If you’re slightly mechanically inclined, keep a socket set and wrenches in your car for sure. If you drive an older car, keep a quart of oil in there too. Bungees/ratchet straps also.
Great advice.
My car has odd sized lug nuts so I make sure I keep a socket in that size.
Just stay home. 😂
Oil and high temp duct tape in case you hit your oil pan.
Jumper cables
You forgot toilet paper. Saved me more than once. Goes well with the shovel 😅
Preach brother! Lol
Keep a roll of paper towels instead, they'll get the job done plus they have more uses
wet wipes and also surgical alcohol along with TP
@@thatguy9502 I soak my wet wipes in alchol and gasoline. One wipe is all it takes.
@@ericstrunck3611 that's funny 😂
An addition I love: Tire Plug repair kit if you get a nail or hole in a tire and a tire inflator.
... or a spare tire
@@trharrington22 ideally. My vehicles have little donuts and one doesn’t come with a spare at all anymore! Just the slime and an inflator.
@Captainzilla418 that's the stupidest thing I read all day
Hahaha
Or just use your spare
You have really perfected these short videos and I truly appreciate what you do. Take care.
Also something to stay warm - blanket, sleeping bag, coat, emergency blanket at a minimum, and firestarting.
Emergency snack food too.
And toilet paper.
@@davenz000 you two nailed it. Those will be the biggest life savers
And a pack of lighters, a tarp.. make the canteen metal for boiling water in
Emergency bugles lol
@@travisallard3509 a beagle might be useful in an emergency, as it can yield a significant amount of meat for sustenance.
Tire plug, quart of oil, ratchet straps, and at least a few importantly sized wrenches are a must have especially in an old fighter like mine (580k miles and counting still going strong)
580K?! What do you drive, an Abrams tank?
I have all that except a cold steel military shovel, small cookset with an alcohol stove, 2lb axe and a 14 inch samurai saw, fishingrod and lure box
A full change of cloths and rubber boots with a sleeping bag, 1 gallon water and 2 days food.
Before I met my wife sometimes after work on Friday I would just feel I had to get out of the city and would just leave for the weekend right there and then....it was liberating and you really can make due with a minimalist kit
Take care Cody
Toilet paper? Always have toilet paper
Sounds manly as fk
@@truter5243 Being in in construction taught me to always keep TP in my vehicle.
those cold steel shovels are the stuff
Sigma male
Forgot to mention the really good bag to put it all in so they don't become flying projectiles.
I keep my car kit stuff in a husky tool bag.
Among my kit: A really good set of long jumper cables. Hammer. Small SAE/Metric socket set. Some large trash bags. Roll of 2” packing tape. Large Cylume light sticks.
Just used my Noco jump pack this morning to help someone.
Flip socket set and a 1/2” breaker bar to get lug nuts off. Orange Mylar poncho for rain protection, visibility and can be used as a “space blanket”. A small axe (24-28”) and a 14”+ long saw (Fiskars or Silky) Flares for signaling or fire starting. The original Leatherman has accompanied me every day for the last 30 years or so - my favorite multi tool. Spare cash, $100 or more in various bill denominations. A wool blanket for warmth, cushioning or fire suppression.
I like this format a lot, short and too the point with no fluff. I learn something from almost everyone of these quick bits. I would Recommend baby wipes. Yes you can survive without them, but they're sure is nice to have.
I've got a 24 year old Leatherman my wife got me for our first Christmas. Best gift ever. I use it almost every day. Still not worn out. One of my most prized possessions.
The wife or the leatherman ?
A RUclipsr that uses Surefire and Leatherman and isn't shilling olight?
My brother in Christ you just got a new subscriber!
I love surefire as well, I just got tired of replacing the 123A 3v batteries all the time. Their too expensive and you can’t find good rechargeable versions of it, so I settled with olight and it’s brighter
@@vince2997 I've had good luck with the Surefire rechargeable 123a batteries.
