Hello Brandon, I have a few questions if you could help me. What are the building requirements, I know each state is different but what are the typical building requirements? Also, could we build a bardomonium style assisted living facility? There would be differences in that a bardomomium is heated by a boiler rather than the traditional natural gas or propane. After we have a blueprint of the building, can we show it to the state and get pre-approval before the building starts?

These are great questions @chuexiong3862, I'll do my best to answer them for you:
      - You're right that the building requirements will vary on several different factors. One is the zoning rules of the local municipality. Getting a city planner is the best place for you to start with that. You'd want to ask a question like "I'm interested in starting an residential assisted living facility in [city], what are some of the zoning requirements for that?" The other thing it would be dependent on is how many residents you would have the type of license you're looking to get. If you're doing more of a care home (2-6 residents) your zoning and licensing requirements will be less than if you are doing a residential facility (6-16 residents). Typically, what I see is in a single room you need at least 100 sq ft and for a shared room it would be about 160 sq ft (or 80 sq ft per resident in the room).
      - One big thing you'd want to be aware of is the need for a fire suppression system. It's costly, but will be required. If you're building something though you could plan for it and have it be integrated in the building of the house (it would probably cost less this way too).
      - I don't think you'd have any issues doing a bardomonium style house. I think that's a COOL idea!! You'd want to talk to the local municipality about it to make sure you could do it, but I don't think the state would have an issue giving you a license to operate in that style of house (though it's probably worth a conversation with them too). I also don't think the style of gas and heating would be a problem. But yes, once you have a blueprint, you could show it to the state and municipality to have a conversation to make sure you are able to operate the facility like you are hoping.
I hope that helps! Good luck!
