The perl mongers community may have been a bit toxic too, for modern python standards. The thing I did not like is the implicit nature, as described by the speakers. The internal state and how it responds to input in functions is quite horrific. Especially when you accidentally pass in a number where it expects a list or vice versa.
Turing invented Collosus? There's a bloke called Tommy Flowers over here and he wants a fight. Turing's version of the Polish Bombe was used to decrypt Enigma... Flowers' Colossus was used to decrypt the Lorenz Cypher.
