Idk where all the hate comes from for having the incandescent units with reflectors in a hallway. It has to be something good enough to navigate and the square head units are good with light spread and enough for a hallway. Imo keep them and give them new batteries. By the way the buzzing noise is the sound of the relay switch which is perfectly normal for units with batteries going bad. Once a new battery is put in it will operate normally. Definitely some disadvantages of the incandescent units is that they use heavy bulky lead acid batteries and the plastic tends to be fragile

To an extent, this is technically tampering but more or less the apartment management don't really care for the exit signs in the apartment complex. I've seen dozens of broken exit signs for years throughout the complexs and they have never been replaced. If the apartment complex cared for the exit signs, they would've fixed the other broken ones first. All I'm saying is your not wrong, but most facilities don't care
