Absolutely correct. They are running the poor horse into the ground.

You weren't the only one. I was at Ascot, and found it a piss poor day for selections. At least you got The Gatekeeper, I left before that race thinking I'd get a comfortable spacious train home, only to find about 1,000 others also left before the last, plus, the train got delayed for another 20 minutes, so the ride home was heaving.

What a race. I wasn't on it but thought it'd win. I'm an outside better. I won £812 on The Gatekeeper with a £20 ew. Boom.

Broome looks like he's had enough these days. Please retire him as he's been a loyal servant.

He won 1 race at 2 mile in UAE. But now its been fairly pointless half killing. This would be more 3mile to him on that ground.

Even with the awful ground it was still a great days racing with some top performances. Frankie got the Hollywood "send off" even after Kinross bottling it. King of Steel and Big Rock both getting the group 1's their season deserved. Definitely a day for front runners and the bookies though with only KoS winning from off the pace and Ballydoyle having a rare blank group 1 day.

      Now you actually say that.
It was often their 4 year old Mares who ran best in the Champion stakes.
The Colts always seem burnt out.

@@joemac9249 in fairness to Coolmore they rarely send their best horses to this meeting, they focus on Irish champions and then Arc/BC. But with Aidan having such a poor record in the English champion and Arc it shows Coolmore were too focused mainly on breeding fast ground horses but have started to change tack now investing in different sires now and going by their 2 year olds this year it's starting to pay off with them not being so fast ground dependent. I expect to see another Arc come their way in the not too distant future.

@@frankelforever14 No I totally get the best horse they go Epsom and Irish Derby so he wins. Then Eclipse. Usually or Irish Champion.
But they must hate losing that Irish derby 😂 I'd say that kills the Magniers the most.
The Ascot Champion Stakes seems way down which is a pity.
Is the Arc really to blame or Breeders cup? The weather.
We know they love the BC like Godolphin do!!

@@joemac9249 yes they certainly are big supporters of BC, in fairness I wouldn't bother watching it only for Coolmore continually sending horses over for it even though it's at the end of their season. I don't know what the issue with the Arc is, soft/heavy ground certainly a factor for a lot of their derby winners not performing in it but there has to be more to it. The French prep for it is working for them so not sure why Aidan doesn't train a couple of his better horses with similar prep, take in the French derby then rest them, restart them in the French Arc trials which are usually run at a sedate pace and then freshen them up for the big day. He has the resources to do it so not sure why they haven't followed this blueprint if they want to add to their Arc tally. The derby seems to take a lot out of horses that have won it so instead of running 3-4 in it save one of them for an Arc campaign is what I'd think about doing.

Most of his good horses are in North America gearing up for the Breeders Cup.
