Parachutist fell onto a pensioner at Weston super Mare RAF display

A parachutist crashed into a pensioner in the middle of RAF displays at Weston super Mare.
Both people were taken hospital after they collided.
The incident happened at around 1.20pm on Marine Parade on Sunday afternoon. A parachutist, part of the RAF Falcon display team, collided with an 82-year-old woman as he came into land.
It is not known whether she was standing near the landing zone or in a crowd of people.
An air ambulance attended the scene - and was assisted by police cadets who cleared a space for it to land - and took both people to hospital. Neither have life-threatening injuries, and the parachutist has since left hospital.
A spokesman for Avon and Somerset Constabulary said: "There will be liaison between various agencies to ensure an appropriate investigation into the incident takes place."
The RAF Falcons is the only centrally funded, professional, military parachute display team in the UK.
They were performing as part of Weston's air show displays, which were taking place all weekend.
Display parachuting is one of the most difficult types of parachuting. Once the parachutists leave the aircraft they immediately begin the freefall phase of the display and within seconds they reach 120 mph. The parachute is then pulled.
The RAF Falcons are renowned for their ability to land in confined spaces under immense pressure.
