I actually have that Chi Chi card in my original Gohan deck that is stored away in my closet from when that game was first out as well....Talk about nostalgia. Also, I think the Darth Maul head numbers are just set numbers for the card same as mtg cards are numbered each set.
I remember Young Jedi being an actually pretty fun little game. Decipher actually had a red come to our local Barnes & Noble when it was coming out and they had a pyramid of demo decks that they let those of us you came have.

Trying to make these into MtG cards using random things from the cards: Totosai - Legendary good male Demon - 3/3 for CMC 5 Sacrifice Totosai: Reveal the top 5 cards of your library and put any equpment so revealed onto the battlefield under your control. Put the remaining cards on the bottom of your library in any order. Dark Elf - Elf Wizard - 5/2 for CMC 4 Defender Pay 2 life: Dark Elf loses Defender until end of turn. Darth Sidius - Legendary Sith Master - 5/6 for CMC 4 Ichigo - Legendary Substitute Sould-Reaper - 5/3 for CMC 3 Discard a Legendary card: Ichigo gets +2/+2 until end of turn. Use only on another player's turn and once per turn. JarJar's Electro Pole - Equipment - CMC 4 Equip 1d6 (Declare an equip attempt and roll a d6. If you remove all damage from Goku. Goku gains +4/+0 while attacking.
Fun fact! Magi-nation was created as a sleeper to get young kids into Magic, so the two systems actually have a lot in common. Also for a good long while it was way easier to get Duel Masters in my hometown than Magic.
>Magi-nation was created as a sleeper to get young kids into Magic Ehhh... unless you have a source on that, I am going to have to call BS. I've interacted with one of the artists in the last (Holmberg) and was fairly in-tune with the game, and the folks at Interactive Imagination, and their goal never seemed to be to get young kids into anything except maybe more Magi-Nation. As I was a younger adult when I got into Magi-Nation, and most of the audience I ever interacted with (beyond my friends) seemed to be the same age group, 18-24, there was no guidance towards getting "young kids into Magic", especially since there is literally no crossover between anyone at II and Wizards of the Coast. Your name however, is appropriate.
They have cards from all but the last two iterations of any Dragon Ball card game. No Panini and no Bandai. With all the other Score cards, a YYH card would have been nice, you're right there.
Fun fact: That last goku card and sasuke, does in fact share the game system, so while you cannot mix cards from both games, you can totally play a naruto deck against a dragon ball one and be totally legal about it. I've heard that there were actually tournaments of both games together. The characters "have 2 toughness", when dealt damage they take the injured status and get turned sideways, that's were the side stats matter, they usually get weaker, with exceptions. Once they take damage again while injured they die.
I love seeing other CCGs that I don't know anything about, so this is one of my favorite episodes of Crack a Pack. Do I have a random box full of X-Files, Doomtown, Mythos, Hyborian Gates, Star Wars, Star Trek, etc.? Yes
Makes me wanna get in contact with Paul, to sneak in a modified pack full of coreset cards and commander cards in a Ravnica style. The wrap has a similar style, and says in a small font: "I cannot believe it's not" & a big "Ravnica"
"now i just wanna equip jar jar bink's electro pole to goku and fight emperor palpatine..." don't worry it'll come, that's what universes beyond is for!
so 2 reasons why i did that: 1. actually have ONE mtg card in there was way funnier than not and 2. the way i packed it had it at the back of the stack with its back facing the front of the package to hide that it wasnt at all mtg if you looked closely at the front of the pack
As someone who was REALLY into Duel Masters, and still has their collection, I can say the reason the 1 was upside down is because there are no land cards in Duel Masters. Instead you can play a card upside down, and tap it for resources equal to the number in the circle. So Burning Mane costs 2 (at least one has to come from a nature card), has 2000 power, and can be played upside down to provide one resource. Despite this card being a common, I've never actually owned one myself. lol
In fact, Graham, the Duel Masters card is literally that game's equivalent of Grizzly Bears. It costs 2 mana and has 2000 power. (P/T are not separate values in DM, every creature has just the one number.) Wizards of the Coast intentionally designed DM to be like Magic, but simplified. Oh, and the upside down 1 is there to represent a point of mana. DM doesn't have lands; you can just play any card from your hand upside down once per turn and then tap it for mana.