@@johnkunis353 I did too but the problem was that I upgraded my stream light to a higher lumen bulb (1200) I believe and the 123 couldn’t handle it for very long. Lol
Hey man I have admirably watched a lot of your content. Due to your degree of enthusiasm and strait forward attitude to get things done I am going to have to start a list of RUclips Dads. You sir will be sitting at the top, you are single handedly giving masculinity and Dad like education to the masses. Thank you man, I really mean it for the bottom of my heart. Thanks.
I live in the mountains like you do. I have most of what you have and alternatives too. Communication is most important where we live. Cellphone is okay mainly in the city area, but you'll need a backup out here. GMRS or a HAM radio, I admit I carry both.
One is none, and two is one.
Jumper cables or a starting device is on top of my list of things to carry in all of my vehicles
I'm in east Texas and I have a roll of bailing wire in my kit.
Does that work at the border?
Hey John what’s the purpose of the bailing wire?
Yep bailing wire and mule tape are in my truck box.
@BusyBeeFarms “Busy Bee Farms” Obviously not too busy to leave pretentious comments on over 50 of wrangler stars RUclips videos 😂😂😂😂😂
Thank you for supporting Refuge Medical. They are great. No better medical kits anywhere.
My grandfather always said to keep a tin can with a waterproof bag of matches, a candle and some type of blanket, he has used these many times, he almost froze to death in Colorado but the combo is just enough to keep you from freezing to death, he made a fire and cooked trout with the can when his battery died when he was all alone, when he witnessed a terribly gruesome traffic accident, he covered an “unalive” person with the blanket till paramedics arrived, in every one of my vehicles, i have kept those items just in case
Finally something 99% of us can actually afford. Thanks Cody!
No rolex or satellite phone?
Most people can afford a Rolex if it’s an important enough priority to them. It’s just that other things frequently get in the way and luxury items are first on the back burner.
@@Mr1121628 true, i can afford a 911 i just have to move my priorities around by living in it
That medical kit is almost 300 bucks, I would just build your own first aid kit
Wow, never thought I’d get to be part of the 1%
A guy I worked with once pointed out that a can or even two of fix a flat will not inflate a tire that's flat on the ground. He recommended a small floor jack(and a board to put it on) . Wal mart and home depot both have affordable options. Also ,rechargeable flashlights that also take batteries are a good idea. Make sure you have the proper cord.
Just thought of another one that seems really dumb... Tie-straps!! There is NO EXCUSE to not strap down your cargo.. $20 gets you a four-pack of 1000# ratchet straps. In Starbucks math, that's one drink per strap. I've seen far too many sheets or plywood, lumber, ladders, mattresses and couches on the freeway to count..
Strap it down!! Add one more strap, it won't kill you...... But could save the person behind you!
"Starbucks math"🤣 I love it!
what starbucks drink costs 5 dollars now? 🧐
@@TeslaGengar um... maybe their Tall regular coffee?? not sure, I dont go there anymore.. too expensive for my wallet! besides.. I bought a pack of straps, so my coffee budget is blown. 🤣
@I don't know who Brandon is but F*CK TRUMP "being poor" or being disinterested in spending $5+ for a cup of coffee?? The value just isnt there for me. $100k/yr, $100m/yr if you dont like it, the price will still not be worth it.
Not to mention a lawsuit.
I always keep those green army blankets as well and bungie cords. Good line up, ever since my time in the army, I always made sure I had all this stuff in my truck and then some.
+ Combined glass breaker / Seat belt cutting tool.
Just watched 2 videos this week that people couldn't get victims out of burning vehicles bc they couldn't break the glass. I'm my Search and rescue truck each visor has one.
The reason you can pull the head rest out of your two front seats is that the bars on the end are for breaking your glass, that is why the come out!
My eldest daughter gave all 6 of us one, for our cars in the late 1980's; still haven't used it .
@@bobbyknoth6985 ours don’t come out😂
Very comprehensive and beautifully put together. We all appreciate your work!
