Love the podcast guys. I’m 100% on board with Jake, I’m obsessed with “Match Point.” I especially love the plaintive “oooooohh” at the end with the cool guitar line. Great stuff guys!
@@psimp8871 Thank you so much for the kind words, we really appreciate it! (and glad to hear from another Match Point fan haha, it really is a great song!) -Jake
Thanks once again, I really enjoy listening these! And it immediately made me feel like listening to MIU, it's been a while. My favorites are the obvious ones, but I really love Matchpoint too.
Thank you so much for the kind words! :) I love your channel as well, I was actually just watching your recent Adult/Child video yesterday haha. And yes Match Point is a banger! 🎾 -Jake
I think if you combined the best parts of MIU and Adult/ Child you would have had something better. A balance between the artiness of the best bits of Adult/ Child and the the smooth Yacht Rock and commercial aspects of the best of MIU would have worked well.
I agree! I think I mentioned something in the episode along the lines of them doing a "Today!" like structure, where the upbeat commercial songs take up side A and the ballads and artsy stuff takes up side B. Here's something I came up with after we did the episode: Side A: 1. Life is For the Living 2. She's Got Rhythm 3. Pitter Patter 4. Our Team 5. Baseball's On 6. Come, Go With Me Side B: 7. Match Point of Our Love 8. Sherry, She Needs Me 9. Deep Purple 10. My Diane 11. It's Over Now 12. Still I Dream of It - Reilly
The "Won't Last Forever" line. Maybe Wendy, Carnie, Matt Jardine, Christian Love etc. May get the licensing name and continue on yet. I'm now 64 y.o. Been seeing the band since1973. Over 500 times. Best times of my life. Would do it over again in a 💓 heartbeat.
This album is so cosy to me, lots of fun simple 50s/early 60s style tunes. I dont mind the covers. But hey little tomboy is fucked up lol. Whats worse is that its pretty catchy. Its sadly one of the only albums i have of them on vinyl, so ive probably listened to that album more than anyone should.
The covers really bring MIU down; they’re just really bland in my opinion. Wish they would have included Our Team, it’s definitely a favorite of mine. Also Mike Come Back to LA would have been Ding Dang-level fun. Quichenight does an excellent cover of it.

Our Team is GREAT! Best thing from this period besides My Diane.
"Almost Summer" clip with Brian can be found on RUclips under this title: "Mike Love Brian Wilson Celebration Beach Boys American Bandstand"
Thanks for doing these. I listen to the pod as soon as it comes out. Good luck.

All I want is a cleaned up version of their attempt to record "Mike Come Back to LA." Basically the version in the video that's circulated for ever.

1:15 "fuck you"😂
MIU- Lacked Carl & Dennis input. But Brians singing was improved.