I was actually rather sad when Duel Masters died in English because conceptually the game itself really does feel like a slightly different version of Magic that "fixed" some of the problems with Magic. Well at least before they went truly crazy with things that they decided they couldn't do with Magic...like a 4 (or 5?) sided card.
The 1 is upside-down on the Duel Masters card because in Duel Masters every card can be played as a mana source. So in your "land pile" you'll have a bunch of upside-down cards that tap for the color the card is.
So, Young Jedi. you missed the cost, that is the silver pips in the upper left hand corner, Sidious costing 5 and Jar Jar's Electrapole costing 1. The damage number on Sidious is the amount of damage you take when your character is destroyed, damage being cards discarded from the top of your deck. when Your deck is empty you lose. The location strip on Sidious as well as his card color denotate that he is a Coruscant card and the red pips denotate that he is +2 power while the battle is happening in the Capital City location as opposed to the Jedi Council Chamber or the Galactic Senate. Being aligned with Coruscant he never gets a bonus when the battle is happening on Tatooine or on Naboo but he can be played there. The Darth Maul is the set Icon, "Menace of Darth Maul", and the number with it is just the cards set number. Jar Jar's Electrapole is a weapon card type when on any character it adds a destiny draw to their power in battle. When used with Jar Jar it adds 2 power and a destiny draw, thus the red pips. The really crazy thing you did not notice was the deck building pips along side the lower right hand corner, Sidious being Red and the electrapole being Orange. The way deck building worked is all you had to do is have 10 of each of the colors to form a 60 card deck, and you also had to have at least one location for all three planets.
The upside down one on the Duel Masters card denotes that it can be played as a mana source instead of as a monster and that it taps for one. I don't remember if mana in DM had colors, but there you go.
Decipher made the only CCG's that really gave MTG competition, Star Wars CCG and Star Trek The Next Generation CCG. Young Jedi was created as a game to attract younger (Jr. High, Elementary) players, as the game mechanics were far simpler to understand. The Darth Maul image is the set symbol. The two red dots are bonuses to combat. The number in the upper right would be used in a random draw to help decide combat.

Instead of a Crack-A-Pack, we got a Pack On Crack.
An amazing range of cards that any 6-year-old back in 2004 would love to have.
You’re the best Graham. You just invented a multiverse cube draft game. Rules would be like Calvin ball.
Wait! You forgot to select a first pick!
I vote Chi-Chi because she'd get angry if we don't. You really don't want to get on her bad side.
8:07 for those who don't know the numbers on the original Duel Masters cards are upside down because you play them upside down as a "land" drop and thats how much mana they tap for and this was on ALL the cards. So you had the option of saving a dropping card a high mana card or using it later.
If you've played MTG you've played Duel Masters
The amount of whiplash I endured by being catapulted a dozen years into the past upon hearing "Magi Nation" is probably lethal
I actually enjoy these when they aren't part of TTC podcast, since then I'm always sad I'm not getting Magic stuff but here? It's just funny content. Still maybe a little sad it wasn't 15 bump in the nights
no i did that too years ago. ttc like... 70 something if im remembering correctly. i bought 2 packs of homelands, 7 bumps and 1 foil bump. i swapped the pack contents
Oh, man, I love random cards with no context. I've got one from Spellfire called "Weasel Attack" that has a photo of a man covered in weasel cat-toys screaming in agony. Right on the front of my MTG binder.
If it wasn't Seattle 2019 this could have been a "witty" comment on Universes Beyond
Those quotation marks are doing heavy work
Magi Nation deserved so much more love back in the day. It would really work well as a digital game nowadays.
Magi Nation was such a fun card game honestly. It sucks that it no longer is around. I actually have that Chi Chi card in my original Gohan deck that is stored away in my closet from when that game was first out as well....Talk about nostalgia. Also, I think the Darth Maul head numbers are just set numbers for the card same as mtg cards are numbered each set.
im not sorry for this. i am so dead from laughing. it was so worth it
Magi Nation was a great game, and I am forever sad that it never really took off.
Agreed. I still have all my cards, as do several friends. We’re hoping to find time to play soon.
I remember Young Jedi being an actually pretty fun little game. Decipher actually had a red come to our local Barnes & Noble when it was coming out and they had a pyramid of demo decks that they let those of us you came have.
A Magi-Nation card?! So awesome to see! That’s my favorite card game.
