    Excellent images Andy! Your video makes me want to watch “Get Carter” again - it’s been many years since I’ve seen it.

      Thanks for watching Dave. It's strange to think the film was set up here. Most of the landmarks from the film are now long gone. The film was inspired by a gangland murder which took place in a mining village I used to live in!
      The beach made for some interesting images, but I think I prefer Seaham with its seastacks.

    A nice wander along the beach Andy. You spoilt me with the monochrome. 👍🏻. Interesting hearing about the filming round there. Wow a sad end indeed for the dolphin. At first glance I thought Micky whale but I bow to your superior knowledge. I wonder if over fishing has a part to play.
    Great stuff mate enjoyed watching. 👍🏻🚶🏻‍♂️🚶‍♀️

      @WanderingwithWatto Thanks Watto. I would have said it was a Minki whale had I not googled it and found reports on the animals when they were first in the area and also one when this one was first washed up.

    Lovely atmospheric video Andy & a great piece of Get Carter info (one of my favourite films) you certainly are blessed with such a marvellous coastline m8, thought the washed up trees looked stunning 👍

      Thanks Andy, the coastline has certainly improved since it's much deserved clean up. I was quite pleased with photos I got considering it was a first visit.

    Very interesting video Andy. That beach certainly could look foreboding in low light which is no doubt why those directors used it for dramatic effect. Those close up shots of sand and pebbles were terrific in the morning light. Good to see you giving the old FZ80 a whirl. I must get out more often with mine in 2025.

    • @AndrewWaltonPhotography
      @AndrewWaltonPhotography  15 дней назад

      @dennismurray703 Thanks, Dennis, I still like to use the FZ82 when I can. I recently picked up the LT55 telephoto conversion lens for it so I'll be doing another video on that.
      If you ever watch Get Carter, it paints quiet a grim picture of the North East back in the late 60s. The film was inspired by the murder of a local gangster, Angus Sibbet. He was shot in the back of his jaguar in the mining village where I used to live.

    You took full advantage of that wonderful light and got some great images, Andrew. I like the look of that beach but it's a shame there's no escalator. Champion! Keith

    Well I don't need to watch Get Carter now! 😂 I enjoyed these images Andrew - not your typical seascapes. Although ironically, my face was probably the most typical seascape type shot, the one at 9:10. Shame about the dolphin - made an interesting subject though.

    • @AndrewWaltonPhotography
      @AndrewWaltonPhotography  5 дней назад

      It's still a great film, Robert. It does make early 70s Britain look very grim indeed. Worth a watch.
      Thanks for watching Robert.

    When I saw those hoppers I wondered if that was the get carter location, what a brilliant film it was too. I can see where they get the moon surface from mind, there are so many rocks on the beach. Shame about the dolphin on the beach a very sad end indeed. Some good images from the beach and I remember when I retired from full time working 14 years ago, the first thing I bought was a big Lumix or Coolpix (I think) camera, which I still have but hardly every used, as I am just a point and shot snapper, cheers Alan

      A good bridge camera would get you some great shots on the fells, Alan. It would certainly reach the parts the GoPro can't reach.
      My friend loves Get Carter, he even has a white Sunbeam Alpine, it's rusty and we tease him that it was the one that went into the Tyne in the film 😀.
      Thanks for watching, Alan.

    Some great images there Andrew. I too have a FZ82 which TBH I bought and use mainly for video (wildlife) for it's long reach. I mostly use my Canon 70D for photography but I have also taken some very pleasing images with the FZ82. Keep up the good work! 👍👍👍

    • @AndrewWaltonPhotography
      @AndrewWaltonPhotography  14 дней назад +1

      @NaturallyCuriousUK Thanks for watching. I bought my fz82 for video, too, then found that despite the small sensor, you could take some good images with it. It certainly reaches parts my Nikon DSLR cannot! An equivalent lens for the Nikon would be big money. This little camera is a channel favourite, so clearly, there are many people shooting with these budget bridge cameras.

      Thanks for joining the premiere Yasmin. Very sad to see the russo's dolphin on the beach. I do wonder why it hadn't been removed by the authorities, it must be a magnet for dogs on the beach.

    Love a couple of the shots in this mate - the rock that had what looked like an impact crater with tide streaks, the ripples in the sand and the wave crashing made for an awesome little story triptych. The 'recce' shots around the 5 minute mark were all interesting too, that could have passed for a small tarn in the peaks during winter. Interesting stuff about the industrial waste acting to fight erosion too. Good watch, Happy new year :)

    • @AndrewWaltonPhotography
      @AndrewWaltonPhotography  16 дней назад

      @LetsClickPhotography Cheers Dave, it was an interesting wander on a beautiful morning. I did like the detail shots, particularly the solo rock with the streaks you mentioned.
      The seawater lagoon was definitely interesting with the reeds. I wasn't expecting to find it there. Thanks for watching, and happy new year to you and yours!

    Very nice winter low light casting long shadows! Quite a few people down at the beach. The large pieces of driftwood always make good subjects, the reflections in the pools came out nice too. Gosh great history about the coal mining and following clean up. Gosh greta bit of film trivia! (No need to watch that now 😂). It is a very rocky beach. Lovely crests on those waves. A discarded fork for contrast! Shame about the dolphin, we’ve seen a few Minke Whales and seals dead on our walks. 👍

    • @AndrewWaltonPhotography
      @AndrewWaltonPhotography  15 дней назад

      @GENerationXplorers The beach was very popular with fishermen as the tide was on the turn, and the fish would be heading in to feed. A good few folks walking their dogs. I wouldn't fancy having to wash my dog if it had been rolling on the dolphin carcass, though 😀
      Thanks for watching, glad you liked the video and the photos.

    Get Carter was 1971 I believe. I have the Lumix FZ82. I primarily use it on holiday and keep my DSLR's at home. But yes, it is capable of producing very good images and that zoom range 20-1200 is awesome.

      I have a similar issue between my Samsung phone and the FZ82. I usually try to colour correct in post. I'm no video expert, but is there a way to set a custom white balance on the go pro? That might be a place to start if you can set both cameras white balance at the same time.

    You can certainly make the FZ82 sing! Is all the video FZ82 as well or a phone? Presume you're processing the images in post? Still great whatever you're doing. My shots always look so... average on it.

    • @AndrewWaltonPhotography
      @AndrewWaltonPhotography  16 дней назад

      @ikarugamoo The video was shot on my Samsung phone. I do use the fz82 for video when I need the extra range, but for wide shots, the phone does well.
      I do shoot in RAW and post process the images. I do find the standard jpegs a bit flat with a tendency to lose detail in the sky or the shadows.
      Thanks for watching.

      @@AndrewWaltonPhotography Cheers Andrew. It'd be interesting, if you were up for it, to see what you could achieve SOOC vs edited. Maybe show side by side. As someone who's hobby isn't photography, so time is limited, I want to get the best OOC shots possible. I agree the images don't look amazing / limited but with scenes or a few tweaks to exposure in camera, do you reckon you could get closer to RAW edited? I'd love to see that as a video for sure.
