The book are actually somewhat good and interesting. But the whole idea....they couldn't make it good. Its one of those things that has to stay a book.

Literally and uglies book came out before divergent divergent basically took insipristion from uglies 😭

I haven’t finish watching the video yet but I read the books (sooooo much better by the way) but I feel like this movie was long overdue and it does hit the same AT ALL unless this movie was made during the time books were being made into movies. So like, 2012-2015
its so sad, because the book is actually really good :(
One of the big points in the book is that the uglies look like rusties or us. Like they’re supposed to look like us and it’s ingrained in them that they’ve been ugly since birth. The books are actually really interesting. There was a lot more slang that had like real history behind them from the world they were in. It was really great world building. Becoming pretty was based on their beauty standards which, in comparison to ours, looked really weird & alien. It was wayyy more than the filter they slapped on haha
I didn’t think this movie was bad per se. As someone who read the books like 10 years ago, I enjoyed the ride and remembering the books. But if I had read the books recently, watched the movie without knowing the books, or had high expectations I think I would’ve hated it 😂 I thought it was fun
as someone who was huge book series fan as a kid, finally having the first movie be made in my adult life was a slap in the face. yall having problems with Paris as a character was only ONE of the things i agreed with you about (hes not even remotely that important in the books- but i suspect they were scared of not having a green light for the next movie and they desperately wanted to shove the dystopian love triangle plot into there, and the actual love-triangle is in book two with Zane/Tally/David)

Yah no this movie was extremely disappointing. I read it when I was a kid, in fact our whole class was reading it, and although the visuals were cool, everything else about this sucked. I was so excited for it and it was super bad😭

I never read the books and after watching it I felt like they tried to do something like Hunger Games, but too quickly and too shallow. Idea was interesting of sort, but rest was kinda meh. AND IT WAS TOO DARK. Like not the mood, but literally I had to guess whats happening sometimes because i couldnt see. And in older movies even when the scene was in the dark, you could see clearly.

Honestly it took 2 days and many pauses because it stressed me out so much to actually continue watching this movie. It so bad.
