This connector is similar to the Air Train that runs from New York City's JFK Airport to Jamaica Station of the Long Island Rail Road. That costs $5.
BART has an advantage because of the stable climate. No freeze/thaw issues in the way you have in northern winter countries.
now when is Bart gonna take us to San Jose airport too?
As for the $6, everytime I fly out of OAK, its because its at least $20 and even more cheaper than SFO or SJC. $12 RT added isn't bad at all.

Oh, and no traffic tie ups to cause being late for a departuring (outgoing) flight at OAK or SFO.
Why is the manufacturer's name never mentioned? I noticed it's also not listed inside the cars themselves. Is this normal? I noticed the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway similarly doesn't say anything about the manufacturer on their web page. Weird.
The Bart extension was designed and built by a division of Doppelmayr called "Doppelmayr Cable Car" (DCC). The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway has cabins from Doppelmayr Gondola, though most other components of the system such as cable and supports were developed by various other sources or in-house. Additionally, the Aerial Tramway had older cabins which were built by another company called Von Roll.

They forgot to show how you get from the Bart station.
It should be across the platform, but I think they made it cheaper so you need to use an escalator or elevator.
It's sophisticated, but being pulled by cable just doesn't seem to be.
Did I hear right? This is a modern cable car? Gee, haven't our little cable cars that climb halfway to the stars had problems with cables breaking, steel wool knots fouling the grabbing mechanism and other problems? Hmmmm...
This thing should have been built with normal light rail technology. This dumb thing has more in common with a ski lift than an actual rail vehicle. It is impossible to ever extend or improve in any way. It is proprietary, so you're locked into whatever the manufacturer wants to charge you for maintenance. But most importantly, we will never see a faster version, or a new station, or any kind of improvement. Eventually, the whole thing will just be dismantled and trashed.
Why didn't BART think ahead a little and made this thing light rail on a viaduct? It would have cost about the same in the end and would have lasted for centuries!

What a ripoff. You might as well take a taxi. The airtrain at SFO is FREE!
Here's the difference between AirTrain SFO and the Oakland Airport Connector: AirTrain is paid for by a $20 airport fee charged by rental car companies. The Connector doesn't have this luxury; it gets 96% of its revenue from passenger fares. And taxis cost more than the Connector if you're going to the airport from virtually anywhere.
