For the people that are still wondering what bounce is, go watch mark Crossfield video on bounce. Just a few minutes long but explains bounce that is tailored towards a beginner/average golfer. Still a great video here though
I used to play low bounce wedges but dug really bad when i was working on forward shaft lean. Now im playing HiToe 58ATV and 14 bounce on my 54. I do much better now.
I forgot to mention that i have a practice facility close to me where i can pitch and chip from the green itself and it really helps me with using the bounce and staying shallow as to not dig.
It makes no sense to a new golfer though. I came here to learn what bounce is, and left just as confused, other than knowing there's some camber on a wedge to help it cut through sand better. You could tell me the club you're selling me has 12* of bounce or 37* degrees of bounce and I would say "ok."
Interesting, but you never actually clearly explain what "bounce" as a term means. I'm still not sure whether it's the angle of the lowest point of the club or if it's the angle relative to the back cavity or if it's somehow related to the overall loft of the club. I literally have no idea what you're talking about after watching the entire video. You explain the impact of having more or less bounce, but this is essentially useless to the average golfer because the average golfer literally doesn't have any idea what "bounce" means as a metric of evaluating a club. I will fully acknowledge that I'm probably like a 15 handicap and only just got my own set literally two weeks ago, so my opinion should be taken with a massive grain of salt. But still, this seems to me to be a common theme with Taylormade and Callaway Golf channels. Seems like you're making videos for the people that already know the answer to the question the video proposes. Pros only know how to give advice to people that are already pretty good. The reality is that most of us kinda suck. This game is too long, too costly, and too seasonal for most of us to get good. So you NEED to explain these terms in order for me to put any value in the idea that one club is better than another. Wanna get some good, long-time watchers that respect your brand? Just explain every quantifiable measure of a golf swing in lay-man's terms. You will literally become the most watched and respected golf RUclips channel overnight. I live within 30 minutes of at least 17 different golf courses and not a single one will acknowledge that their average player is about my skill level. I know it's true because I see people far worse than me every time I go out. Companies like TaylorMade need to embrace the young guys like myself that have no interest in being the best, but just want to play the game for fun and for a reasonable price. That means including the numbers that you may not like, just to appease the people the otherwise would view you as pretentious, rich pricks.
He spent most of the time explaining GRIND, not Bounce. Bounce is the angle between the trailing edge and the leading edge of the club. Grind is the relief on the toe and heel of the trailing edge. He did give some great info but it had NOTHING to do with bounce and everything to do with grind.
Be nice to see some lower bounce wedges and irons, for tight lie and hard pan courses, plus special people who can take a 50deg/4 and use ot from 120 to green side bunker. Bounce is not everyone friend. 🙁
Can anyone answer this, is there a better bounce off the tee? IE is it easier to hit high or low bounce wedges from the tee or does it make no difference? I want a high bounce approach wedge but fear performance on short par 3 tee shots would be comprimised.
With all due respect to this presenter, who is clearly advanced in his club knowledge, this didn't help me at all. I am an average golfer who wanted to learn something new. While he may be good with the technicals, this presenter is not good at teaching.
Yeah this was nothing like what it should have been. He’s just rattling on, isn’t even correct in what he is saying and is only talking about the most recent product. You need to pull this video Taylormade.
This guy obviously knows his stuff, but can't really explain it to the layman.
Exacty, not a good explainer

Never upload in vertical again though

Well explained. That guy is cool. Taylormade should have him do some instructional stuff too maybe.
stay tuned!
Robert Acierno go check his youtube channel he’s got a lot of cool stuff
What’s his name?
Robert Acierno chris trott
Robert Acierno trot tie golf is his RUclips channel, he has an Instagram page called tourtrucktuesday which is also amazing
I came to this video for answers. I left with more questions.
10 degree bounce on gap. 10 on sand. 8 on lob is what works fo me.
Need to make more content with Chris Trott! Fantastic explanation no bull.

Jon Rahm is watching this like just hurry up and explain it. Your over thinking this whole bounce thing 😂

I heard lots about the components of a wedge. Nothing told me what bounce is and if I need it.
My Man!! Excellent stuff here!
How different are the MG2 to these 2 types of wedges? Am using MG2.

Thanks Chris… top notch explanation! Would have liked to dig down into the pros and cons of the different degrees of bounce but very informative 👍👍
only one problem with this video - he doesn't explain what bounce is....
I think part of Trotties value is that he looks like DJ from the thumbnail
We would've gotten a much closer look if it wasn't filmed in portrait.
Jon Rahm needs that Hi-TOE wedge to help him mash more grass down behind the ball in the rough.
Who the hell plays from the fairways?

How often are you hitting a wedge off a tee?
What a great video, though I am disapointed at the quality of the video from TM. it's like it was uploaded from a phone , very poor.
Can you draw diagram instead ?
Clubs look identical to me
And ummm what is bounce
Maybe should explain camber bc he said it ten times without explaining it
oh yes so helpful

I also really look forward to a time when people like this don’t mire the game of golf. Jesus.
