I love that they intentionally took a laidback route with this comeback. Taking a step to establish an identity vs just chasing the hits. Just hope that they get the opportunity to play the long game that they clearly want to
Minjis voice adds so much to their sound, I hope she gets more lines going forward. Her tone gives the choruses more chunk around the sparkly vocals.
hyein is on hiatus due a leg injury, so that’s why she’s not in the performance video. they’re also coming out with another double single next month so there’s more songs to look forward to!
Thank you! Someone finally speaking about not having to be a “big belter” in singing. All the fans who don’t know singing are always bringing up high notes but that doesn’t define an artist. Singing style, the tone, and delivery makes a singer so much more unique.
I love that our Minji Bear is gettig more recognition, her voice is so unique and at mature, she has a much deeper tone compare to the other members, it is a very good contrast! Plus her voice it relax me so much.

Wow, your reaction to How Sweet is pretty spot on with mine. I remember listening it on the way to work a week ago and felt something was a little off, but I quickly grew into it. I wasn't expecting them to use their lower vocal registers, but it definitely suited the song.
I can't wait for a dancer's react to this, I absolutely love the choreography for it.

I tried to listen to them before and it just didn't click, but 'How Sweet' had me at first listen and now I'm vibeing with their previous music as well. Given the group's current conflict with Hybe, the influence of these sponsors is important whether we like it or not. The How Sweet mv has been restricted in many countries and even many comments supporting the group have been deleted. NewJeans needs all the help possible against the very company that said it would continue supporting them despite the conflict.

Newjeans have been ambassadors of coke studio since debut so they have done many campaigns with them but how sweet is part of an album with bubble gum. I imagine they just sponsored how sweet juts like eta was with apple(newjeans are also ambassadors of aple)

These are my girls! I love how sweet, i think it might beat eta and cookie for me but it might just be a recency bias thing so i wont speak too soon . However i dont love bubblegum, i think its my least fav of their songs as of rn.
To answer what you were asking about Coca Cola. This is a single EP, not really part of the actual new album that will be released this june, which already has a teaser out that sounds more like the New Jeans we know. Both these songs are like teasers for what's about to come rather than the actual release. Hence why they did this as a marketing campaign for Coca Cola as well.
The album that's coming out in June is their Japanese debut and that's also a single album with two songs. A full album is suppose to come later this year.

혜인이 발등 부상으로 빠진게 너무 아쉽지만, 이번에도 뉴진스 다운 노래라서 좋았음. 마이애미 베이스의 통통 튀는 음악에 힙합 느낌 스러운 댄스까지 내 취향이라 너무 좋음. 개인적으로 뭔가 조금더 첨가 됐으면 풍성해질수 있었을텐데 일부러 과감하게 빼버린 느낌이 드는데.. 그러면서도 뉴진스 특유의 그 비트와 벌스는 유지한것도 좋았고, how sweet 처음 시작할때 해린의 파트가 딱 그 느낌.

interesting take on their vocals... i usually find their tones very pleasant, but felt the delivery was lacking in both these songs. Especially how sweet, its one of their longest songs and they really could've elevated it if they changed up the delivery each chorus and did more adlibs. Also this was indeed a weird comback with the lack of promo/teasers and both songs being used for commercials.

It does feel more laid back for sure and is the least pop/hook heavy in the usual sense in terms of energy. I think vocally it's my favourite though but I get what you mean.

I personally think how sweet is one of their best songs up there with Hybe boy and attention. And not to mention the choreography is insane too in my opinion. one of my favourites ever from a girl group. The way they are doing choreo like a boy group would and I love it!
It feels weak because these are less ‘hyped up’ songs. They are going for a laidback concept this comeback, citypop 80s/90s and less y2k which they did with Hype boy etc. By far their best comeback imo. They even got that 80s pop n lock moves in their choreography which screams Beatstreet(1984).

I feel like how sweet didn’t really go anywhere. Like the same tone all throughout the song, no climax. It’s a good song.. to listen in the mall. But as a comeback it really doesn’t hold a candle to ANY of their previous releases. And I’m not a Super Shy fan either for reference.