Man these magic reams crossover cards are getting weird. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to tap my Dracula's Castle to cast my Mothra, Supersonic Queen now. Or my opponent's Mike, the Dungeon Master is going to kill me. Can't wait till next year so I can equip a 40k Chainsword to Gandalf!
This was great and we need you to do another one sometime!
I love that most of the cards in this were technically rares.
Trying to make these into MtG cards using random things from the cards:
Totosai - Legendary good male Demon - 3/3 for CMC 5
Sacrifice Totosai: Reveal the top 5 cards of your library and put any equpment so revealed onto the battlefield under your control. Put the remaining cards on the bottom of your library in any order.
Dark Elf - Elf Wizard - 5/2 for CMC 4
Defender
Pay 2 life: Dark Elf loses Defender until end of turn.
Darth Sidius - Legendary Sith Master - 5/6 for CMC 4
Ichigo - Legendary Substitute Sould-Reaper - 5/3 for CMC 3
Discard a Legendary card: Ichigo gets +2/+2 until end of turn. Use only on another player's turn and once per turn.
JarJar's Electro Pole - Equipment - CMC 4
Equip 1d6 (Declare an equip attempt and roll a d6. It costs that much to equip to that target that turn, only one equip attempt may be made per turn): Equipped creature gains +X/+0 where X is the equip cost. If the equipped creature is a JarJar it gets +X+2/+0 instead.
Leomon - Animal Vaccine Digimon - 5/3 for CMC 4
Pay 1: It gains Reach until end of Turn
Luffy - Human Devil Fruit Pirate - 4/4 for CMC 3
Bands with other Pirates. Gains +1/+0 for each pirate banded with it, up to +2/+0
Envy - Sin Villain Homunculus - 4/5 for CMC 5
Whenever an opponent casts an instant or sorcery, or draws 1 or more cards, they discard 2 cards.
[seems busted]
Chichi - Human Mother - 1/1 for CMC 1
Tap: Regenerate any blocking Goku or Gohan permanent, combat damage dealt by permanents blocked by said permanents is dealt to this card instead.
Blue Dragon - Dragon - 4/1 for CMC 1
Upkeep 1
Sacrifice Blue Dragon: Search your library for a creature card of CMC 2 or less and put it into your hand, the shuffle your library.
Sasuke Uchiha - too many keywords - 7/3 for 5G
When Sasuke Uchiha is blocked, any combat damage dealt by Sasuke Uchiha that turn is also dealt to up to one other target creature.
Sasuke Uchiha gains +3/+0 while attacking.
Ebylon - Homarid Wizard - 3/4 for CMC 5
Pay 1, tap: Destroy target artifact an opponent controls.
Goku, yeah no, not even gonna try. Only thing is the ability:
Exile 5 cards from your graveyard: Put a +1/+1 counter on this card
Burning Mane - Beast - 2/2 for CMC 2
Goku - Male Saiyan - 5/2 for 5 and a Boros
If Goku would be destroyed by damage, you may pay Boros Boros. If you remove all damage from Goku.
Goku gains +4/+0 while attacking.
I love how 1000 life in YuGiOh translates to 2 life in MTG.
@@aidennoir597 Yeah I went for 8000 starting life vs 20. It got to 2.5 so I rounded down.
Fun fact! Magi-nation was created as a sleeper to get young kids into Magic, so the two systems actually have a lot in common.
Also for a good long while it was way easier to get Duel Masters in my hometown than Magic.
Used to play Magi-Nation back in the day, kinda miss it
>Magi-nation was created as a sleeper to get young kids into Magic
Ehhh... unless you have a source on that, I am going to have to call BS.
My favorite part of this pack opening is Graham seeing a card from a game he does not play and confidently announcing that he thinks the card is bad.
All these cards are basically "Coming Soon to a Universes Beyond Near You"
And now I miss Young Jedi TCG. Absolutely slapped when I was in sixth grade.
7:25 a truly missed opportunity: Printing the special incantations from Amonket in Papyrus to annoy Graham into all eternity
Well THAT was certainky a grab bag of card games. I was almost expecting a card from Yu Yu Hakusho by the second Dragon Ball CCG personality.
They have cards from all but the last two iterations of any Dragon Ball card game. No Panini and no Bandai.
With all the other Score cards, a YYH card would have been nice, you're right there.
The best for me is how many of these games I’ve seen but not played, and how many more I have played that are missing.
