Horse clearly jinks to the left after the last and he is trying to boot it out to get it running again so his feet are high in the irons. Have to say I don't like those false rails - they are an accident waiting to happen and you can see the horse does a similar move about a furlong earlier at the junction. What you see on screens around the country is delayed by up to 10 seconds which is due to satellite and internet connections. From monitoring the exchange betting it's fairly obvious that people at the track are taking advantage of that delay and betting on something they know the outcome of before the mugs sitting at home do. On overseas racing it's even more obvious, just watch the exchanges and you'll know the outcome just by monitoring the odds on offer.

He pulls the horse’s head back as he is taking the jump. Who does that? That was fixed. I rode and did jumping 40+ years. Not professionally. Day one told you lean forward, don’t pull reins back as you jump to make it easier for the horse.

He only pulls its head back slightly as the horse makes a mistake, preventing it from nodding on landing and possibly falling. This was the right thing to do and there wasn’t anything dodgy about that, it was as he landed in one piece that he made the mistake of putting all of his balance on his left foot, so that when the horse hung left, he had nowhere to go apart from down.

Lets say 5million, its cheaper to strike a deal with a jockey and say we will give you 500k to take a fall if you end up in first place before the line.
