Nice work Phil and Heather. The Egret is so beautiful in flight. I photographed one the other day and I love watching them fish for their food. Lots of techniques they use. Thanks for sharing the video 👍🙏
I told you both my R7s were soft. Great news my friend. I updated my R7 firmware. I reset the camera to factory. Put back button focus back and use servo and subject tracking off and now I finally get sharp images. Just fantastic. I am not sure what this changed? Great photos. Keep up the fun videos.
You always entice me to your shooting venues. This one is too far away . . . but I'm still very tempted to make the trip. Thanks for another wonderful video!
Great pictures you take with my equipment. You sure have lots of light in Fl. and I still have grey weather here in Denmark. Look forward to your next video. Greetings from Denmark - / Per
Thank you! We made two more wildlife vides on this day in Florida. Florida will spoil you if you like bird photography. Back home in Tennessee can still be pretty good but it's nothing like Florida!
We love Viera Wetlands but have marked that off our list of Florida birding Locations now that you can't drive on it. We like to shoot from the car or very close to the car if possible. We've never been to Circle B Bar reserve! We did try Orlando Wetlands which is a lot of walking also but not as bad as Viera Wetlands. That video comes out next week. Thanks for watching and for the suggestions!
Black Point is only an hour’s drive for me and we enjoy shooting there. Your photos are excellent. The Snowy Egret is mesmerizing to watch as it dances in it’s fishing process. Did you get a chance to photograph an Anhinga in the sunlight, to me these birds are among the most colorful with iridescent feathers? I currently shoot with a D500 & 500mm PF and thoroughly enjoy it but I was wondering in this particular setting did the superior autofocus and eye detection capabilities of your Canon gear help you get better photos than with your older Nikon kit? Thanks for sharing. Heather and you do a great job of entertaining us.
Thank you, Gary! I think the Canon gear did help. I think having a zoom lens also helped us at Black Point. Quite often we were not using the full 500mm of the 100-500 lens.
The light is perfect. You guys are really getting good. Great reflection shots. I noticed most of those shots didn't need the reach of the 500, nice. Great video keep up the good work, thanks
Wow, so many awesome images Phil and Heather!! You could have also called this episode "golden slippers in the golden hour", or "50 shades of white". I'm impressed how you both nailed the exposure to never overexpose these whites which is a true challenge when such a white bird comes in and out of direct sunlight. I'd also guess you didn't use electronic shutter, because otherwise the reflection (like Heather's great shot at 4:57) would have a different wing pose due to the rolling shutter of the R7. Are you using manual ISO, or a negative exposure compensation ??
Thank you, Werner! believe it or not, all of these were made using the electronic shutter. We use auto-ISO and dial in the exposure compensation until we see no blinkies when reviewing the images.
@@PhilThach hmmm impressive this was using the ES .. did you gave these egrets some drugs to flap their wings extremely slowish ?? 😛 I have images of a blue tit washing itself in a pool, and my R5 gave different wing poses in the reflection ! When using auto-ISO, which light metering method do you use ? Last year I started using manual ISO in order to avoid the metering to screw up how I wanted my exposure compensation to work. When birds are moving between shadows and direct sunlight this can all be a serious challenge !
Hi both of you you seem to be drifting away from us seeing you take the images like you use to, and now just showing what you've done. Are you using Srgb or Adobe 1998 in your Canon and Nikon camera's, as Heather colour seems better than your own, Thanks Phil..
Thanks! That's an interesting comment. I'm not sure if we ever showed us taking wildlife pictures, landscape for sure but not so much on wildlife. We usually show the location, the gear, the images and the settings when doing wildlife. As for colour, people used to think it was Heather shooting Nikon and me shooting Canon that accounted for the differences in colour but it's actually Heather's editing style. I'm a little less free with the vibrance and contrast sliders I suppose. I guess I should be more free with those sliders because anytime someone notices a difference they always like Heather's better! :) We shoot SRGB because that works best for RUclips.
Awesome video like always Phil and Heather, I love all the beautiful photos and I can't wait to see the next video 👌👍🤗🐦
Thank you, Miguel! I think you will really enjoy the next two videos! :)
Very nice Phil and Heather; I agree, the Snowy Egret is one of my favorites along with the Little Blue Heron.
Thank you! We love little blue Heron too!
Beautiful photos Phil and Heather! 👏Looks like an amazing area for birding.
Thank you, Bill!
Although it was mainly Snowy Egrets you had some brilliant poses. Looking forward to the next one.
Thank you! Part 2 comes out Saturday! :)

Thank you, Adrian! I love bird photography in Florida!

Awesome! I'm glad you got it working properly!
Wow!
Thank you, David!
Nice video Phil. Great pictures from You and Heather. And thanks for the link of your RF100-500 revieuw. It helped me a lot.
Thank you! I’m glad you liked it!
You and Heather do such a great job on these bird pics! Beautiful work! Thanks for taking us along.
Thank you and thanks for watching!
Great place to visit. I was there just this Sunday for birding. Absolutely wonderful place. You got some great shots! 👍
Thank you! We can’t wait to go back next year.
Great work!
Thank you!

Thank you! I always try to work in some bird photography when we are in Florida for Disney World. Stay tuned for more!

Great images, you guys sure have me thinking R7
Thank you, Steve! We think you will enjoy it!
I've seen plenty of snowy egrets but have yet to get a good one while a fish was tossed in the air, so kudos to you both!
Thank you!
Great pictures Phil. Kudos to Heather. Kudos? I hope my translator knows what he's translating
Thank you! I think your translator is doing a good job.
Also check out the viera wetlands north of Melbourne. And the circle B bar reserve. Just keep an eye out for the gators.

Looked like an awesome day to be shooting. The light couldn't have been better. Did you have any issues not blowing out the Snowy Egrets?
Thank you, Stephen! We set our exposure compensation to around -1 stop or more until we see no blinkies in our images.

Great captures. Headed there in a month! Looks like the 100-400 vs the 800 f11 is better?
Thank you! I would take both but I bet you use the 100-400 more.
Nice video
Thank you!
目前来说,佳能eos r7我最期待只有一个广角镜头,让我拍视频。要求不高,11-22就可以了
Heather is a great photographer. She should do a video on post processing!
She's great at everything. There's almost nothing she can't do! :)
