It has been amazing seeing the game progress in real time, from the initial browser wireframe to now. And what you said about changes invisible to most players is very true. Even on that version, every time we reported a bug it would be patched next week, all three of you worked super hard for this game and it really shows. Good luck on the Kickstarter, hoping to get an exact date soon (unless you're planning on a surprise drop)
Congratulations on a year of development! Your game continues to look more and more amazing, and these devlogs are a massive source of inspiration for me. Good job to everyone on the team.
To add to the goal setting advice, whenever I hit a milestone, I reward myself. It’s never something outlandish, but always an item or event to memorialise the achievement.
loved to follow your Devlov thus far and I am getting the game for sure if its out. Hope you still have fun developing after 1(3) years because that is kinda a long time. Much love and Good Luck ❤❤
Well done team, it’s so great to see the progress you’ve made this year, and very inspiring for our own progress! We have definitely shared that experience of finding mini milestones and external deadlines to be a really helpful tool
I just binged all your devlogs. They tell a truly inspiring story of a team of 3 working on a dream game! Thank you for sharing and keep it up! Can't wait for tethergeist to come out.
Thank you so much for sharing your journey on youtube, i've enjoyed watching from the beginning. Tethergeist has been very inspirational for me and you guys have taught me not to give up on game dev just yet. I cant wait to see how you grow from here!
congratulations! you just gained a new subscriber mate, I honestly loved this video. I am tired of game developers complaining about how hard it is to create games, and how everything is going horrible, so for me it is extremely beautiful and encouraging to see people like you who still after all the hard stuff that happened remain positive and keep going. I woul love to see your game published in steam one of these days, and hope you the best!
Such a great video. And the game looks stunning! Genuinely, I was blown away with how good the footage you've shown looked. I've been watching these devlogs since the second one (or something like that), and seeing the progress has been monumentally inspiring. Just seeing how the game transformed from wireframes and placeholders to something that made me pause the video to appreciate its beauty, as well as playing the first playtest and now seeing how much more polished and refined the demo is (I'll admit, I haven't played the demo yet, but I've played a recent playtest and THAT was much more polished/refined/fun than the initial one), it's all been amazing. All this progress gets me excited for my own projects. So thank you, for making these videos and I cannot wait for the game itself, because it looks great!
Always a great day when O. and Co. Games appears on the feed! Huge congrats to you and the team on the 1-year milestone. Truth be told, what you 3 have accomplished in only a year is nothing short of mind boggling, and for that, I bow to you! 🙇♂🙇♂🙇♂🙇♂ Wishing you 3 nothing but continued success!
Really cool devlog! It's so neat to see the progress that has been made over a year! I got the chance to play your game at Pax West and it was so much fun, wishing you luck on the Kickstarter!
Wow, you've done so much I didn't realise it was only 1 year. I thought I'd been watching your devlogs for years. Good luck with the kickstarter and getting the game done!
I remember watching your first video and sending your game to our publisher team and telling them this will be a huge hit someday :D I don't think we ever reached out because you guys seem to want to do the Solo release but I'm addicted to your progress and want you & team to make it!!!! Platformers are brutal to sell but I believe in this game. Thank you for sharing your journey, it's not mentioned a lot but even as a publisher seeing these good games motivates me to keep searching and supporting small teams making their dream game come to life. It's not just other developers :D
We're so honored by your enthusiasm! We had a Null rep stop by our booth at PAX, was that you? Either way, thank you for sharing our game with your publisher and for posting such an encouraging comment!
my goal is for people to just see my game. If I can have at least more then 100 plays ill be happy. But its hard getting an audience, my devlogs get barley 20 views 😭 that's why I have to keep trying and improving as I go. Thank you for the inspiration
damn , so much progress , I have to say you have a really good artist , making all that isn't easy , overall you have made way more progress than I have , congrats 🙃...
congrats! i've been a subscriber since the 1st devlog! I know it's kinda late too ask this but may i ask what software do you guys use for creating pixel arts? both for the backgrounds and the character sprites? thanks!
wow, very different. Yep, pivoting is important in life in general. Yea, believe it or not, the title screen and save file screen being interactive can subconsciously make a difference in the enjoyment of the game. A lot of people won't even notice those little details, but your brain sure will. Yep, always give yourself double the amount of time you think it will take to make something. So you want it to be done by next year, well it's probably gonna be 2. Yep, crunch is inevitable Not only hold yourself accountable, but also celebrate those achievements when you hit them. Don't just slightly pat yourself on the back when you do something good, treat yourself and give acknowledgement to those achievements. I know what you mean when you say "I am inevitable". I've also had that experience. It's pretty crazy. Anyways, seems like you're doing well. Good.
Thank you!! We're confident we'll be finished with TetherGeist no later than 2025 in any event--but you know what they say--shoot for the stars, land on the moon. 🌙
I just noticed that the axolotl guy (I forgot his name) has a new color, I much prefer it that way. Wouldn’t you mind telling us a bit more about him? That is if it doesn’t spoil that much if the story
[SOME SPOILERS AHEAD. PLAY THE DEMO FIRST] Hey! Just played ur game... for like 2 hours. Didn't complete is sadly there is a bug with the mushroom arena where I crash from anything after a certain point. Stil... I'm giving this fucking celeste/10. And I know getting called a game copycat aint the best argument but I don't literally mean: I want copies of celeste so ur game good. NO. Ur game good because u managed to achieve the same thing they did. Make the grind feel good. I have about 130 deaths on second area and 89 on first. So just... I failed a lot. I also scratched my head on puzzles a lot. I kinda... have like no criticism on ur game. Somehow both aspects of it, dialogue and platforming (which are the ones i most love in games) U have done perfectly. Important character have sprites, they're likable, interesting even. Again I can't complete the demo but you bet I'm doing all that again when it actually releases. Imma buy that shit. I love the tether mechanic. It felt a bit unnatural at start but when actual challenges came my way, chaining tethers slowing down time, choosing the right place to disconnect yourself so u don't die quick enough to teleport yourself... masterpiece. Frickin love it. And mushroom kingdom made it feel even better. There is literally no speed cap. I found myself being able to do like a 4 jellyfish puzzle with 1 jelly and snaps. U know how u made the character do a lil jump when she doesnt have the gold energy to tether. Yeah um, that stacks momentum. So jellyfish combined with that is literal celeste wavedash except who cares for the floor or even aiming LMAO Ok I actually have one criticism. Jellyfish. Please on dear god heaven and the holy spirit, add the possibility to aim in them. Ik the difficulty of them is to choose the time to press X at the right time so the angle is right and all, and don't get me wrong when u finally get down the perfect angle it feels fucking phenomenal.... but in the continuous aspect of it i think it will rather draw players away. So some aspect of aiming even if a lil scuffed as the thether is would be really great One HELLA BIG praise i have got to give u. The city. Oh my god the city. Change nothing ever ever ever about it. The style is beautiful, the characters are funny silly shapes saying silly things. But most important i love the parkour in it. I found only one hidden cave there idk if there are more but i had great fun doing math with gold charges to how to preserve them so i could pass 2 ice barriers. And i also kinda love how confusing the platforming in the city is... like that's weird I should want it to be simple and understandable but no. I fucking love it. Especially the aspect if ur on the wrong roof? just slide off it's not like the building the roof is actually on has a hitbox. I fricking love that I have 12 funny flowers (sorry they have a long name I don't remember) And you bet i took my sweet time (and dogshit gaming skill) to get them. Really loved going into each room once again from the previous to just have a lookie at the spikes or possible holes in the ceiling that could lead to some challenge Now the story... really gets me. Its kinda cliche and I don't relate at all but at the same time. I root for the character. When the cutscene with the read pain surrounding us happened, i started mashing the fuck out of A. And when it happened again i did the same and felt sad knowing this time i couldn't have saved her as she fell. The neglect she gets from the elders makes me feel really confused cuz like after all, they aren't the bad people here. Tbh no one is. They just wanna protect her and not in some bullshit abusive way, no, truly protect her. And the character is well a teenager that doesn't agree with their point. And she has a supportive mom! I love that segment when the mom flies in and basically just says, farewell and don't forget to change ur underwear loll. The stealth segment at the night is really lovely and i kinda dig the fact there is no explanation for the stealth mechanic. Just figure it out: well it's really simple so it makes sense but I'm just kinda tired of boxes saying how stuff works. I like finding mechanics myself For the last praise. The tether itself. First of the mechanic feels great to use. And I'm kinda repeating myself but u really just feel cool and energized when spikes will kill u in 1.5 seconds and u need to twist ur funny ghost around a wall or spikes or manage to go thru an ice wall really fast. I also love how u incorporated it as like an actual part of the culture. Like this is a tribe and the adults can just do this. And ur a kid so u can't do it the best, but u try ur best. Man i just really love ur demo. And I will have a big dilemma playing either urs game or Big Catch but I will definitely give you my money and time. Great work man
The devlogs are so inspiriting to watch, I have loved watching them for the past year ! Best of luck for the future of the game, can't wait to see what you guys will do ✨

