I have floaters too. Definitely those are a thing. 😂
My floaters are like being stuck inside a snow globe. With black snow 😂😂😂
The comments I came for. Who doesn't have floaters?
I have floaters too......
Also on privacy on Strava: If you set the default to private, all NEW uploads will initially be private. You then have time to edit, add any pictures etc before setting the ride to public or subscribers. Recently changed my settings and asked myselfmwhy not earlier?
That is a GREAT tip! Thank you
Another grand wee video Katie, I noted you said that wild camping is illegal in the UK, well, and I'm pretty sure you realise this, but it's okay here in Scotland. As long as you make sure there are no shoots going on and you follow the country code. As for floaters, I have suffered from them since a small child and being nearly 70 my Opticians says they have developed into cataracts, which will require treatment at some point. However, your friend doesnt have to worry as she is still young. I'm loving your Scottish videos, they are brilliant. thanks for going to the trouble of taking us along. ATB Big Dave Scotland.
Yer in Scotland so wild camping is mostly ok, some places (eg Loch Lomond) you need a permit but we have a right to roam, respecting the land of course, so it means you're good here. Enjoy & thanks for the great PR for Scotland. It disnae alway rain here, honest 😁
Get terrible floaters. It’s the lining of your eyes breaking down and then floating in the clear jelly of your eye. I get them all the time, tiredness makes them worse, your brain will get used to them, key thing is to not focus on them too much. But it’s hard sometimes! Great trip! 🎉
Am I the only person not to have them???
@@KatieKookaburraif you don’t have them, I’d say that’s a massive win. The times I think someone (or something) is about to pull out or round me and then I realise it’s a floater makes it challenging!
@@KatieKookaburraYou must have them if you are organic. In some ways you kind have have to know they exist to see them.
Alternatively, you could be an android who has lost its memory when you crashed to earth.
This bikepacking trip w/ you and J.E. seems much more like a rolling slumber party
That is EXACTLY what is was, no riding just faffing and setting up camp :) THE BESSSSST
Yeah! Me too! Annoying ! ( luckily not there all the time)! More obvious on a dull day too.
Don’t worry me cycling tho’!
Loving this joint adventure girls!!
Juliet is too young for floaters! She needs to get an eye exam!
Love these videos Katie! Love that you keep going with a giggle and smile no matter what goes wrong! Great tip about the Garmin btw
Scotland has a right to roam law. Loch Lomond NationalPark is a disgraceful exception. All dependant on leaving things as you found them.
That was great … ta very much! PS: Apparently there’s only one thing more difficult than herding cats and that would be teaching your cat Gaelic while contending with floaters! 🚴🚴😄
🤣🤣🤣
Yer a funny pair Katie, floaters are common for ‘Oldies’, you learn to put up with them. That weather radar forecast looked pretty horrible, glad you got a B&B. Thanks again for the entertaining video.
As well as floaters, there's also the 'Blue field entoptic phenomenon', which is when the white blood cells in your eyes become visible against the sky!
That’s a very good tip about posting your ride!
"That is vile!" AHAHA spontaneously cute of you!
I'll have wine on most sundays, but I don't practise any alcohol outside of that. Maybe I would have felt the same, can't really say for sure.
Floaters, I don't get them, I didn't know they were a thing. Apparently people do!
Spooky place that! You be on the lookout for ghosts for foul weather will be the least of your problems!
😜 👻 😴🌙 = ]
light weights! Laphroag is the best Scotch, LOL its an acquired taste for sure
You will find that people in Scotland are generally more friendly because they have more personal freedom and liberty, having lived in Scotland for 4 years having moved here from the Southwest that's what I find anyway.
They are succcch lovely people!! So nice :) where did you move to? How does it compare?
@@KatieKookaburra we moved from Stroud in Gloucestershire to Dumfries and Galloway. The cycling is amazing, you must have a go at the Raiders Road in the Galloway forest park. It's hard to put your finger on it exactly but people seem more relaxed. The cost of living is less, it's less crowded, there seems to be less urge to compete with others and of course the scenery is to die for. Oh yes and the right to roam and wild camp defo has an effect.
When camping. What about nature breaks?
Floaters look like little amebas in your eyes.
Floaters are definitely a thing!
I have floaters from welding.
Get it checked! Detached retinas ?
Can u show us the bottom of your shoes? Ty
Juliet's right. Floaters are a thing.
Glad you enjoyed being here on Islay so much, although maybe not so much the Laphroaig. 😂🥃
That reaction to a tiny bit of whisky was really quite funny!
Islay looks great
I had early PVD (posterior vitreous detachment) a couple of years ago. Scary when I didn’t know what was happening. Know all about floaters now!
