So we all know it costs $20,000 to replace the batteries in a tesla car, and the semi uses about 10x the amount of batteries of the tesla car. So that's $200,000 to replace it after a few years? OUCH! Oh yeah, and there's no berth, no area for your clothes, food, a fridge, a microwave, and no living space. So every day you as a driver need to spend about $200 for a hotel room and eating at restaurants. Pretty high price, since most drivers only make about $250-$300 per day. "Just spend 4/5ths of your gross pay on shit you didn't need before this! itz duh futur bro!!!1111"
There are studies about this. Maintenance for electric trucks costs 0.3 dollar per km. It is a lot cheaper than the maintenance costs for diesel trucks. Electric trucks make no sense for long distance transport. But make a lot of sense for short distance transport (a few hundred km). You can also carry more cargo with less battery packs.
@@devalapar7878 it makes since for short distance deliveries but that is not what it is advertised as Elon with all his ego says it beats rail road deliveries which is delusional at best
basically the semi is a stupid idea. for TONS of reasons literally. not to mention fast charging for this doesn't exist. payload is low, price is massive.
@Elton Smith I know Elon's claims are unrealistic. Even if it was true what he said, the same technology would enable us to build more efficient trains and ships. Trucks will be never more efficient.
@@devalapar7878 trucks will never be more efficient? I get 10mpg in my semi on flat ground and 8mpg on a mix of mountains and flat terrain. Only 15 years ago you'd be pressed to get 5mpg.
😇I'm just an electronic engineer and have been involved in many automotive and smartphones projects . It's amazing to see such a denial of advanced technologies. You so called experts are just too involved in their diesel developments to have an objective view of the transport transition we are in. Tesla Semi will be released by 2022, not 2023. This have been announced by PepsiCo CEO earlier this year. So this clip is just a summary of FUD. Make your own research and be objective, otherwise people will laugh at you
