    Thank you for this detailed explanation. I was just diagnosed with a vitreous detachment; it was worrisome to me and I was afraid that it meant I would go blind. The doctor says it should heal up in a few months. Is this your opinion as well? I have had myopia since age 12--or earlier--and I have always had a few floaters since the age of 20. I am now age 52. I also have a growing cataract, and my vision has gone from -400 to -600 in that eye.

    I just got my floaters for christmas 2016. That is when I noticed them for the 1st time in my right eye. I found the floaters very annoying. Most annoying when using a computer monitor, which is what I do about 85% of the time, I have found some ways to make them less noticable and one way that made them temorarily go away. 1st I took the lens in my glass over the effective eye out, so it wasn't magnifying the floaters, I also avoid bright sunny days, the floaters seem to dissapear say while driving at night vs a sunny day, I then played an Xbox video game and the floaters dissapeared, but as soon as I froze the screen they popped back in, so at least while playing video games I get a little vacation from floaters.

    Is it not possible that the liver, gallbladder and even kidneys are failing to regulate acid levels in the blood, that perhaps Gallic acid levels are becoming overproduced, and this imbalance is carried through out the body and effecting hyaluronan in the vitreous humor ?

      Answering my own question here..it had diminished in intensity, BUT my 'good' eye has also had a PVD..and huge mega floaters...{I did go to eye Hospital again}...hipe to goodness that the vast floaters {like a scrunched up polythene bag in water crossed with a dirty cobweb of the 'sheet' type...plus a gazillion dots like tiny cells. {August 3rd as I type this, ..I will come back if there is any change}

    if you have floaters because of eye movement (as the vitreous pulls on the retina when eyeballs move), is it better to learn to look where your head is oriented? like, if you want to look to the left a little, should you turn your head also?Weirdly, I had many new floaters from about 2 years ago, but I changed my diet, eating lots of greens, as well as something called gojiberry, as well as a bilberry, lutien and zeaxanthin suppliment. My floaters seem to have reduced significantly, and I wonder if this is q coincidence or diet.

  • @cg00000

    Just. Getting old is not fair to eyes. I may have a connective tissue disorder, from what I've heard can cause even more scar tissue from any kind of incision. My problem is the testing for EDS is not covered by insurance, so how does my Dr know.🤷

    Thanks alot your episode is very helpful .by the way I have what you called "floater" so that i see some transparent particles. MY question is that is it dangerous??? And is there any treatment?????

    • @cbeyedr
      @cbeyedr  10 лет назад +2

      Tricky question. We all get some ordinary floaters over time. Sudden appearance of new floaters, particularly with the listed risk factors, would be a reason to get a retina check. Treatments include laser and vitrectomy. May have a video about that soon.

    • @cbeyedr
      @cbeyedr  8 лет назад +5

      Sorry, not much you can do here with vitamins. If they are sufficiently bothersome you could consider laser or vitreous removal (vitrectomy).

    I have some cloudiness only in my left eye. Started about 3 weeks ago. The opthalmologist said I had a detached vitreous and it will eventually correct itself (cloudiness will go away). other than to call if I see darkness or light streaks in the corners there's nothing else to do.
    Any thoughts on this...?

      This treatment method is true to its promises and now my eye floaters no longer exist.?