Floaters are a thing! You 2 are a scream! Laurel &Hardy of the cycle touring YT genre! Fun stuff😄👌
🤣🤣😂🤣🤣😂
I have eye floaters
That's the BEST whiskey! Ya can't just neck it.... sip it and swill it round to get all the flavour! It's delish!
No no noooooo.
Laphroaig vile! 😲
I reckon Katie is pulling your leg lol, defo know what a floater is :) Great video guys, love it!
I really don't - so this is a common thing?? I swear it's a southern thing!!
I got 'em too. And not a southerner. You'll hate them. They just turn up out the blue one day and never go. Like being attacked by shitty little flies 🫱🪰🫲
You must swing by RUclipsr Caroline Girvan’s home and say hello. Safe cycling ladies.
Had clear floaters for 30+ years...... then this year I got black floaters from the back of me eye....quite common....
'Ull' east yorkshire.
Islay is pronounced ‘I’ll-ah’, Gaelic is pronounced ‘Gall-ick’ (Gall as in Shall) and floaters are definitely a thing. Love the video(s) of you two being in my neck of the woods.
I'm quite fond of Islay whisky's. Last week Kilchoman, another islay distillery, was on tour in my country. A woman from the company coincidentally also mentioned the Islay wave.
The Laphroaig 10 you were having is one of my favorites, by the way. What are you on about 😀 I guess we have different tastes.
Tell you what ladies, Scotland is getting alot of airtime on RUclips bout wild camping from yourselves and other cyclists, walkers & bikers.
'Ull' east yorkshire.
I love LOVE scotch single malt whisky and Islays are the most peaty and smoky. An acquired taste for some. You need to roll the spirit around your tongue (to appreciate the flavour) before you swallow otherwise you'll get the burn🤣I would be seriously torn between riding my bike and imbibing a few too many drams! Great video!
Laphroaig - bit of an acquired taste - but like any quality whisky just add water to your taste to bring out the 3d flavours. Better start with a generally milder Bowmore! Read Iain Banks' book 'Raw Spirit', he starts it with a trip to Islay (pr Eye-la).
👍👍👀🚴🚴♂
Great adventures, great videos and I get floaters too🚴🏼♀️💨🚴🏼♀️💨🏕️
I know what Juliet meant didn't know they were referred to as floaters. Picked some good camp and swim spots.
Great vid Katie! I must make it to Islay one day. You certainly chose the right stuff to try neat - Laphroig 😃
I get floaters too. Not to any great degree. They pop up when I'm at the opticians of course. Brilliant timing.
Floaters are real I have been dealing with them for almost 42 years my whole life. They suck, especially when are tired they are the worse.
People are always so surprised wild camping is legal in Scotland (some local restrictions do apply though, such as around Loch Lomond or on private land), always see requests for "stealth" sites on bike forums.
Floaters are fairly common, show up more looking at a bright sky or white wall. If you have a sudden increase in floaters or flashes in the day like fireworks - have an eye exam.
Great vid, good idea of Juliet's to disengage the Strava, stop any unwanted "Fruit bats" swoopin in !
Don't always have to follow a plan, time to chill.
You stick to the Orangina Katie, don't let J lead you astray ! 🤪
Thanks for putting together the vlogs "Mardy" girl, always appreciated. ☀️
🐿
🎵Tried to get me go to rehab
I said no no no ! 🎵 😁
I have floaters in my eyes. Everyone I know does also. I believe they may be common with many folks on this small planet called earth. Maybe.
Was you not too keen on the fire water then? 🤔😆😆
Heeeeckkkk no!!!! Hahahaa
Yes, floaters are a thing.
I sometimes get them, but always thought it was because I was very tired ( eg, after a hard bike race)
Juliet could string her broken tent pole together with dental floss.
I have floaters juliet
I’m the odd one out then???
I do floaters sometimes 😂
Someone had to say it..
Floaters are tiny blood vessels at the back of your eye. We all have them
I’ve got floaters! Definitely a thing.
There was a distillery in Bowmore but think there are 9 on the island
Floaters are definitely a thing!
I too have a floater, when I'm my eyes are strained
Yes! Floaters are real! I have them all the time.
I have floaters.. its an age thing
Lovely you look so happy in head wind 🍀
Yes to floaters.Great trip.😅
Just to add, naturally beauty of Scotland is another level. Remember my trip to Isle of Arran in 2014, although no camping. Maybe someday…
You have to go back and camp. SO beautiful!!
yep, floaters are a thing
I’ve had floaters for years
I’m so here for this adventure. Nothing better than time away with your mates. I just had a weekend away in the Peaks with the girls doing the Edale Skyline. Wild wees, sunburn because I forgot my legs existed, coming up with our favourite combo of swear words, and swiping right on one of the girl’s Tinder accounts😂 Proper good times. X
The best times right??! Sounds so fun Deb!
