- In this episode, we visit the charming historic mining town of Julian, California in San Diego County, best known for their famous Apple Pies.
It is a perfect day trip for foodies or history buffs, looking for a unique experience.

california mountain bakery is the best for pies, hands down. so much more to do in julian than you showed. people love to go up there for the snow as well.

Yeah, unfortunately, we couldn’t make a video on snow in the middle of June. But we are going to come back! Would love to see it during the fall, and would love to showcase more. The fact of the matter is, there’s only so much we can do in two days. Next time for sure.

As a local, I prefer Mom's Apple Crumb. Don't know who steered you away, but.. mistake. Also, the Eagle Peak Mine tour is probably the most unique and fascinating thing you can do in Julian, a shame someone didn't tell you to take that tour.
Yeah, I know we really regret not doing moms! But all that means is that we have another incredible place to try next time. We will also do the mining tour next time. We were in between the old Timey photos in the morning tour, and time constraints allowed us to only do one. 😊
I can't wait to fly to julian after i get my license, that pie looks amazing!!!!!!!!

Nice! Thanks for sharing folks - looks like a worthwhile trip for a visit to sample their apple cuisine. You should plan a trip to Springville, California this fall (October) to their annual Apple Festival. Great BBQ, fall crafts, music, and various locally grown produce. Aaaand there is an amazing Giant Sequoia grove up the mountain in Balch Park (maybe an hour or so drive from Springville) 🤠👍🏼

As a local, I enjoyed the video. It's nice to see your town from someone else's perspective. I was disappointed that you didn't try out Miner's Diner (good food!) or Mom's Pies. The reason you can get both Mom's and Julian Pie Company commercially is because they are delicious. And if you really want to experience "as American as apple pie," visit again for our parade on the 4th of July.
Next time we would love to try!! we are excited about Miners diner, and mom’s Pie next time!

San Diegians love love❤to get out of the city and get some pie. Fat Anthony's deli is the fantastic. Ohhhhh and us country folks they had to never say that any of our country businesses 'suck'. There nothing in julian that's like 'McDonald's'

As a local hotelier in town we would have loved to host you! Next time! And Miner Diner does suck - $70 for two people and the food has no passion behind it.

I was so let down by Miners Diner when I went. Honestly almost threw up. I mean hey, when you pay a fortiune to eat there they really have a standard they need to uphold and should really deliver. and YAAS to Elle again in Julian! I need to see her deep in the mines. Would love to see a skit of her and josh as miners

Too bad Tom's Chicken shack wasn't still open, they were the best. The pies just don't taste like they used to when i grew up in Julian. Dudleys bakery was always very good. Sure wish I could revisit my childhood. I miss everything about it, including Julian. The outskirts, Banner, wynola, santa ysabel are all awesome places too.

I found it interesting that you didn't test Mom's pie because you can get them in the supermarket, but the Julian pie company is also in supermarkets. Personally, I have enjoyed eating at Miner's Diner. I am a local and was somewhat put off at your dismissal of some of the businesses. Basically as a tourist town, if it isn't good it doesn't last.
Thanks for watching! Yeah, all this was just advice from other fellow locals. I came in wanting to go to moms. It was my first priority, but two separate people in the town told us against it. 🤣 Looks like the consensus is everybody has their own favorite. Interesting to hear from another local- thanks for the advice! We were definitely just tourist, so not claiming to know all of the business is by any means😃What are your thoughts on Apple alley?🥧 there was an interesting article about how there really is no favorite because everybody has their preference in town.
I have gotten MOMS at my supermarket in SD as well FYI. I found it honest and quite frankly spot on. I live near the area and make it to Julian often so from a semi-local it was just great. Do you know the work these two put in. You do not see Anthony Bordain saying RAVE reviews about every single place he goes. These two are honest funny and do great work. Just my two cents and I have been everywhere and seen a lot in this world.
Eww maybe I am cray cray but I found Miners Diner gross and Moms decent at best. I think their review said the truth and I had a similar experience. Julian Pie Co all the way babyyyy

I lived in San Diego 1986-1998 and visited Julian frequently, and my first stop was ALways 'Mom's',
and after gorging on 2-3 pieces there I had to take a few home to 'bide me over' 'til the next visit.

It's 'bout a half hour hike from the parking area, following the little creek and depending on how many stops you make on the way, but,
when you round the last bend you'll be greeted by a forest of Palms and the multi-level falls from which the 'creek' begins it's journey.@@ElleMcLemore
You two have never made Julian look so good. I went with my husband a few years back. We had a good apple pie, but other than that, I found the members of the community to be rude and a little bit off.

Ok so unpopular opinion here. Miners Diner is overpriced and the food is not great. It is really a cute stylish interior though. Moms was good but not great so no loss there. Popular opinion... This video Rocks man and so do Elle and Josh. Keep on keepin on. :)

I'd say you give Apple Alley another try as far as the apple pie. I saw the piece you had and it definitely looked out of the ordinary. They are really good with their pies and they are always so delicous
