Loved the catch and cook man. Keep it up. Great recipe and tasty looking breakfast. And yes, cast iron all the way. I can’t lie, the knotty pine cabin interior reminds me of every cabin up north I’ve stayed in as a kid. Nostalgic to the max. Excellent video, Caleb. 🤙🏼
Yep! The mud-cloud trick works everywhere in the world. Fish are fooled thinking this is a feeding area since the water is cloudy. We’d do this in Hawaii and every fish saw the cloud and came in to investigate. And they were right, because your lure is right there. So fun to watch, Caleb. It’s been decades since I caught a yellow perch anywhere, the last bunch of Jumbo Perch in Wisconsin as a kid. We had a secret spot back then that everyone on the lake knew about. But no outsiders did. Crayfish traps and jumbo perch on the same rock pile in the middle of the lake that went from 25 feet deep to 6 on a steep pinnacle. Fun days and great eating like kings in the north woods. 🤙🏼
I've never targeted perch, haven't caught one since i was about 5 years old but you've convinced me it's a worthwhile endeavor. That breakfast looked outstanding
YUM!! IMO the best tasting freshwater fish!!! Nice vid. Pro tip for the eggs take a glass lid if ya have one pour a little water in the pan with the eggs cover the eggs, this allows you to watch how the eggs cook and no more broke yolks from flipping them!!
I would say for hole hopping and aggressive fish, specially the first few in the school, the McCarthy Slab Grabber ! specifically in the largest size”Simcoe slayer” is the ticket. It darts really wide calls in a lot of fish with that wide cone and flash! Because it’s so large fish always hit the bead in the hook!
Pro tip, if you kick the slush away from the top of your hole when you drill, you don't leave a massive speed bump to freeze up for other riders to hit later.
I've grown to hate ice fishing, but I need me some perch now lol looks amazing! I can't deal with the small ones, I just do too much of a horrible job.
Hello, my grandma is 92. She grew up eating perch out of lake MI. She tried fillet perch and said, "they taste better cooked with the skin and bones." And she is right. Bluegill is the same. We don't fillet perch or bluegills. Bigger fish pike, bass and walleye we do fillet. We fillet pike and cook with the bones in and pick the bones out while eating. We cook all fish in butter. A light coat of flour, salt and pepper. Cool on medium high to crisp the outer parts. Don't burn the butter.
Nice job cleaning them, you can tell you've had a lot of practice over the years. Have you tried Pectoral fins? Both Perch and Walleye leave a "Chicken Wings" worth of meat if you lobb off the area where the Pectoral fins are and fry up nice.
Just started ice fishing this year. Have been watching a lot of your videos and find them very informative. How do you rig up the jig and spoon method? And YES more of these videos
I vote for more videos like this. I enjoyed it. That breakfast looked delicious.👍🏻
Thanks! I’ll see what I can do!
Like this videos too, that fried fish looks amazing. You have some kind of pro kitchen experience?

I’ll see what I can do!

It’s SO good!
Fresh fish and eggs, about the best breakfast I can think of. Delicious and healthier than a lot of other options!

They are one of the top freshwater fish to eat in my book.

Great video 👍 definitely keep them coming! Going to have to try fish for breakfast now 🍽
Fish , eggs and potatoes are the best kept secret for breakfast !

I’ve seen those. They look funky but I’ve heard they do work!

Please do this fellow anglers! I got bucked as a kid on a snowmobile off one..
@TravisinCanada1 pro tip….know your role & shut your mouth and get back to watching the hockey game.
Or don't haul ass on the lake and there's no problem
Yes. I definitely do that if I am near a snowmobile trail or obvious road. Not too worried about it anywhere else though.
I've grown to hate ice fishing, but I need me some perch now lol looks amazing! I can't deal with the small ones, I just do too much of a horrible job.
That perch looked delicious 😋😋🐟🎣
So good!

nothing better than a fresh perch dinner.

And YES more of these videos
Thanks! Glad to hear it. I just do a simple improved clinch knot on the jig and leave a long tag end then tie the spoon on the tag end.
I need to try that fish and egg breakfast.
Great video! Definitely enjoy the catch n cook videos. But egg yolk, fried fish and tartar sauce for breakfast?? Idk....
It's a great combo!
Love this video, could you add links for your drilling equipment, Shanti, and electronics, what part of the country you located?
Love a perch fry👍
Same!
Hell yeah brother!
🙏
Nice job
🙏
Gotta try that breakfast
You won’t regret it!
great channel thanks
Thank you! Glad you enjoy it.
The fish looks great, but I don't know mixing with eggs. So long as you like them, I just never thought of that combination.
It’s so much better than you would think!
We need another chequamgon bay ice fishing video now that there's ice up there
I was just up there yesterday but didn’t quite get enough for a video. I’ll definitely do my best to get one up eventually!
I have been letting the perch on Bago go because I rather eat walleye, but after this video I'll be keeping them
They are better than walleye for sure!
yeah more 😋
👍
At what inches do you keep perch?
About 10”
How do u know what kind of fish they r on the screen
Just by the size, the number and the way they were moving along the bottoms.
Yummmm
🤤
you had a yellow worm in your meat yellow circle near the spine of the meat 20:14
It was all good until you got the tartar sauce 😎
I could drink that stuff straight. Love it! 😂
First! Thanks for the video.
👍 thanks!
More catch and cooks awesome show