This true! Floaters
Laphroaig is THE best smoky whisky. And floaters are a constant companion to those of us who are short sighted
Yes. 100% correct. Floaters are a constant companion for me and I'm near sighted. They are more obvious in bright areas, like the beach. At least for me they are.
Floaters all the time!
Juliette’s antifreeze solution for Scotland is brilliant!
“When in Rome. . “
So what if she has to fake a little footage here and there. Right? 😅
Hahaha she is the profesh :) You get the behind the scenes to all that stuff ha
I have floaters too!
Just loving this trip. You two just bounce off each other… cannot wait for the next episode 👍👍👍
Awww thank you!!! Well next one and final one (sob) is up today at 4pm!
Where will you be this weekend? I’d love to join you for a few miles
You should have taken the time to go around the other side of the island down through Port Charlotte- cracking beaches down that end
That's not creepy at all...
Following the videos… ❤
Loved the cup! ✌🏾
Awwww my fave cup - it's always better outside though right??
yeah floaters are a thing and yeah neat malt whiskey does taste like wood varnish 😂
Yesssss defo an acquired taste hahaha
Just love whacky road trip films. Do another... Hurry up...these could be better than top gear
I agree!!!!!!! There are talks.... haha
@@KatieKookaburra duplicate the film with Chinese mandarin characters. An English bike trip. .01% viewers would =100k views.
I HAVE FLOATERS TOO! FLOATERS EVERYWHERE!!! 😱
😂🤣
Thanks for sharing your adventures!
Thanks for joining us :)
@@KatieKookaburra My pleasure!
well you went to my favourite distillery Laphroaig, I know you don't drink but I hope Juillete enjoyed her tipple
Watch the vid all the way through… I drank it hahaahha
@@KatieKookaburra and I saw your reaction, your reaction to a wee sip told me you didn't like it, but its an acquired taste to be honest
I have floaters too, they are annoying 🤨😕
Over time the brain tends to see floaters less and less
у нас морозы -6
Maybe it was the same time as me as you certainly had the great weather that I had, but I've just had four lovely days cycle-camping around the Inner Hebrides, starting on Arran.
I'm accustomed to seeing Juliet forgetting to pack things and losing kit en route but, losing a whole ferry?!!! 🤷♂️🤣🤣🤣
Great videos ladies 🚲⛺👍
Edit; I've just noticed that you made sure that Juliet got on the ferry in front of you 😁👍
Awww how was it??? how were the midges?? Ok I hope! It's just the best in Scotland - what a place. Haha well to be fair to her, she had packed ALL kit for all weathers unlike. Not sure how she carried so much :)
@@KatieKookaburra
It was Scotland, so it was great! 😁🤣👍
Midges weren't too bad actually for wild camping, but on one night the breeze dropped and they found me ☹️. I use Smidge and pre-spray my cycling kit with Permethrin so I barely, if at all, got bitten.
She cracks me up, always a minor disaster lurking not far away (sorry Juliet) 😁🤣🤣🤣
I've had covid for three days now but I'll be back up to Scotland after resting next week.
Can't wait 🚲⛺😃
Thanks again for the great videos Katie 😄🚲👍
Great vid 😎🥳 Also I've seen on the alpkit webpage people having problems with the poles on Juliet's new tent 😟 must be a bad batch... alpkit normally do top kit
Yes they do have great kit - so maybe one batch???
@@KatieKookaburra agreed...they'll sort it out for Juliette 😎
I've had floaters for many years. One day a few years ago, they descended over my right eye like thick cobwebs. They did clear up a little with time, but maybe that's just the brain making accommodation for them. I've heard there's something in pineapple and kiwi fruit that can dissolve them. So I'm now eating some canned pineapple every day, and it's quite possible that there's been an improvement. I guess it's either that or wishful thinking.
How am I just hearing about these? Hope you're good Richard. These pesky floaters eh?
@@KatieKookaburra Thanks, Katie. They don't bother me at all now; I'm not aware of them, but I'm pretty sure they're still there. My optometrist mentioned them when I visited her last year. My vision's not what it used to be, but it's not bad for my age, 80 in a few weeks. I (legally) don't need glasses for driving. If Juliet's worried about them, please tell her she needn't worry, and eating pineapple or kiwi fruit might even help diminish them.
I have so many floaters that from my point of view I always have a flock of geese to look at wherever I go.
Hahaha so this is a thing??????
@@KatieKookaburra Unfortunately, yes.
Juliette I get floaters
I really thought she was having me on ha
@@KatieKookaburra it can happen to anyone anytime
