    "You fought well, Atreides."
    I loved that Feyd had a sense of honor about him both when he killed, and was killed.

      Nah. He only says this because he enjoys fighting and appretiates the excitement the person gave him once it's finished. All other instances he totally disrespects any opponent. Even Paul by calling Shani his pet.

      Part of me died laughing when the movie essentially turned the pain box into pain play for Feyd rautha, I mean she had sex with him, after putting him through a level of pain that may have been similar to Paul's, for context in the books Paul's experience with the pain box culminates in a pain so terrible that Paul believes he will pull a charred stump from the box, and Feyd rautha became horny enough from THAT , that he would then go on to put a baby into lady fenring, in short this movie made Feyd rautha NUCLEAR levels of kinky in ways that were only implied in the book, I'm not even sure if they tested him with the box in the book,, let alone whether or not she had sex with him immediately after administering the test, in short again, DAMN

    He is not a Sociopath he is a psychopath.
    Sociopaths generally struggle to maintain a job or a family life, whereas psychopaths may/usually are be able to do so.
    Sociopaths have a conscience, albeit a weak one, and will often justify something they know to be wrong. By contrast, psychopaths will believe that their actions are justified and feel no remorse for any harm done.
    I find a lot of people get this terminology wrong. Even the movie did.

    • @user-crxfmuf
      @user-crxfmuf 9 месяцев назад +1

      He was a sociopath. He did have some sense of right and wrong and the movie even said he is honorable. He decides to turn off his protection when he realizes the one slave is not drugged. He compliments Paul even when he lost the fight. He doesn’t even have a family that he trusts, he makes his brother lick his shoe and in the book even attempts to kill his uncle. May be you should try to understand Feyd better or read the book.

    It is thoroughly disappointing that this character was killed so quickly. He is much less dangerous and evil than Paul. Paul has an ugly character, is charismatic, and he is not vulnerable to love (or even sex). He acquiesced to the ‘prophecy’, more or less unconsciously enjoyed his messiah role, lied to the Fremen whom he wants to use to get his revenge, and disposed of his Fremen girlfriend to marry the Emperor’s daughter. A true ‘leader’ 🙄

      Unfortunately Villenueve took a very divergent path from the source material. He only touched on the true nature of the characters in the books. He chose to tell his own story as he saw it and not so much Frank Herbert’s tale.

    • @christianealshut1123
      @christianealshut1123 10 месяцев назад +10

      Paul does not "dispose of" Chani. In Dune Messiah, it is clear that he has married Irulan mainly out of convenience and to cement his claim to the Emperor's throne. He also decides that she shall never be the mother of his heir, that his line shall be continued through Chani, his concubine, whom he regards as his true wife. In fact, the very last words of the first Dune book states as much - that Jessica and Chani, though mere concubines, will be known as wives to history.
      But I agree with your statement that Paul is not as positive a character as it may seem - though I'd say that Feyd is more straightforwardly evil than Paul, who ends up doing a lot of evil under the guise of doing good. He strictly speaking pretends to becoming one of the Fremen in order to become their leader, just as T.E. Lawrence did with the Arabians. That's insidious to say the least - evil is always the easiest to fight when it's straightforward. At the same time, he lacks the essential quality of a Messiah - ruthlessness towards himself, which Feyd does not have either but which is son Leto II later will have.
