This rod was designed to be forgiving, caster friendly, and hugely versatile on the water. Fenwick succeeded in creating a rod with performance way above its price range. This rod is accurate at any distance out to 60 feet and one of our favorite trout rods on the market regardless of price. If you’re in the market for a new freshwater fly rod that caters to a wide range of angler ability and works well in any fishing scenario, consider the AETOS.

Question...if the blank is the same as the GR60..and the Aetos has an extra coat....how is it softer? Thanks!

Hey, I was wondering if you guys had any experience with the beulah guide ll?

  • @barry4fish19

This rod does use a little heavier tip top guide than the one on the GR60, perhaps that’s why the tip on the Aetos seems to have more flex at the tip. This effect is even more noticeable on the 8 1/2 ft 4 wt Aetos, which I also have. So, to compensate, I like going with a lighter line, like a Trout taper or a triangular taper. That way, it won’t seem overloaded at close to medium distances. This is a great rod series for the money, but interesting that Fenwick no longer shows the 905 or 864 models on their web site - only the shorter rods and the longer nymphing models of the Aetos. What’s with that?

Don't be tempted, just do it. The only reason not to buy this is you may get rid of your other rods, because this will replace them as your favorite. I have many rods, from low end Redington to the Aetos to Loomis GLX and Sage Z Axis, and the Aetos is one of my favorite fishing rods. If I'm fishing out of a drift boat and the rod may get banged up, I don't take the upper end rods, I take the Aetos. I use the Aetos out of my pontoon boat, too. Now that I'm writing this, why the heck do I have those expensive rods?

Very nice , can you do a review in Fenwick HMG rod?

  • @riverwalker2173

Please do a review on the new Hardy Shadow. I love the burgundy color of the Hardy shadow but I'm very curious how it performs compared to the Aetos and Echo Trout.

Jimmy, not to steal thunder from Trident, but if you're looking for a discussion about the Hardy and the Aetos, check out Yellowstone Angler's reviews. I believe the Hardy Shadow was picked as their best mid-value and the Fenwick Aetos the best budget rod.

That’s Fenwick for ya, but if you can get your hands on one, they’re the best rods in their price range.

Similar to ammo shortages. Haven't seen factory .243 Winchester cartridges for quite some time now. Inflation rate at an all time high, goods availability continuely going down & wages staying stagnant. If you haven't already, learn to fish & hunt WELL. You and your families survival may depend on it the direction this country is going.
