Yeah sweep will work, though I would try the labs spiral node or use a wrangle node to build a spiral curve...or use the sweep node too...all ways will work.:)
This is so nice! Gonna use it in my cloth production pipeline ( these are a bit too big words, but let's go with it hah ;p) for things like little ropes in hoodies. Just importing curves from blender, popping it in the nodes and I got it in few seconds. Thank you!
Hey man. Thanks a ton for these tutorials. So I'm just getting started with Houdini, I was trying to do a dynamics simulation. So I was following your tutorial on RBD bullet solver. I'm currently using version 17 of Houdini as the latest version is causing some errors. I'm having a bit old configuration. My question is that, Is there an alternative for the sweep node in Houdini as version 17 doesn't have the sweep feature as shown in this tutorial. So I'm stuck at convert line - carve node (according to your rbd bullet solver tutorial). Don't know how to proceed from there. It would be great if you could help me out with this. Thanks in advance.
Yes, in Houdini 17 the sweep node is very different. To create the shapes with the old sweep ode, you'll have to feed in your own profile curves into the first input of the H17 sweep node, and the second input is the profile. So in the case of the Building, you can make a square profile curve using the grid node and feed that into the first input of the H17 sweep node...then feed in the profile lines we create after using the convert line node. Then you should have the swept shapes. That should get you going again.
