Damn, now that I realize it, the ending to DOOM: The Dark Ages was leaked and spoiled in DOOM 2016, damn near 9 years ago. Glad to see more content creators talking about this absolute phenomenon.

The Doom Slayer will get ambushed at the end, leading to his seal in that sarcophagus from DOOM 2016.
It wasn't an ambush.
The testament says that the demon priests brought the blood temple down on top of him, which apparently incapacitated him long enough for them to stick him in a sarcophagus.
Evidently, his weakness isn't ambushes or anything combat-related, but arson, lmao.
Jokes aside, I feel the dread. The idea of Doonguy hearing Night Sentinels screaming over his helmet's comms, etc. And it would all fade to black as the temple falls onto him.
Same reason he comes out so angry in the future.

Well, you're not wrong. It'd be awesome if one of the dlc we get is just an endless wave mode meant to represent that nonstop rampage the slayer went on in hell for the few thousand years before the demons trapped him in the cursed sarcophagus.
