One of the things about your reviews (that you are probably not aware of) is that when something is not so great, you don't go on a rant about it but suggest how it could be better. Very positive and refreshing considering other reviewers out there who pounce on any negativity and hammer down on it.
I've mostly used msi Tomahawks and Mortars in my builds. Never the fanciest, but always the best value. I do wish it had a few more quality of life inclusions, like the GPU release latch/button.
Thank you for this excellent, high quality review of higher-end motherboards. I agree with your conclusions that if a person already has an LGA 1700 board, there isn't a need to upgrade either the boards or the processor to one of these. I do think your motherboard reviews help me feel much more prepared when the time comes for a new build. I would be willing to invest in a board you have reviewed. That is more adventurous for me than my previous efforts where I tried to stay with one vendor as much as possible. Thank you again for all your work and all that your team does. I would like to praise the consistently excellent videography and the well thought out arrangement of the set (the stage or set you conduct the filming on.) You must have a professional videographer on your team.

I buy this MSI tomahawk for my 14900k build is good mention something i didnt see also before i buy it no read small "letters" upper m.2 slot gen 5 is barely unuseabe because is cut main PCI slot for GPU make it x8 cut of 8 lines doesnt matter what gen nvme you put there. I put my nvme there and not see is cut by later open cpuz which was pretty awkward using RTX 4080 on x8 this is writed on MSI site but need read small letters.....so this slot can count for no existing..... unless use some low end card like 4060, using also nvme slot 3 cut of 2 sata ports make it 6 available not 8
Did you notice any significant performance drop to your SSD or GPU after moving your SSD from the upper M2_1 slot to the lower M2_2 slot? I am thinking to buy this board, but it annoys me that the CPU's 4 PCIE lanes will be unused when the drive is installed through the chipset.
@@AdeM-kc7sc is good motherboard they just made some cut off from chipset seems but is not advisable put nvme in slot 1 if you use x16 gpu gonna loose bandwidth and will feel drop on performance special on higher resolutions. I know manufacturing costs have risen, but I feel for these motherboard prices, I’d be at least expecting more PCI-E 5.0 m.2, the quick release GPU and m.2 latches, post code displays on all these motherboard models. I agree that the Edge Ti Wifi Max motherboard is waaaay over overpriced for what’s being offered over the Tomahawk Wifi Max!

I upgraded from the 9900KS and 3080Ti to the 14900K and 4090 using the Edge Ti Max Wifi. I'm a brand loyalist, so I had to stick with MSI. The Tomahawk was just too plain and the ACE was just too expensive for what it offers. The Ti Max Wifi is at least a pretty white that matches my new Hyte Y70. I shouldn't have to upgrade for at least another 5 years. 💖

Only one thing I miss on lower tier motherboards and that is the postcode and if you dont own or know how to use a Phillips head screwdriver you should not build PC's
You'll need a screwdriver to install the motherboard anyway, but being able to add or change SSDs without the risk of losing those tiny and annoying ssd screws is so much nicer.
the latches are cheap and the chance of them breaking is high and the number of times I would have to screw them in is so low it doesnt matter . I had the plastic latch in the CM700 break and send a huge rad onto my motherboard so definitely prefer screws.
Hello ma'am, i have a question that no one answered yet, i asked everywhere and tried searching for it everywhere but nothing good found so far, i would like to know that since these boards are pcie switching when i install m.2 ssd in first slot then my pcie gen 5 x16 lane reduces to x8 lane which i kinda find very skeptical to whether buy these gen 5 ssd boards or stick with gen 4. In simple words if i install m.2 ssd in 1st slot and then run gpu in x8 lane does that impact my gpu? Will i lose performance? Will my gpu run in limitations? I know that pcie 5 is double in bandwidth of pcie 4 so 5 x8 lane would work exactly like 4 x16, but that 8 lane is not convincing me. I hope you would answer.
All these Z790 run the GPU in x8 with a (Gen5) SSD in the top slot. You'll lose maybe 1-2% of GPU performance though, not really a huge deal if you really need the M.2 Bandwidth.
I'm having real trouble with the "tool-less design" of the M.2_1 socket covers on the Ace Max. Out of 3 motherboards, only one cover was easily removable (push button, lift up slightly, then slide to the left to remove). With two of the motherboards, the covers would not lift up enough to slide the cover off. The mechanism is jamming, and I really do not want to force them since pulling too hard might damage the motherboard foil runs underneath. Why they didn't just use screws like I still need on all of the other M.2 socket covers is bewildering. I don't know if any of the other models using this design is having this problem, but I've already sent one motherboard back. The other one I'm using a gen 5 SSD in the M.2_5 socket, so I'm not using the M.2_1 socket. UPDATE: I just received a replacement motherboard from the online retailer I shipped the motherboard back to, and this 4th motherboard has the same problem with the M.2_1 socket cover not being able to be removed. I've been in contact with MSI tech support, and they say that they haven't heard from anyone else about this issue. 3 out of 4 ACE MAX motherboards that I've received since November have this problem, yet I'm the only one? Either they aren't selling many, or I'm very unlucky.
HI Lady :) Makes one wonder what the maximum performance increase would be compared to a midrange Z590 board from 2021. I think an overclocked midrange from 2021 would compare to a Z790 stockspeeds. Yet i can not deny the bottlenecks which cause the GPU RTX 40 series to throttle/break at highspeeds (75%). At stockspeed on a I5 11600k, this goes up to 25%. Which is a major drawback since one would not get the maximum out of their GPU performance. On top of that, the RTX4070TI is already its own bottleneck with a memory bandwidth of 192-bit instead of 384-bit. So all in all, with a i7 1470k, new DDR5 XMP2 or better with high frequency/lowest possible latency, PCIe 5 and the fastest M2 SSD you can get, performance increase should be quite noticeable across the board. Assuming water-cooling comes at hand so we can test it as its own max clock speeds within stable limits.