The 1 on the duel masters means that if you play it upside down it's a land that taps for 1 green mana.
*looks at Graham, looks down at self* Same shirt!! Desert Bus hype!
I was really holding out for one of them to be from the MLP card game because those cards are INSCRUTABLE without knowing the rules
As someone who still has an MLP:CCG Deck. I can confirm this xD
Doesn't that game have a card type that's just called Problem?
@@StarkMaximum Yep. That's one of the Main Cards needed to help win the Game
Oh man, I had to stop eating, I nearly choked on watching this.
I love seeing other CCGs that I don't know anything about, so this is one of my favorite episodes of Crack a Pack. Do I have a random box full of X-Files, Doomtown, Mythos, Hyborian Gates, Star Wars, Star Trek, etc.? Yes
Magi-Nation Duel Hype! Papyrus is great!
Makes me wanna get in contact with Paul, to sneak in a modified pack full of coreset cards and commander cards in a Ravnica style.
The wrap has a similar style, and says in a small font: "I cannot believe it's not" & a big "Ravnica"
Graham had such big Dad energy this episode.
"now i just wanna equip jar jar bink's electro pole to goku and fight emperor palpatine..."
don't worry it'll come, that's what universes beyond is for!
Imagine slotting this pack in a Vintage cube...
I love how they did go through the trouble of putting a basic at the end lmao
so 2 reasons why i did that:
1. actually have ONE mtg card in there was way funnier than not
and
2. the way i packed it had it at the back of the stack with its back facing the front of the package to hide that it wasnt at all mtg if you looked closely at the front of the pack
Despite this card being a common, I've never actually owned one myself. lol
I loved this one! we need more more more packs from this set
This was actually more interesting than some of the actual Magic Crack-a-Packs. Spicin' it up, I like it.
"Now I just want to equip Jar Jar Binks' Electropole to Goku and fight Emperor Palpatine."
The state of Magic after 5 years of Secret Lairs.
Seeing that card from the Young Jedi TCG game brings back memories. Don't remember how to play the game, but it brought back memories
Darth Sidious vs Goku is somehow still a better plot that the sequel trilogy.
Oh cool, LRR got their advanced preview pack for Universes Beyond early! Can't wait to find out what else is coming in UB!
I hope you do this again. It was so much fun seeing your confusion
And thus Pandora played by Graham opened the box and let pain into the world.
"Why is that 1 upside down?"
"That's called a 7, wait..."
Jar Jar Binks’ Electropole got me. What a card.
Graham says the real magic card is surprising to everyone when we could see the back the whole time lol
The upside down one on the Duel Masters card denotes that it can be played as a mana source instead of as a monster and that it taps for one. I don't remember if mana in DM had colors, but there you go.
That blue dragon actually sounds like it is a very powerful card tbf
"As complete wastes of my time go at least this was entertaining."
Decipher's Star Wars cards were actually pretty fun.
Commander 2011 Forest makes sure that everything is all right...
I am kinda sad I didn't see any Dragon Storm cards tbh. That was such a great RPG.
These videos are very entertaining and Graham is funny, this one was exceptionally hilarious!
The exasperation at the ridiculousness was palpable
That was a hoot, and it's really fascinating to see how CCGs differ from each other. More, please!
I'm sad he didn't take the opportunity to do a bit around trying to decide which card he would draft.
More weird packs like this would be great, This was better than most crack a packs lol.
And I'm suddenly reminded of a Star Treck card game that I played in the 90s. Weird.
Phantom tiger… 7/10. Looking forward to next pack naming.
I now have a wonderful, terrible idea. But I already sent in stuff for Mail Time once and found it how expensive is is to ship to Canada so.... It'll have to wait until I can do it exceptionally well.
Ahh I loved that Dbz game back in the day, I still have folders full of most of the cards. Played for several years and travelled to nationals twice!
Magi nation was also a lot of fun, have a few starter decks around.
For real though: Young Jedi, DBZ, Digimon, and Yu-Gi-Oh were all cards I sued to collect as a kid and this was beautiful
8:57 games of commander after a year of universes beyond
That forest got me rolling on the floor
Reading the card, explains the card...
Except in all these game systems I've never even looked at before 🤣
Young Jedi tcg was legitimately one of the most outlandish, ridiculously confusing card games I ever (sort of) got into...
