Joe Pera has the mannerisms of a 13 year old boy, the body of a 35 year old man and the voice and clothes of an 80 year old man.
He's like personified cognitive dissonance.

You make the BEST comparison I've ever heard about Joe. Rockwell and Pera are both known for their seamless delivery and comforting familiarity, but just like Rockwell was able to both emulate and appreciate Jackson Pollock, Pera just GETS how to get across sincerity as much as armor-piercing humor. His gentleness and milquetoast style work great in the context of the Adult Swim subgenre of comedy; he simply has an unparalleled knack for disarming and memorable comedy.

It’s the sincerity of Joe Pera that really makes his comedy work. Granted, I have no doubt that he exaggerates what he is saying, but I truly believe everything that he says.
my favorite part is when he asks the old couple what their favorite part of the breakfast is, and they say they like the sausage. Joe's head nodding paired with the music get me every time.

This is the best thing I've seen from MTV in a REALLY long time.
I really enjoy listening to Joe. He has a passion for simple things in life: the transfer of liquids from a large container to a small container, a nice community breakfast, early twentieth century songbooks, dog names, nature hikes, a good storm, the VFW, Knights of Columbus, barns in central New York, etc.Being a Midwesterner myself I would enjoy talking with him about the great freighters on the Great Lakes with an emphasis on the Edmund Fitzgerald, and obscure battles of the American Civil War.

The funny part is that you can kind of see the “of course” and the disappointment in his face because he wanted him to say pancakes.
