I have both of these and it never would have occurred to me to compare them- they’re like cheese and Thursday. They don’t even have knobs in common: technically the Craft has encoders. The Rocket has neither volume knob nor off-switch... The only thing they have in common is that you can make some totally mad noises with both of them, which is why I bought them
Im in Brasil and i get the modal just some weeks ago. The diference for me is that The rocket did nt came tô br. I really like it. Looks tô be mooore expensive. Am I right?
I have both and must say I prefer the Rocket. The Craftsynth 2.0 is almost incomprehensible without the App - yes you can get some great sounds out of it but trying to remember to count the LEDs when you turn a knob is a PITA - it really would have benefitted from a small OLED display. The Rocket doesn't need one and sounds fantastic.
I use the Craftsynth 2.0 with earbuds, and the app running on my phone. You can take it anywhere, and it all fits in the clam-shell case, so good to throw in a bag. They all bring something to the table, this has to be the best time for monosynth choice!
Maybe we are different? I didn't buy it to take it on the Bus and use it with my phone, I bought it to make music in the studio not just noodle. Don't get me wrong it sounds great - but it isn't an intuitive synth - if i've twisted a knob I want it to show me the position I set it to before I then change it again and I don't want to have to use an app to do so. I do like it, I just think they really missed a trick by not putting either ring LEDS around each knob or an OLED that would provide parameter detail.
I own Rocket for a year or so and I love it even though I put it away for a while. Just bought CraftSynth and can't like the sound no matter how much I try. May be I have too little experience with fully digital synths. It has some nice sounds for sure but mostly they sound cheap. Also I find it unhandy to use without app. Even setting ADSR feels painful to me. CraftSynth is great for making some noises though but not for live playing.
Hi, I prefer the Waldorf for the punch but there's no memory to save the sounds, incredible! I have the Streichtfett and at least you can save 12 sounds! I have the Craftsound V2 too but the midi implementation is a failure with my DAW and others users have the same problems with different DAWS, the sound changes after stoppping the sequencer in my case and can't recall the original sound without switch off the machine. Well to avoid to lose my sounds with the DAW when I make a change on the Craft I save the sound, at least the OFF/ON action is quick. I use it with a midi cable but for the midi parameters I use the APP with USB cable on another computer because the one with my DAW has all the USB ports already used. For a start I won't buy them for sure.
rocket is fuckibg underrated....such an amazing synth like the streichfett....also 2 pole filter in the same format is great. waldorf never does bad stuff since day1
Dude, lean some proper video shooting! This video constantly has a huge area at the top of your display that has a light source causing a large light flare! Adjust that angle of your lighting or the screen to get rid of that glare. You should always review your setup before going live.
With audio inputs, the Craftsynth would've been more interesting. However Waldorf has won battle both fun factor AND sound. The Craftsynth is priced € 100 cheaper but I'm willing to save up and pair it with my digital synths. Also adding the Modal would feel like adding another digital synth, rather than adding more character to sounds.
6:13 You literally filter swept a sine wave on the CraftSynth. A SINE WAVE.

Clicked on the vid thinking 'why compare those'?!

I love the sound of the rocket, would be amazing for waldorf to come back to it and do a big brother version with more effects and features.
Not really a fair comparison - “ let play a single note on the Modal, then I’ll play some full chords and melodies on the Rocket...”???

I'm glad you left "Take 1" in the edit. :)
Ol' Flutter Bingers over 'ere! X
Really like this vs videos. Dope beat btw
I originally doubted the waldorf rocket until I saw this video. glad I was hungry because your demo made me eat my words!!! damn that sounds good!!
The Waldorph is also 50% more expensive than the CS2.0 though and you will need an external keyboard to create patches......
Yeah nice. Thanks. 👍
Did Waldorf discontinue the Rocket? They still sell it at Thomann, but I don't recall seeing it on Waldorf's site.

Damn it sounds so good except no attack or decay or release!!

You barely touched Craftsynth.
Nice! I think you are going to sell a lot of Rockets with his video 🤔
Go for the juggler Jack!

Today I've watched this video at least three times just to enjoy the Rocket (and Jack as well).
The Rocket sounds rude - in all the right ways. Wow - I had no idea it could sound like that. :)
Waldorf has crazy prices now
Uh wow the Rocket sounds gooooood!
Cant really compare them can you?
Ha, good point, wish I knew that before starting out on another one of my pointless voyages in to Synth confusion! Thanks for stopping by Sir
You're the shit Jackov

It's fine mate chill out
Gregor Elphante It’s not fine, I was giving him some advice to help improve his videos. Can’t help it if the truth is what it is...
Time to RMA to the Kroftsynth lol
this guy does "american" better than most americans....
