Fun fact: Harrison Ford was Roland Emmerichs first choice for Benjamin Martin. Harrison was excited to play the main guy in a movie showcasing America's fight for independence, bug turned it down saying the script boiled down to a story of a father's quest for revenge.
Mel Gibson did a much better job than Harrison would have anyway, I can already picture him doing it in his drousy, half assed way he does everything now.
Harrison Ford would have been a lousy choice anyway . I'd like to see Mel Gibson and Kevin Sorbo work on a film together . I just think whatever they would do could end up being a great film .

It’s 2019 and America has never been as divided as it is now. I wish we all could just remember how these men put everything on the line for our freedoms we have today. No, we are not perfect as a nation and never will be, but we will always strive to become better than we are. No matter what our political viewpoints are let’s remember how beyond blessed we are to live in a nation that is FREE.
Doesn’t matter people will never go back to the ways of thinking that we’re once had. To many are brainwashed by a number of influences like school, media, and the prevailing culture of lies & deceit.
Yeah it would be nice, but I don’t think we’ll ever be unified again, at least not for a while. And I don’t really think we were all that unified to begin with - it’s just that no one talked about it that much. The past 5 or 6 years have just exposed it all, festering under the surface. I love this country - I wouldn’t live at any other time in any other place, and I think we can learn to be unified. I wish people would stop listening to the politicians - especially Republicans. They seek nothing else than to divide us.
Hearing this during the inauguration was one of the most beautiful and sweetest moments ever! My patriotism sky rocketed. Only John Williams! The Marine Corps Band was flawless.
The thing I love about the movie is how it captures the human/family element. It illustrates the idea of how often what people do in conflicts like this is do what is best for their family.
One of Williams' great scores that was defeated at the Oscars by something a bit more unique--that year, Tan Dun's score to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. Still, The Patriot is a wonderful score, and one of a number that pertain to US history. I'm also a fan of an opening titles track that includes most of the major themes together, as this rarely seems to be the case. My favorite segment is actually the minor section from 0:45 to 1:25, as it goes off and returns so beautifully. And it's hard to not to love the fifes/piccolos at 2:51.

I am in the unique position of being a son of a revolutionary war vet and a Hessian soldier. I know my mother's grandfather 5 generations back was taken captive by George Washington when he crossed the Delaware River to attack the Hessian compound at Trenton. Truth be told, the Hessian soldier was not treated very well and was little more than a slave. The individual soldier received only his food, cloths, and weapons. All the loot when to some lord in what is now northern France. It was likely that my namesake was in the army that captured the Hessians. I get chills when I listen to this music.
There should be more movies about the Revolutionary War! We get so many movies about WW2 and Vietnam but the American Revolution is often overlooked by Hollywood (along with the Korean War and and the Mexican War).
Eric Tong I totally agree 100%. Why won’t Hollywood do it! I feel like they think it would offend too many people bc of all the “politically incorrect” things that a Revolutionary War movie would present.
This movie is a true show of how much we love our country. And how much we appreciate the men that gave their lives to protect it. This is a true and faithful master piece.

***** Well, actually the U.S. declared war on Germany, but I see your point against Mr. thomasg74. However, there are good points on both of your arguments; Soviet Russia and Nazi Germany were both terrible countries that plagued the world's peace, and nobody can argue against that. All countries are evil in their own way, but the U.S. undeniably the least evil.
Steve Rogers The war between Britain and the US may technically not be over yet. Here in Australia, we are split 55/45 between those who wish to remain a constitutional monarch under Britain and those who would like to cut the cord and become a republic. A civil war in Australia over the issue is highly unlikely, it would most probably end up a referendum, similar to Scotland's recent referendum to remain part of UK. My question to you as an American (I assume you're American), what would the US do if a civil war did just so happen to break out in Australia over the issue? As America is the world's policemen and you involve yourselves into everyone's conflicts (not a bad thing), would America betray your closest ally Britain and side with the republican movement in Australia, side with the monarchists on Britain's behalf, or just stay out of the war? Let's say the US sides with the republican movement and angers not just Britain, but also Canada? How will the US cope with the loss of such allies? What if France gets involved and sides with the US with the aim of separating Quebec from British Canada? Would we have a complete Napoleon style war?
JohnnyThe1 as long as no us citizens are killed, I really don't give a shit. But we are allied to the current government of Australia, meaning we are obligated to side with the Australian govt if they wanted assistance.

That powerful emotion hitting you is patriotism. A deep love of America and her people her way of life.
@@warrenchambers4819 Not quite. There may be some patriotism but in my view it goes way beyond that. It is the way the music supports the action and background of the movie.

