Whenever the Saw theme drops, after an hour and a half of mayhem, usually proceeded by a plot twist. Just does something to me. The soundtrack is just gold.
The theme was one of my favorites before I ever watched Saw or knew what it was about for many years and when I watched it for the first time it lived up to my impression about the theme.
Does anyone remember the shock at the end of Saw 1 when the "dead body" stood up? Thats whats missing with the sequels, you need to shock the audience.

After seeing Saw X on Friday, I can say you almost completely nailed exactly what the main emotional plot of the film was. Amazing little analysis of Tobin's effect on the series and great predictions.
Tobin Bell is most definitely the secret sauce to saw films. SAW is John Kramers story, start to finish, and he is so human and relatable that people can relate to his character. The games are just for show, but John is the depth.
You can relate to a delusional psychopath who invented a twisted ideology that he doesn’t even accurately execute and often completely contradicts? Lmao
I honestly think they didn't mean to make as many Saw movies as they made which is why Kramer got killed in 3, but due to the success and interest in the movies they had to continue making them. Also I hope dr. Gordon is in X and his story gets expanded.
Leigh and James never intended or wanted more movies, but never expected the first Saw movie to make as much as it did. I believe after Saw 3 James and Leigh both left the franchise but are still credited as producers. I think because Lionsgate know how much money the franchise would make, they continued to push them out. I’m not complaining.
I just want them to pick up from the end of Saw 7 and follow Dr. Gordon's turn to keep the Jigsaw name alive. Cary Elwes would definitely be able to hold a similar evil genius role like Tobin Bell's John Kramer did. After all, his appearances in Saw 7 were the best parts of that movie!
I'm pumped for Saw X, but eventually they'll have to settle on an apprentice or copycat that understands John's philosophy if they want to make sequels. It's too bad Amanda got killed off so soon.
@@StJimmy89 I'll never forget all the theories about him on the internet and then they finally revealed that it was the case, he definitely needs to be the new main Jigsaw, and it makes the most sense and has the most familiarity

Tobin deserves the world honestly. Going from laying on a floor for 3 days to spending a majority of his screentime in flashbacks. I’m excited to see the “in his prime” version of Jigsaw, especially with how he lets the players see his face, he’s intending to have a rather roman holiday methinks.

I love this franchise, I'm beyond happy we'll get more John Kramer after the last 2 had so little of him. Tobin Bell was really missing in Spiral . Absolutely amazing actor
The problem is they killed the goose that lays the golden eggs. Unlike Jason or Freddy that can come back as they are supernatural, John Kramer is grounded in reality, so the studios have to go back on the timeline and retroactively mine new material to keep a dead character alive. Going forward as they did in Spiral didn't work.
The best SAW movie (the first one) has some of the least Tobin Bell funnily enough. It does, however, have the foreboding presence of Jigsaw looming over the entire film which amplifies his impact when he is on screen. I think the later films not written by Whannell lost a lot of that presence despite having a lot more Tobin lines/screentime. SAW VI brought it back somewhat with the deeply personal game with John directly speaking to William both in flashbacks and through tapes left for after his death but even VI didn't manage to give that looming threat to Hoffman despite some great scenes (right now you are feeling helpless). I do love me some Hoffmanator though and appreciate that he was so different from John. I think Jigsaw and Spiral both had some of that looming killer presence that a lot of the other films were missing and that makes me very excited for SAW X because even though a lot of other fans don't like the new writers I think they've been very close to making something truly great but have been held back by studio interference. I think spiral was an ok movie. It felt different because the story wasn’t connected to John Kramers story so it won’t have any of the characters from the main storyline. Instead, we got a villain who was probably just inspired by Johns work. I liked the different approach honestly.

Overall i enjoyed Spiral (mostly the second half) but it felt nothing like a saw film, it was too Hollywood feeling. And as much as i enjoyed hearing “You wanna play a game, motherfucker?”, it was weird seeing Samuel Jackson in Saw
Im not sure how well going back to saw will work, but the one thing I'm sure you're right about is John Kramer being one of the great horror villains of all time, from the acting and the characters philosophies, the character is so believable and when maybe the traps aren't so believable, his character still sells it and it works. Let's hope they nail the story for Saw X. Great video!

