, that's not even debatable, the Wharfedale are considered the most relaxed speakers by everybody with a set of ears
Dali ❤👍
Thanks
The oberon 5 work great with a yamaha amp.
How are they with Yamaha A-S1200?
Dali £500 dearer than the 230s.dalis more refined and better organization, but you'd expect that for £750 vs £250.if you're on a budget then the wharfrdales are excellent value,if not then the Dali's will not disappoint.shop around because discounts are available.
On their initial release, the Dali's were £699 and 230's were £500. So only a £200 difference. Although, as you said, the 230s are good but the Dali's are far superior and even at 200 extra, still worth buying over the 230's. Also, if you take into account inflation, the Wharfedales would be around £600 at today's prices.
@@UTILITARIANTVUK true.the wharfrdales were heavily discounted, when I bought them.i can't see the Dali's getting a heavy discount,at least for the next three years anyway.the 230s are cracking value at their current price though.
@@tomoreilly9932 I don't think you'd get a better speaker around the £200/50 mark!
What hifi stand is that? Absolutely love it.
It's an alphason finewoods fw750
I prefer wharfedales
Wow, how can the Dali be so far superior? The instruments are so much more clear and defined with the Dali.
Have you tried listening grills off. The grills on those wharfedale tweeters cause a massive spike in treble response
Could be my ears but I couldn't hear any significant difference with them off or on?
@@UTILITARIANTVUK well at least you tried both. I've only read it in a couple of reviews I've read of the 200 series I haven't heard them myself
Better grills off ..
@@UTILITARIANTVUK You must be deaf then. They have a huge peak in the sibilance area and a big dip in the lower treble with the grilles on
@@ctr289 Unlike your manners, my hearing is very good. I agree that small differences in sound can occur with grilles on or off in most speakers. But to claim those differences are HUGE is a gross exaggeration.
Dalis are more detailed and balanced
Dali all the way
Incomplete test without classic and jazz.
Don't forget pan pipes!
Dali forgot the mids
They're in the bass and treble!
Good music ❤
I have a yamaha a-s501 stereo amplifier and jbl stage 130 speakers. I am not satisfied at all. I am looking for better speakers. I don't know what parameters I should focus on. I am looking for speakers: Oberon 5, Focal Chora 816, Triangle borea 07. Room approx. 20m2 Do you know Help me?
DALI sounds better!