Beautiful music and a great film too.
One of the deepest and most touching pieces ever.
Great theme, one of John Williams' most underrated.
Retired Army Sergeant and a baby boomer with ancestors who fought in that war for freedom. This music captures the spirit of the American Revolution. Saw the film a few times too. This should be music played at every 4th of July concert this year.
You cant possibly claim that something captures the spirit of a war that happened hundreds of years ago and you were not a part of.
Such an EPIC score. Mr. Williams = LEGEND.
@@thewhitemaskFord has been phoning it in for decades now.
Is "bug" Harrison fords Nickname? Sorry I from india
@@curtisball4437 I believe that was just a typo for the word "but"
Harrison Ford would have been a lousy choice anyway . I'd like to see Mel Gibson and Kevin Sorbo work on a film together . I just think whatever they would do could end up being a great film .
I played this song in my high school band. Lead trumpet. ^^ It was my favorite song we ever played. Fits great with the awesome movie.
A mesmerizing soundtrack; it almost takes you away into true serenity...love it!
"I have long feared... that my sins would return to visit me, and the cost is more than I can bear."
I play this in my band and I absolutely think that this IS the greatest song we have. I also love John Williams for making the soundtrack. I personally love him for all of the music he makes.
I am a retired US military Vet. I love world history and my USA. Therefore, I must state, this re creation of our war for independence is my favorite. I do not glamorize war, it is ugly. However, there are times when ugly must rear it's head to rid our nations of tyranny. The USA has been "at home plate", many times and I stand and fight for her.
The soundtrack is fantastic, the film great and the message of all is truly wonderful..."be free, then be prepared to pay the cost!"...my words here. GPM-53.
Beautiful movie and soundtrack 🇺🇸
The soundtrack is great.
One of the best movies of the year 2000 .
I've watched this movie four times in the last week, I absolutely love it.
Wonderfully said.
When you finally complete Assassin's Creed 3 100% synchronization

Ahhh Jonh Williams, the man who can make me feel patriotic for a country which is not mine Xd, a great composer.
John Williams is a legend. Thankyou for giving us such beautiful music. And I mean beautiful.
I'm writing this comment on Friday, June 14th, 2019. Today is Flag Day and Army's Birthday (also Trumps Bday?) I am thinking about my great uncle, who died at Anzio. I know nothing of the horrors of war. I'm still proud of him though and honored to be related to him.
Most Americans forget that the Revolution was a bloody civil war. Its a bitter sweet moment for my family who had members on both sides of the war. Im greatful to all three of my ancestors and pray that what put 3 brothers against each other has brought them back together in heaven
This is so amazing it brings tears to my eyes. Love John Williams!
Beautiful. 💕 Movie will always be one of my all time favorites.
OK, I've viewed this movie dozens of times, it is a historical story, at the very least. The musical score is truly awesome, by far. Having said that, let me state that this piece is just great. And all of the scores for this film deserve to be judged as just plain great. P.S., I may seem British in my message here, however, am not but French Canadian. Just chose to use clean language this time. Cheers and adieu.
if you don't get goosebumps at 2:51 when the flutes kick in, there is something wrong with you
Sorry. I’ve gotta save them for the trumpet’s entrance.

They’re shredding!!!
i connect with the music so much more. i loved the movie as well should watch to remind what we have today is the reason we fought yesterday to have freedom
Hope everyone in the United States has a great Fourth of July weekend!
Absolutely beautiful.
Yep.This.
que padre, John Williams , virrtuoso que manera de componer marchas. me encanta esta composicion
Happy 4th of July everyone. And god bless America

Inspiring music. Thanks for having it on RUclips.
One day I saw this movie in my cart update on Amazon, the price changed to $17.76
blew my mind...
4:02 sounds like a statement. As if the people are saying “Enough. Don’t tread on me!”
GO NAVY! Lol
2020 and still one of the best!
Fantastic music by John Williams
Yep.Perfect choice.
wow. im a complete band geek and this song is absolutely amazing!!!!! I LOVE IT SOOOOOO MUCH!!!!! :D
The score to The Patriot lifts me like no other John Williams score does, except maybe Superman.
This is beautiful.
Not only beautiful,it's wonderful.
JOHN WILLIAMS IS AMAZING.
STAR WARS. HARRY POTTER, JURASSIC PARK, JAWS, SUPERMAN, THE PATRIOT.
Yep.
This movie is a true show of how much we love our country. And how much we appreciate the men that gave their lives to protect it.
This is a true and faithful master piece.
And a true misrepresentation of the British and colonial armies.
Still very entertaining though.
This movie, for the most part, is terribly inaccurate when it comes to history. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love this film. But nobody should pretend that it's an accurate representation of history.
And I will bleed on the flag to make sure the stripes stay red!
this song just motivates me to enlist and help protect America, especially from those Isis bastards
+Robert Paes You imply that the only thing the military does is fight one terrorist group that mainly utilizes cyber warfare then drop the n-word. Even for the internet, it's pretty hard to get less classy than that.
+Robert Paes don't waste your time, isis is a false flag used to lure young people to join the military and fight and die for the globalist bankers and the NWO, be a real patriot and stay here in America to fight the next coming war.
+Robert Paes not only Americans the French keep getting walloped and Belgium (a little)

Glad I got to push them all the way to Mosul when I deployed with the 101st Airborne Division.
love this song
Me too.
Thank God for sending us John Williams. So many Movies he created such a fantastic Music for.
I sit here typing this out loud, knowing the fact how much we take our freedom for granted. Compared to the rest of the world, this is a place I would rather raise my kids and live the rest of my days growing old. God bless America.
Harry Woofler your begging for a riot......
Steve Rogers hear hear!!