As a shitbox owner, I already have half of these in my car lol
Also a jumpstart cable is a must
That’s a great Christmas list for someone you love
When you watch it and realise you already have everything in the video in your truck💪
I know what you mean!
Just more info: You want a type B fire extinguisher. Theyre used for combustible liquids which is what youre likely going to come across in a car
Flares!!
Gotta have some flares just for emergencies.
LED ones are the way to go now.
I want to add something to the list of things should always keep in your car for emergencies a freaking printed map with the written directions of where the hell you're going on a long trip because eventually in an emergency you're going to lose GPS you're going to lose cell phone connection and you're going to have to know where you're going.
Just happened to me last weekend just past midnight too! Luckily, there was another car passing through. I followed them ~1.5hrs until I was able to remember the rest of the way back home.
snatch bock, air pump, and blanket too
You're an interesting guy! Thanks for the content. Appreciate how you're telling us to prep, without telling us to prep.
You forgot the get home bag. Food and water for at least 24 hours, shelter, fire, and socks, in case you have to do some serious walking. Radio would be useful too.
Just stay home. 😂
I love this channel❤🙏
Something good to know:The reason that your head rest come out of the front seats is so you can use the bars to break your glass, that is why they come out!
Plus 12 foot x 12 foot square of ripstop nylon with grommets in each corner plus cord/stakes so aerial searchers can spot you.
Dude what’s great is you’re teaching me that I’ve always been prepared. You’re showing me new a better techniques to store my gear, and teaching me new skills also. Your channel is by far my favorite. You have to keep up the good work people like me count on it! Also I was a Volunteer fire fighter for 13 years so you’re my brother.
And stuff it all into a Bugout Bag so it can all be grabbed at once instead of bouncing around in the cabin.
And add a spaceblanket.
This is an excellent vid!
Do a long vid about all these items!
Links for each of the items where to buy them would be great!
Thanks for all the smart everyday useful tips!
I'd add a quick clot to the med bag if it doesn't have one, a sleeping bag or heavy blanket along with food like nuts or energy bars and a tire plug kit, oil and antifreeze, a tool kit, electrical tape and a lighter.
Better have a can or two of fix a flat or DC powered air compressor
Just stay home. 😂
@@garypulliam3740I hope you never break down or have any unplanned accidents. I myself am not staying home. Do as you will. I speak from experience. Advise is free, you can take it or leave it. Sounds like you just wanted to let me know you're leaving it. That's fine.
“ Don’t think you’ll never have problems on the road, and don’t ever think you can always rely on someone else when you do”
My grampa and dad both kept a small tote of essentials in their vehicles and preached to me as a young adult to do the same.
I can’t tell you how many times that wisdom passed down to me has paid off in spades.
now in the summer heat you might want to bring multiple canteens of water and not just one
I don't have the shovel, I have everything else.
Cody do you have a preference on the leather for the gloves? I hear deer is good for stacking wood and cow is good for using tools, but wanted to know your opinions.
I’d buy the cheapest gloves you can. Never found a pair of leather gloves that didn’t get holes in the fingers after hard use
@@WINOtinkery I second that. I have destroyed cow, goat, horse, deer, lamb, and synthetics with in a few weeks use. 10$ gloves all the way to Hestra.
@@catdaddy666 I can’t stand when ultra thick gloves quickly get holes in the finger tips. Honestly go bare handed…gets you nice and strong.
I have nearly all these plus more. Thanks wrangler
Everyone who has owned and used that shovel will tell you it last about 30 minutes before the hinges start breaking apart, unless you’re scooping it out a tablespoon at a time.
That's why you're supposed to buy a good one, not one from Walmart.
@@deplorable-0ne Walmart and Amazon didn’t even sell them when I had mine. Pretty sure Amazon didn’t even exist like it does now. Mine was legit and expensive but the design is garbage, more aesthetic than functional. The only use it has is snow or sand (sand is optimistic). You’ve neither owned one or used one so please just stop.