Tobin Bell is a legend. Nothing can ever replace him. Also I MISSED AMANDA SO MUCH IM SO GLAD SHES BACK! I always thought for years she would return and had survived her shot to the neck, but no she’s really dead 🙁
Saw is the one movie that absolutely traumatized me when I was a kid. I couldnt sleep for months. I had to sleep in my parents room. I had to real sense of fear like deep in my soul I was scared everywhere I went. Now I watch these movies and much worse without batting an eye. hahah
I do find it odd to call this Saw 10. I don't really count Jigsaw and Spiral as "Saw movies" I mean Jigsaw is but due to the title change it seems like it counts more as a new chapter in the Saw franchise. And then Spiral just seems like a movie set in a world where all the Saw movies have happend. A spin off if you will. But turns out they count as Saw 8 and 9?
I've only watched a couple of these movies but watched Jigsaw recently and was rather surprised by how good it actually was. To your point it had quite a bit of Tobin Bell. Kind of stokes me up for Sax X. Good horror movies are hard to come by these days unfortunately.
i actually asked for this after the 4th film i think. i wish we wouldve had a flashback build up to why he became the jigsaw killer. this is going to be the best film of the franchise in my eyes. i want to know the back story to this character and why he became the person he did. i havent watched the last 4 films as i got bored but this one i will watch
Yes! Tobin Bell aka John Cramer is a Must for more camera time....hands down in keeping the authenticity of the franchise! It's resurrection time! Clone em if you have too! Amanda is essential to the film as well. *NewFace Magazine LV Team Las Vegas!
Saw 2's rendition of Jigsaw was my favourite. He's completely eaten away by his disease, his hair's all whacky and yet that all just makes his evil smile all the more menacing.
Tobin Bell is the man. And he doesn't get enough credit and I can't wait for Saw X. It's definitely going to be great. I love all of the Saw movie's and The Scream movie's are my favorites for newer horror films. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a new A Nightmare On Elm Street movie but it's not looking good at the moment and the Friday The 13th prequel series coming out and the new Friday The 13th movie is coming too so we get Jason and the Voorhees family back. I just hope that the series is going to be good. Thank you for posting this and have a great day.
I love Tobin Bell. He's got such a *presense* on screen, and it's proven by me always remembering his tiny role in Stargate SG-1.. makes me chuckle. What a crossover that would be. 😂 This is what I think is the studios problem - I always watched (and rewatched multiple, MULTIPLE times) those movies for the *STORY* - what an unbelievable concept that is for corporate brains and their management. "Those sickos must be in it for the torture porn, letz make moar!!" Insert Spiral. Which sucks as a *SAW* movie. Because the story is just NOT. THERE. And neither is John. Therefore, it sucks.
To add to what this video says, one of the things I think that made part 1 so interesting is it's grittiness so to speak. To me at least, the first saw didn't have quite the 'hollywoody' feeling to it that the subsequent films did. I didn't care to much for part 2, part three was really good but after that it almost just started feeling like a parody of itself or a soap opera with more blood because of some of their actor choices.
I was really hoping they would give us more on jigsaw and hos relationship with Dr. Gordon. Maybe show us more of his followers. I think spiral and jigsaw fell short because they didnt follow some of the recipes for the best saw movies. Not to mention chris rock.. i love that dude, but he dose not pull off the seriousness a saw movie needs. And the new jigsaw voice was hella wack.
Oh yes, Saw III is my favorite Saw film as well (by far)! The most memorable, powerful, emotional, multi-layered and profound entry in the franchise. Not only is it a great Horror movie, but also a great Tragedy. The devastation and catharsis felt at the end are shattering. For the reasons you described, I'm also hyped for Saw X. Thank you for this video (great ending shot ;))!
Tobin Bell is similar to Robert Englund. Both were talented, relatively unknown character actors, and were given a small horror film as a mastermind which has spawned a lucrative, beloved horror dynasty to where the actor has become ubiquitous to the character. The saga will not work without the actor that gave them life.
It's a good comparison, though, I'd say Tobin Bell is even more important to his respective franchise, in terms of how much creative input he's had in the development and treatment of his character. Englund was the Rock star of horror, but Freddy had to do some pretty embarrassing stuff by the later Elm Street films. Whereas, Tobin Bell has always made sure his character is treated with dignity and respect, and has always rewritten his characters dialogue and fought to have Kramer stay true to his vision of that character.
@@MorbidMoonlight I see what you're saying, and you're right. Though take into consideration that the Elm Street films kicked off in the '80s to be devoured by the teenage MTV demographic. They were cheesy. They were fun. Creators had an entire _supernatural_ element to use as their playground. Post 2000, audiences had become far more sophisticated when it came to entertainment. The _Saw_ franchise was grounded in reality, and played on the audience by not only challenging them to think, but also asking whether John Kramer is wrong in his philosophies even though his methods were were rather vile. The Elm Street films and the Saw films are two totally different beasts, though what they share in common is the dependence of the two actors which made these characters exclusively their own.
@@joewas2225 And Robert Englund was on the TV show, V. On name recognition alone, both were unidentifiable and internationally, both were relatively unknown.
At first I didn't want to watch any of the Saw films,I watched a portion of part 3 one time and just couldn't bare to see anymore of it but years later I now have watched every single one of them from beginning to end including Spiral of which I really didn't care much for. Hopefully Saw X will be great, more gruesome and mindf**king.
People being surprised theres now a 10th mainline install; If you watch a special commentary for 5 during the scene where Strahm is put through the water cube the director pretty much states way back then they already had the plans finished for up till this point.