Thank you! It honestly still really is fun. Just a different kind of fun. Less about the initial excitement and more about dedication and fulfillment.
Congratulations on such a great improvement. I've been following your devlogs for a long time. It's really great to see how the game is evolving.
Super inspiring seeing this since the first few dev logs. Love the progress and I'm so excited to play, whenever that may be!
It's so cool to see this go from a jam game to a full thing

Thanks! Still a work in progress 😅

You are just awesome 👍
lol seems like the right approach I guess 😅
Super cool
No, you’re super cool.

The playtest was so much fun cant wait to play the full game! Any ideas for a release date yet?
Sometime between Mar-Jun 2025!
Cool!
congrats! i've been a subscriber since the 1st devlog! I know it's kinda late too ask this but may i ask what software do you guys use for creating pixel arts? both for the backgrounds and the character sprites? thanks!
That’s awesome! We use Aseprite for most of the artwork, some Photoshop as well for color corrections and other more involved aspects.
I dont want to play this game, I need it, it looks amazing
Huge praise thank you!
it would be nice if you add Momentum staking like using a spinning device that launches you or somthing like that
Yeah that’d be cool 😅

The game looks sooooo pretty but I’m not a fan of these types of games sadly but if I was I’d definitely buy it whenever it comes out or whatever.
lol fair enough! Precision platformers aren’t for everyone 😅

Seems to be based on what type of nectar/mushroom/whatever is currently equipped!
Yup, he changes color based on the active nectar type. Storywise, his species are spiritual companions to the people of Mae’s hometown.
what gannt chart software do you use?

congrats to 11K already! Your kickstarter might beat your youtube channel XD (Dollars to subscribers)