@vokemxnosexpertmodding1741 stop what? I have 2 of them. One from 20+ years ago that is military surplus and one I bought a few years ago at Walmart. The surplus one works great and has worked great being abused, the Walmart one is not so good. So you stop whatever you were referring to. You must have got a cheap one from some other brand discount store before Walmart.
@@deplorable-0ne nope but keep trying
@vokemxnosexpertmodding1741 by your lack of any detail in your response tells me I'm right.
Self jumpers are a life saver also. I Enjoy your videos!
Cody, are you using something automated to do the paning shot or is someone manually pushing the cam on a track or something?
Always enjoying your videos and the increasing production value. You're a craftsman, for sure.
He could be shooting in a wide format and pan in post-production, since shorts are a vertical format.
I’ve had an oh leather man for ten plus years it’s from the 70s and still my favorite
I don’t have these particular items but I do have each thing and more in my truck
And a way to keep warm!!!! Lighters.
I don’t recommend “military” grade for anything you own, spend the extra money and get a civilian grade tool
Lowest bidder
Have had all that for decades. I managed to escape the Army with my original E tool. I like Nebo lights. Rechargeable, and bright. I also recommend a pack of ratchet traps, and a hatchet.
Lmao I’m sorry but the term “professional homeowner sounds silly af’.
I love your videos btw, keep up the great work sir.
It means one that is not owned by your bank, which you have to pay till you die. It's already paid for or you built it yourself.
It's sort of a high school level misapplication of the word professional. Prepared, conscientious, or responsible all work far better, and are logical.
Maybe he gets paid, for being a home owner.
Act accordingly
Absolutely! Amen! I have most of all this in mine. Also add a few rolls of yer fave TP, roll of paper towels, and a shadow tool bag (duplicate of most important tools - hammer, pliers, screwdrivers, extension cords, some batteries, etc. )
Greetings from Chile
I got that NOCO jumper, it worked so easy!
You forgot the jumper cables, Jack, wrench, and pack kit
The battery serves as jumper, might also come with cables.
That what the Noco charger is for. They work really well. No need to use jumper cables because electrical systems are too sensitive to handle a mis-timed ignition during jumping.
I sometimes chuck a kitkat on the passenger seat when I set off
The fire extinguisher I have a complaint about. The biggest that you can find should be in any vehicle. At least one. And if you are in a side-by-side? If you have run across a burning vehicle on the trail. You will need at least five of the biggest. Just saying even if it is your own vehicle.
No one is going to have 5 fire extinguishers in their vehicle or side by side. One may be enough to knock down a small fire or be enough to extricate someone from the car but you aren't expected to compete with the fire services.
your knowledge is golden cody
“Professional Homeowner” hahhahahaa I’m dead
I agree, what the hell does that mean? 😂
I've studied for 4 years at college to be a homeowner. So after I work at Walmart, because no one will hire you with a homeowner degree, I'll be able to professionally own a home in 20 years
@@the_sweet_release6398 probably just scared to say landlord

Does anyone from a hot climate have experience with keeping one of those Noco chargers in the car? I live in Texas, but am worried that something might happen to it in the summer heat.
Yeah let us know
I live in SoCal and it'll be 100 or more in my car at any given time so it is fine I have the gooloo 4000 which is basically the Chinese equivalent of the Noco he has. Project farm also did a extensive test on these and it came down to the noco and gooloo
@@bastionwolf
Yes exactly those two seem the best.👍
Just one newer: Hulkman Alpha
which was kickstarted, is supposed to be the ‘apple’ of jump starters. One model has a self heating function, to make it work in cold/freezing temps…
Didn’t check heat tolerance, yet.
