This month my goal is to:
1- is to make a schedule and stick to it!
    2 - Make a shell challenge for sims 4
3- keep having fun and enjoy each stream!

  •  3 года назад +52

Another advice to avoid burnout is: celebrate the small victories!
This is very important when you’re doing something as hard as creating an audience for your content.
Did you have a new chatter on your stream?
Did you manage to remember a personal fact about a chatter?
Did you get 10 bits for the first time?
Celebrate that! You’ll feel a lot better and more motivated to stream.
For instance last weekend I got a 1€ donation. It was the very first time I got a donation. When the stream ended I danced a little victory dance and talked about it with my girlfriend. It made me feel as if I was a top streamer earning thousands of € per stream.

Sometimes people just need constant reassurance. To know that their journey isn't someone else's; their successes aren't your failures and vice-versa. Someone told me that when people give you a compliment-it's often just that. No one is putting you on a pedestal that you must suddenly adhere to. The comparing yourself to others is a big one for me that I struggle with. I've been at it for 5 months and I'm doing well for myself IMO. I'm averaging about 15 viewers per stream and I just hit 250 followers yesterday. But there are times when I find myself veering into those comparison with my friends and getting down which isn't good. Everyone's journey is unique to them. But more than that, worrying too much about the numbers is a one way track to feeling down, especially early on. do this because you enjoy doing it, because you think you have something unique to present to people. For me, streaming is the first thing I've felt passionate about in almost a decade, working on stuff, adding new things, and trying to create the best content I can is the reason I do anything else that gets me there. these videos of yours have been such a huge help in my journey thus far as a creator as well, so thank you, Eljay. Honestly, so much of what I've done to improve and the steps I've taken have been inspired by these.

Fairly spot on already with your own thoughts BUT the other issue is that RUclips is more discoverable IF you make discoverable video content.
My latest video talks RUclips gaming for discoverability and my other RUclips growth video breaks down it as well with some more about optimising for the YT algo.
YT does lack community compared to Twitch, less features for community focused streaming BUT they are trying to add it so it does stagnate in the middle, but that middle is fixed with consistent discoverable video content as well (Twitch is the same, I stagnated a bit before this Yt channel did well)
It is a toss up but the core shouldn't be "this or that" it should be "What Discoverable And Engaging Content Can I Make to grow anywhere?"
      Hope this helps! :)

I'll be honest I get the feeling that I already achieved that SMART goal by getting out of my comfort zone and just talking while I streamed. However I can point out that the only way for me to become better than my last stream is to research bitrate and what the difference is between an encoder and decoder which will in fact take a day, as for my other goal would be to get employed so that way I can make at least 250 per week since I don't really have to worry about rent so this planning becomes so easy. There is another goal that I always wanted to achieve and that was to upgrade my SSD for higher storage and that's taking another day that I have to research.
TLDR ;Reached my first goal of being more confident, Day one learn what GPUs are, Day two start hustling, Day three upgrade the storage or delete some ahem things off of it.

You got this! Sadly streaming is SO volatile!
Some people don't have a community that is established enough to stick around even after short breaks, big breaks will always see massive drops like this.
It's why I tend to suggest people put 2 - 3 days of their schedule back to back without a stream so they get that time off every week to recharge! Hope you're feeling better soon, and back on top!

I have gone and reassessed some of my stream goals and changing my view to what I can control in the immediate future.
My goals for the next month are:
-update all my social media bio's

-do 3 fully structured streams a week
    -upload my first RUclips video
-post 3 times a week on Twitter and TikTok

So guys, please do not over stream, set big goals, my burn out took 5 months to recover. Have fun everyone, and let's get those viewers! ^^

I didn’t think of this as a goal but I’ve been focusing a lot on improving my engagement with chatters and the quality of my content. The engagement with chatters is measurable because I do get more people chatting for longer.
Improving the quality of the content isn’t measurable per say but I am reading a book on how to write comedy. That by itself is measurable but the book has action points that are measurable too. For instance, I’ve started a writing challenge of writing for 30min every day for at least 2 weeks.

I started streaming not too long ago, but it is, and probably always will be just a hobby for me. I love these videos as they give me some insight into those who want or are doing it as a job.
I also use this to get better at setting up a space and the technology as well as get better talking on camera. The last few years has changed a lot and my work has changed to require me to do a lot more "zoom" calls and a lot less in person calls. It's getting to the point where I have to update all of the training videos I made a couple of years ago, and streaming will help greatly improve the quality of them.
    As always, great content. Thanks.
Edit: I use SMART goals all the time. It's great to know how to set these up for life in general

Really loved this video. I've been working on setting goals like this. Started streaming 3 months ago and it's been slow. Not to say it's been bad. I've been enjoying the slow roll. Finding my way and understanding how to do things correctly. My current goal to hit by end of May is new content format. Instead of just playing games, I'm working on how to expand the types of content I put out. Reaction nights, viewer art and music, maybe watch parties for new content from other creators. But I'm loving where it's taking me and I'm enjoying the ride. Thanks for this video!

I used to have a goal of hitting affiliate. Which felt terrible after every week when I didn't hit it. I have finally got affiliate but took a step back for a long time as I got burnt out and felt like quitting. I have come back to streaming but only stream every now and again so now all the people that used to come into my streams have either moved on or don't use twitch anymore. So now I want to set a new SMART goal. I don't want to focus too much on viewers or subs or anything like that at the moment. For the short term I just want to get back into streaming so I have set a goal to stick to a schedule. From now on for the next 2 months I will stream 3 times a week. I have been feeling burnout recently, but watching this has made me reflect on why I do it. When I ask myself if I should quit, I realize that I stream because I enjoy it, not because my end goal is to become partner. I like playing video games with other people, it makes me happy and it makes me feel less alone. So I won't stop, I will just enjoy it. If success comes, it comes. If not I'm still having fun. The fact that there is a business aspect of it triggers my desire to do my very best to succeed, even if that's not why I'm streaming to begin with.

So far I've got a few in mind, but will need to be fully nutted out (short term changes for long term goals etc):
    1. I will improve/introduce 1 new idea for my stream interaction every week for the next month and review how it went
    2. I will upload >= 1 new RUclips video at least every 2 weeks that incorporates 1 new video editing skill I've learned for the next 2 months and review my growth to note what caught on.
    3. I will be more active on social media, learning 1 new way of marketing or growth on a platform and perform it every week for the next 2 months, with notes on growth afterwards to see what had the most interactions
    4. I will assess and improve 1 visual/audio aspect of my stream every week (last week was mic with new equaliser, this week I'm buying a RGB flood light for coloured back drop!)
Thanks again for posting this up!
