      @dougbarkdull3469 Because of the support he would receive here. To bring a top tier program back to relevance. Play in one of the nicest arenas in America in front of 24,000 fans every night. Would probably become one of the highest paid coaches in the country. Lots of upside. With NIL and transfer portal this rebuild won't take long. We just need someone who knows what he is doing..unlike Kenny Payne.

    And this in a nutshell symbolizes the lack of perspective and hurried impatience of athletic administrations amid the most chaotic period in college hoops! Kenny Payne was brought into an egregious mess coupled with COVID and a cupboard that was so bare it required a quality and needed time rebuild, to which the Louisville brass didn't provide him the proper resources and time needed to fix what ailed Louisville's struggling program! I don't know about you but what does Louisville's administration expect to happen no matter who replaces Payne and he is a proud Cardinal alum! All I will say to them is good luck because if they gave Payne this short of a leash, it'll be a heck of a long time before they return to glory! This was about as unfair a hand dealt to a coach at the start as I can ever remember, maybe along the lines of what hand Scott Drew was given at Baylor and Baylor provided him the length of rope he needed! Payne wasn't even given an adequate enough chance to build anything! Shame on you Louisville

    • @saviorself1164
      @saviorself1164 10 месяцев назад +2

      You can't win 12 games in 2 years and expect players to want to play for you. They could've given him all the resources in the world, but if you can't coach, you won't win. If you watch the team play, they have completely quit on him. It's not like there is anything to be taken as a positive to look forward to next year. I mean, they lost to division 2 schools, at home, 2 years in a row. One of those was a blowout loss. Most mid major programs wouldn't even keep a coach who sets records for blowout losses and gives you the worst 2 seasons in school history, why should a program the caliber of Louisville be expected to show that kind of leniency?

    I don't feel like Pitino gets his fair share of the blame for what's going on there. That's an insane situation to expect a guy to take over and be some big winner year 2.
    I hope Louisville has put some feelers out before deciding to do this because I find it hard to believe they're going to be able to attract the level of coach they think they deserve away from the jobs they're already at. Louisville may see itself as a top 10 job, but I'm not sure coaches still will if they're going to fire you this fast after they tanked their program so completely. Like do you think Louisville will get a top 10 in the nation coach? I think they're hanging their hat on hoping to find an up and comer, they're not getting Bill Self, Tom Izzo, John Calipari, Mark Few, Tony Bennett, these guys are all locked up aren't they, who's a legitimately top 10 coach who might go there? This situation is bad and I wouldn't be shocked if Kenny Payne finds success before Louisville does.

      @@TheJuarezG nah. Similar success historically. Louisville just a little more recent. That doesn’t make it a better job. They are equal in pretty much every way. Louisville can’t outbid Arkansas financially. They have equal opportunity in recruiting. The facilities are similar if not an edge to Arkansas. The conferences are 1 and 2. Or 1a and 1b depending on who you ask.
      The negatives against stealing from Arkansas this time specifically are, Louisville is in serious damage control mode. They have been dog shit and so any coach is gonna have a REALLY short leash because they have to. Arkansas NIL collective is humming right now making sure the athletes are paid well. Musselman has been able to land pretty much any recruit he wants at Arkansas and his family is happy here. Lower cost of living means his paycheck goes even further.
      The contract offer would have to be ludicrous to poach him. But if you offer a huge contract to anyone, and it doesn’t work out. That’s not a good look. Louisville is probably looking to make the best “budget hire” they can. Because Grade A coaches at good programs aren’t about to come try to right that sinking ship. Louisville gonna have to get someone good, but cheap to at least get the program back above water before most coaches will touch it… unless that coach is already on the way out the door.
      TL:DR Louisville offers absolutely nothing to a coach that Arkansas can’t match, or beat.

    Kenny payne was hired into a sinking ship and blamed for the inevitable. Brought in Skyy Clark. Can't expect a general to win a war with no army.

      Tough situation. Both parties to blame. Yet, Kenny is a failed head coach. Most former Cal assistants usually are.