@@bastionwolf Thank you
You can just carry the spare battery in your EDC bag
I know you have the charger but carrying jumper cables has saved me and allowed me to help others so many times ive lost count
I keep both in my CRV, but not that little battery. Also have 20' 00 gauge jumper cables
The noco is not a little charger. It is a jumpbox. So you can start your own vehicle even if no one else is around. Of course, you can assist someone else with it too.
A professional? Homeowner?!
He likes making names up to feel more importanté
Failing to refold that shovel is the realest thing I've ever seen. I swear it never folds that final step.
Its all shits and giggles until someone giggles and shits
What does this mean??? 😂
Move upstream.
I keep a USB powered fan, a battery bank, a propane buddy, a change of clothes, a sweater, a bic lighter plus a car port lighter, a few bottles of water, some rope, a tarp and a small pillow in my truck.
The USB powered fan, the pillow, and the tarp are so nice to have this summer. I'm often invited to bbqs or other outside get togethers and having a way to keep a little bit cooler, a way to sit down when it's damp, and a way to make anywhere I sit a little more comfortable is so nice.
I don’t understand what a “professional homeowner” is.. ? Do I own my home and I am professional at it or do I get the higher title down the road?
Someone who gets paid for being a home owner.
Great idea.. Especially the Rope & Flashlight
All these comments and I'm just trying to figure out wtf a professional homeowner is
Normal everyday people that put in a little extra effort and care to go above and beyond being a bump on a log and to ensure that they have the bare minimum resources Knowledge and Skills in place to take care of themselves their families and their communities when called upon

Check list is complete .
Few do this Sir !
I make sure all my vehicles have MRE's and Mylar sleeping bags and usually a few plastic rain ponchos. Might never need them but good always to be prepared.
looks like a murder kit lol
A murder kit needs a tarp and deer dressing set....
I also have a PST leather man one of my all time favorite multi tools. Yeah no magnets or whatever but great tool made very well.
Man i know im laying in bed but you dont gotta call me a resting beaner
Going full time in the woods. Thank you for this
Boy, you're right about that Leatherman. I have the original Supertool and I don't let it out of my sight. My buddy send his in to have work done on it and they sent him back a "newer model" as replacement. Big bummer for him but a lesson for me about their unwillingness to make new replacement parts of the old models.
What happened to your Russian military shovel? I bought one of those years ago when you posted about it.
He left siting around to long so a Ukrainian farm with a tractor dragged it to his farm.
And I bought a 940 benchmade that's a lot more delicate than my gerber EDC and ridiculously expensive.
Chains! The weather can change in a heartbeat where I am. The tire plug kit is a great idea, however if you catch it too late you need a source to inflate the tire.
I'll just leave the kids at home to take all my survivor gear with me
I just happen to have all of this in each of my tow trucks, and service vehicles.
I love the PST multitool, I have a PST II myself
Happy to say I have all these items!!!
I went on Amazon and also got a few of the SOS calorie bars, and the survival nutrition tabs for extra food just in case.
Wow i have each one of these in my truck . But my flash light is a head lamp and my canteen is metal and i always keep a colapsable bow saw .That makes me very happy
Our trunk kit included a pair of sturdy boots.
I've had noco jump box for about 10 years. it's a beast!
4 way, jack, and spare tire .
I'm AMAZED seeing the flat tire disabled vehicle.
You’re killin it keep it up 👍🏼
I would add a couple snatch blocks. Extremely useful in so many situations.
Noco is one of the best budget yet reliable brands I've found throughout my life, and I ain't going back from it
Professional Homeowner? Sounds like you get paid to own a home. That's the dream!
That was a good encouragement to me.
It is all common sense.
What I find so funny is,
I carry all that in my truck already for years.
no rope for snatching though.
My truck couldn’t handle that.
But I do carry line in there.
Wool blanket. Good in bush fires, cold weather and cold mornings at kids sporting events.
In the military, it's called an entrenching tool, or "E" tool for short. It's very versatile. It can be used as a weapon,, and it has a serrated edge that can be used to chop, use as a hoe, pick, and shovel. And it can be used as a seat.