I agree with what you said about Tobin. I just wish they could make a good saw film without having to bring him back every time. There are other big problems with the recent films that I think matter more than the casting.
Even though the first Hostel movie does have the main character fight his way out and survive, it just doesn't follow as strong rules as Saw does. In Saw you have to fight for your life, you have to choose and you have to think. Actually my biggest critique of Saw is that sometimes this is forgotten or the difference between "traps" and "tests" makes it too haphazard who gets to live and who doesn't. More people should beat there traps in my opinion and more people should be rewarded for harsh choices they make. Some of the "unbeatable" traps were also fine because we knew exactly that it was unfair and the game maker got punished for it which was good and doubled down on the philosophy.
I want to see traps we haven’t yet witnessed, but also a couple plans for ones we did so that we can contrast them and see how the corruption of his apprentices altered them.
Im so excited for this movie. Ive always wanted them to make this. Tobin Bell was always the heart and soul of the franchise. Everything u said was spot on. They've added so many characters at this point and Jigsaw accomplices that helped over the years that it left so many questions and story to be explored. There are so many events that happened even before Saw 1 that we have questions about. They could easily make another few movies that explore the timeline before Saw 1 through Saw 3. Thats always where the heart of the story was.

dude we nearly have 20 years of saw....and i was in cinema for the very first movie in that series, i cannot believe how fast time has run out.....game over!
Saw is definitely one of my favourite franchises I’m pleased he’s coming back as jicksaw 1 2 and 3 are my favourites
Now I watch these movies and much worse without batting an eye. hahah
Same hahaha. I used to be traumatized by watching horror movies but now I'm addicted.
So perfectly said and delivered. 👌
I've only watched a couple of these movies but watched Jigsaw recently and was rather surprised by how good it actually was. To your point it had quite a bit of Tobin Bell. Kind of stokes me up for Sax X. Good horror movies are hard to come by these days unfortunately.
Jigsaw made now sense at all. It took place before the first saw movie and had flatscreen tv
@@derfuhrer3345 lol XD
What you talking about
@@derfuhrer3345Very true, I still do love it but they butchered the timeline so hard with that movie 😂😂
We're excited too !! 😁🥰
I don't think anybody other than Tobin Bell could play John Kramer aka Jigsaw, amazing I'm so looking forward to the next installment of Saw series
i actually asked for this after the 4th film i think. i wish we wouldve had a flashback build up to why he became the jigsaw killer. this is going to be the best film of the franchise in my eyes. i want to know the back story to this character and why he became the person he did. i havent watched the last 4 films as i got bored but this one i will watch
Jigsaw's origin and why he became the way he is was shown in Saw 4...All the flashbacks in that film were basicly telling an origin story.
@@MetallicMadness85yeah but he had like 5 reasons / backstories, this is a chance to connect them or give him a new concrete one
I think they already told why he became jigsaw
They've already mentioned why he became Jigsaw in Saw 2.
Yes! Tobin Bell aka John Cramer is a Must for more camera time....hands down in keeping the authenticity of the franchise! It's resurrection time! Clone em if you have too! Amanda is essential to the film as well. *NewFace Magazine LV Team Las Vegas!
I really, really hope Saw X gives us justice. Kramer is such a great character. Tobin Bell and Shawnee Smith made the movies imo.
I completely agree with everything you said🎉
The key of the importance of John Kramer dates back to that legendary short that started the franchise. "He helped me...".
Why I'm excited - Tobin Bell and Shawnee Smith
Why I'm hesitant - the writers of Spiral and Jigsaw...
Perfectly said. Tobin Bell makes the films great.
Also Amamda Young is no longer Young 😂
Saw 2's rendition of Jigsaw was my favourite. He's completely eaten away by his disease, his hair's all whacky and yet that all just makes his evil smile all the more menacing.
I hope the box office never kills saw, that people pay to watch this in theaters.
I will definitely watch it in theater ❤
Imagine seeing tobin himself and getting lowkey scared that he's gonna put you through these traps.
Ok you have convinced me, I'll watch it
Tobin Bell is the man.
I reckon Saw X will open up with Jigsaw saying "Game Over" then closing the door on Adam. I'm calling it
