Hydrostatic Pressure Head Analyzer (HPA-50) determines the waterproofing properties of the fabrics such as canvas, manta, wetsuits, rain-proof garments, ducks, tarpaulins, tenting, waterproof materials, and other materials which are used for impermeable application (chemical protective clothing or medical protective clothing) by the hydrostatic pressure method.
The hydrostatic head test is primarily intended for closely woven water repellent fabrics. Hydrostatic head (HH) is the measurement used to calculate how much water pressure a waterproof material can take (hold) before it leaks.
A fabric specimen is mounted to form the cover on the test head reservoir. This specimen is subjected to a standardized water pressure increase at a constant rate until leakage appears on the outer surface of the fabric. The test results for the hydrostatic water pressure test are measured at the point where the third water drop (leak) appears on the specimen. Water press in the third place where the water passes is recorded. The unit is displayed in cmH2O and refers to the volume of water that can be held in a column before it breaks the seal (coating). HPA-50 complies with AATCC 127 Hydrostatic Pressure Test and AAMI PB70 Level 3 Pass.
