What Is Mammon? [Uncut]

Sermon on the Mount E28 - In his third teaching on money, Jesus issues a warning about elevating wealth to the position of God in our lives. To describe wealth, Jesus uses the word “mammon,” which can be translated as “the thing in which you trust.” What happens when we put our trust in our wealth? What does Jesus mean by “unrighteous wealth?” And what can it look like to be free from the love of money? Re: parable of shrewd manager,, it's a wise play to make the clients think of the owner favorably. Builds some relationship / goodwill equity by making a write-down on the accounts. The manager is acting as a good fiduciary of the master's resources, at the 11th hour,.even though there's nothing (immediately) in it for them. They choose not to burn bridges for the master, but leaves their clients feeling good. It is a shrewd play!

Most people will make relationships with those rich in land treasure, since many rich in sky treasure are poor in the other. 😢