Didnt know there was a new one coming. I enjoy every saw movie
That's what I like about Saw is that it's consistent.
I love Tobin Bell. He's got such a *presense* on screen, and it's proven by me always remembering his tiny role in Stargate SG-1.. makes me chuckle. What a crossover that would be. 😂
This is what I think is the studios problem - I always watched (and rewatched multiple, MULTIPLE times) those movies for the *STORY* - what an unbelievable concept that is for corporate brains and their management.
"Those sickos must be in it for the torture porn, letz make moar!!" Insert Spiral. Which sucks as a *SAW* movie. Because the story is just NOT. THERE. And neither is John. Therefore, it sucks.
The return of Tobin Bell is amazing, but i really wish to see the return of Costas Mandylor aswell
Great video man. Saw 3 is my favorite too. We relate on a lot. You’ve got me pumped. And it drops on my 26th birthday so LFG
Completely Agree. Nothing else need be said.
THE RETURN OF JIGSAW!! HYPED!
Also, John Kramer and Anakin Skywalker are probably the 2 greatest characters ever written!
You don't know me but I know you! Best and scariest line in entire franchise,,,love you Tobin you legend
Tobin Bell is the reason I watch saw. I’m not a horror fan at all but I like saw because I agree with John’s methods and I love Tobin’s acting.
i agree everything you said 100%
plus yeah saw III is the best
You cannot make a great saw movie without tobin bell
Tobin Bell was not relatively unknown. He's been in a lot of big things. One of my favorites is 24. He was in Season 2.
@@joewas2225 And Robert Englund was on the TV show, V. On name recognition alone, both were unidentifiable and internationally, both were relatively unknown.
While I was not a fan of "jigsaw" I'd still like to see that guy here top. Showing him being Jon's apprentice
Fantastic video
Yeah, I'm super excited for Saw X! My sister and I can't wait to see it in theaters when it comes out.
Love these films
Tobin Bell literally donated Blood to be put into the red ink of one of the Saw posters to get the right shade of red. 👑
I love how you use the below zero OST as bgm :D
At first I didn't want to watch any of the Saw films,I watched a portion of part 3 one time and just couldn't bare to see anymore of it but years later I now have watched every single one of them from beginning to end including Spiral of which I really didn't care much for.
Hopefully Saw X will be great, more gruesome and mindf**king.
Dude has a major hardon for Tobin Bell.
Can't wait for the new Saw film though. I hope it lives up to it's expectation. I'm going to watch 3 tonight.
Very excited to see this one
John and Amanda being back is enough for me to actually go watch this tbh.
People being surprised theres now a 10th mainline install; If you watch a special commentary for 5 during the scene where Strahm is put through the water cube the director pretty much states way back then they already had the plans finished for up till this point.
Tobin bell is the best part of this franchise. So glad he’s back
Can't wait to see a midquel with actors almost 20 years older than the timeline characters.
Makes no sense at all
@@neoluthuli3254 They wont be looking old. Have you not seen the movies made in the last 3 years? The post camera work makes 70 year olds look 40. Example is a Guardians of the Galaxy , i think movie #2 of the father character. And a few other movies making the old aged original actor , rejuvinated as well.
They will de age them, happens all the time now
I agree with what you said about Tobin.
I hope Hoffman and Gordon are in it
they're not returning. amanda is returning
I am Hoffmanned out.
That guy is exhausting!!!!!
@@Artur-Itasright now you're feeling helpless
3:50 "what is spiral missing?" we'll the green or blue filter for starters. That not bother anyone else?
i didn't know darren lynn bowsman directed spiral...that guy's a real good piece of a the puzzle i had to say that.
To be honest, Hoffman is just as important to me as Kramer.
Thats always where the heart of the story was.
i really like spiral, and really liked 4 5 6 movies when kramer was dead. i agree that jigsaw is the heart. pretty excited for this new one. great vid.
We're all entitled to an opinion..and I just thought it missed three key ingredients..good writing, good casting, and Tobin Bell
@@dazzaboy04the cast in Spiral is really strong, what are you on about
Adam is alive watch!
Amanda killed him we saw it
Already know Tobin Bell is gonna knock it out of the park
John Kramer is my favorite horror villain of all time. Freddy Krueger is also great-Robert Englund is amazing but Tobin Bell is just outstanding. What is the meaning of life? Watch Saw movies and learn from John Kramers thinking-try to understand and you will learn-A LOT
